D&D 3.5E: A Shadow Stirs

1. What game system are you running (D&D, Call of Cthulu, Palladium, GURPS, etc.), and if applicable what edition (Original, Classic, Revised, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 10th, etc.)?
Dungeons and Dragons, 3.5E.

2. What 'type' or variant of game will it be (i.e. "Shadow Chasers" or "Agents of Psi" for d20 Modern)? What is the setting for the game (eg. historic period, published or homebrewed campaign setting, alternate reality, modern world, etc.)?
Homebrewed campaign setting; Medieval

3. How many Players are you looking for? Will you be taking alternates, and if so, how many?
Four to five players.

4. What's the gaming medium?
We’ll be playing here on FOG.

5. What is the characters' starting status (i.e. experience level)?
Each player will be given 15,000 XP to start with.

6. How much gold or other starting funds will the characters begin with?
Players will be given 9,000 gold with which to purchase equipment.

7. Are there any particular character classes, professions, orders, etc. that you want... or do not want? What are your rules on 'prestige' and/or homebrewed classes?
I'd prefer a balanced party (Meat Shield, Healer, Arcanist and Trap Monkey) or we won't get too far. No psionicists, Classes from the PHB (1 and 2), and any of the “Complete” books are fine.

8. What races, subraces, species, etc. are allowed for your game? Will you allow homebrewed races or species? 'Prestige' races or species?
All core races, monstrous races (If you’ve got a good reason.) and the races from Races of the Wild/Destiny/Stone.

9. By what method should Players generate their attributes/ability scores and Hit Points?
Ability scores are generated using the normal, 4d6b3 Format. For those unfamiliar with the rules, it means roll four six sided dice and drop the lowest roll. Reroll all dice if your highest score is 13 or less or if your total modifiers are +0 or less. Alternately you may use a 25 Point buy. Max Hp for first level and roll dice for any subsequent levels.

10. Does your game use alignment? What are your restrictions, if so?
Yes, this game uses alignment and players are expected to play their characters accordingly. Evil are not allowed.

11. Do you allow multi-classing, or have any particular rules in regards to it?
Yes, I permit multi-classing. Do not take this to the extreme with complex character builds. Some optimization is desired but I want you to be realistic in your choices. Experience penalties WILL be enforced. Power-gamers, Rules Lawyers and Min-maxers will be severely punished.

12. Will you be doing all of the die rolling during the course of the game? Will die rolls be altered, or left to the honor system? If players can make die rolls, which ones do they make, how should they make the rolls, and how should they report them?
Use the dice roller at http://www.wizards.com/dnd/dice/dice.htm . Players will perform any rolls for skills and I'll reroll if I find anything suspect, but I'll do any that need to be kept secret. I do trust players to play honestly, and maturely.

13. Are there any homebrewed or optional/variant rules that your Players should know about? If so, list and explain them, or provide relevant links to learn about these new rules.
Yes, I will not be giving out XP, but I will give levels when I believe the group/player has met the requirements. I will also give out RP points that can be spent for a reroll, etc.

14. Is a character background required? If so, how big? Are you looking for anything in particular (i.e. the backgrounds all ending up with the characters in the same city)?
Yes. You are required to submit a reasonably detailed description of appearance, personality, and background. No less than one paragraph in length, each.

15. Does your game involve a lot of hack & slash, puzzle solving, roleplaying, or a combination of the above?
The game will be predominantly roleplaying, with some hack and slash and a few puzzles.

16. Are your Players restricted to particular rulebooks and supplements, or will you be allowing access to non-standard material? What sources can Players use for their characters?
Players can use the core books (PHB, DMG, MM), Races of the Wild/Destiny/Stone, and any of the “Complete” books.
