Roll to Dodge the Alien Threat (Closed, Concluded)

NOTE: This thread was originally going to be renovated into my new RTD, but Plague got lazy. As such, this original post was lost to my renovations before Plague bailed. Sorry!

Sweet, all the operatives are now documented.

Kalon:
You decide that this highly-trained squad of agents looks a little down. After a moment's thought, you decide you should cheer them up with empty bluffing!
Roll: 5!
Miraculously, the other operatives seem to find solace in your empty words. Their newfound confidence quells their fears and soothes them into a calmer mindset.
Global Operative Effect Added: [Confident: 3 Turns] -- +1 to all combat rolls.

Red:
Using God's gift to you (Not boobs! Foresight, dammit!) you deem it advisable to obtain medical implements.
Roll: 3!
It takes a bit of doing, but you manage to put together a passable first aid kit!

Something feels different... but you can't quite put your finger on it.
(Note-- I fudged this a little. It's original roll was a 1, but I didn't want to kill everyone quite yet, so I re-rolled.)

Plaguewalker:
You decide that the rest of the world has been trying to make you conform by turning you into a super-secret special-ops agent. As such, you immediately fight against their influence.
Roll: 6!
You immediately renounce all affiliation with the other operatives.
"As soon as we're out there, it's every man for his fucking SELF!"
Furthermore, you deem the other operatives to be Socialist Pigs.

Crazy Hobo:
You feel the confidence of Kalon's speech flowing through you, and decide to build off of what he started.
Roll: 1!
You immediately launch into a half-baked speech regarding aliens, humans, and the respective advantages of each.
In the end, you determine that we're royally fucked.
Global Operative Effect Added: [Demoralized: 2 Turns] -- -1 to all rolls except dodging, which receives a +1 because you're a PANSY!
Plaguewalker- Mental Resistance Roll: 4!

I've been in stitches the whole time reading the results! ROFL


Immediately upon landing, I take a 360 degree look around, aiming my rifle and humming the Mission Impossible theme (substitute appropriate period equivalent). Agent CrazyHobo's words ring in my head, warring against my own prior speech. I hope I spot an alien soon, so I can snipe it and boost confidence back up to a high, instead of the current cancellation effect both speeches are probably having on my comrades.

If I see an alien, I intend to snipe at it within the same heartbeat.

Loki follows Red out of the jump ship and realizes that she is in fact the only woman among us. I keep my senses alert on Red to make sure she isn't raped by a tentacled alien monster. Right... That's the excuse I'm using for why I'm keeping my eyes on her...

Generic Rule Discovered: You can only execute one action a turn. If you phrase your post in such a way that the GM has you do the wrong thing, it's your OWN DAMN FAULT! Razz

Announcement: The Landing Zone-
The landing site appears to be a clearing in the woods. Pine needles dot the ground, but a handful of deciduous trees intersperse the forest. Patches of dirt dot the clearing where the grass has been torn up by... you don't really know. You can see houses through the branches to your north. and a trail runs by the clearing on it's southern edge. The path heads both east and west, but the trees due south are too thick for you to see through. The sun is lowering in the sky-- you only have a few hours of daylight left, tops.

Daylight Counter: 4!

Operatives-
Kalon:
As the ship lands, you immediately disembark and sweep the area.
Roll: 4 -1=3!
Your cursory search reveals no hostiles. Just a strange old lady muttering to herself.

Plaguewalker:
You stay frosty! After all, you can never tell when those damn socialists will decide it's time to equalize your wallet.
Roll: 5 -1= 4!
Your pistol stays trained on the back of Kalon's head as you stalk out of the ship.
You see him oggling a crazy old lady, but decide it's probably not an offense worthy of the death penalty.
Probably.

Red:
You carefully move towards the dropship's exit, in as manly a fashion as you can.
Roll: 4 -1=3!
Miraculously, you exit the dropship unscathed. More importantly, you didn't get tentacle'd.
As an after thought, you flex your arm just to prove your mantastic manliness.

Loki:
You can't help but notice Red's rear shaking enticingly as she exits the dropship.
Roll: 6 -1 = 5!
You carefully exit the dropship behind her, eyes carefully scanning her for signs of an immanent tentacle attack.

Crazy Hobo:
You prance about like a pansy!
Roll: AUTOSUCCESS!
Why yes, it IS that easy to make a fool of yourself.
(You know the rules dude. Miss a day, and I make up your action.)

Hostile Forces-
Unknown:
An unknown force psionically lashes out!
Target Roll: 6!
Invalid Target!
Target Roll: 4!
Target: Plaguewalker!
Mental Attack Roll: 1!
Mental Defense Roll: 6!
The attack is blocked by Plaguewalker's sheer opposition to all things Socialist!
Learning Roll: 4 -1 = 3 -- Failed.
Rule Discovered: 6s on combat rolls have a 1 in 3 chance of increasing your relevant stats!

Old Lady:
The old lady abruptly stops muttering!
Target Roll: 3!
Target: Loki!
She takes out a large knife from under her sweater, and lunges at Loki!
Physical Attack Roll: 4!
Dodge Roll: 3 +1 +1 = 5!
Loki easily sidesteps the woman, and she staggers to a halt several feet behind him.

Final Note--
I might have missed rules & achievements in this post, because I have a huge headache. I'll double check it in the morning.

Update!
I updated a few things. Namely, Plague got a rule in his mental defense, I gave some background on the drop zone up top, and Loki shouldn't have gotten a counter attempt.

I take aim with my rifle at the hostile old lady's head. Since she seems to have staggered to a stop, a headshot at this close range should be no problem.

As you near the destination, you search for the group to try and land near them.

You're rapidly discovering that flying a plane is not at all the same kind of stick control you're used to.
It's much, much less fun.
The dropship spirals out of control, and crashes into the clearing where the group is embroiled in conflict!
You have the common sense to bail a few seconds before impact, but hitting the ground HURTS!

1 - Plague saw the plane coming, and dragged his injured body out of harm's way. It's so nice of HQ to send tactical missiles against the socialist threat!

Damage: 1 - 1 (Armor) = 0!
Crazy Hobo is hit by shrapnel, but it bounces off his armor!
0 - Quakernuts is caught in the blast!

Unfortunately for Quakernuts, he defied gravity by falling faster than the plane, and was subsequently crushed by it.

Loki staggered by the impact of the sudden explosion and noticed the condition of those around him were nowhere near as good as they had been moments before. Once again, he leveled his rifle and fired another burst at the crazed old lady.

This mission... rapidly dissolved into anarchy. >.<
Try not to get TOO bogged down in violence. There's much other stuff to do. I mean, for example, you could scavenge together your OWN first aid kit, or even try to do something ridiculous like heal yourself with the soothing power of disco. Well, except for Red. 'Cuz Red is insane now.

^Updated the status sheet on page one, including Red's new achievement!

Also, if I hear from Kalon, we could do an early update today. So I don't need to be up 'till, you know, midnight.

I just realized it's close enough to midnight that for most people, it doesn't make a difference, and I'm sick of staying up 'till 11:50 for one person who's running late. You'll still have a 24-hour period to get your action in, it'll just be from 10 PM to 10 PM instead of 12 AM to 12 AM.

Note: I rebalanced the combat system in an attempt to make things less decisive, so that insta-kills where you get no chance to respond are rarer. I did NOT implement these rules just so the crazy lady would survive longer... though, that is a pleasant side effect.

Seeing as your good friend Quakernuts II has resigned himself to a fiery death, presumably out of grief from Quakernuts I's similar fate, you take matters into your own hands!

She recovers Quakernuts I's pistol!

Final Notes:
I'm gonna give you guys some tips, seeing as you guys are doing sooo well. Take advantage of the fact that everything is determined by dice rolls. You can bend the laws of physics with the right roll, so don't be afraid to try. Also, someone might want to spend a turn offering therapy to Red. >.>
Lastly, I'll update the front page tomorrow, because I'm too goddamn lazy to do it now.

As he exits the dropship he notices the crazy red. Raptor uses his mad mental/speech manipulation skills honed by years as a darklord to attempt to make red sane once more.
