Dreamcatcher - The Awakening: OOC

Before the dawn of man's existence there was a void, and in this void there was darkness and a thought. The thought was a dream, and in this dream there was life! Now the darkness, it tried everything in it's power to prevent this life, but the dream, it could not be killed nor swayed for it was greater than even the darkness itself! So the dream triumphed the darkness and with the creation of life, although the darkness could never truly be defeated, the dream continued on into many more dreams which created this whole new world - which in truth served as a prison for the darkness. The world of dreams, this prison, became known as the Realm and the darkness with which it hid became known as the Boogeyman. A nightmare. A terroristic dreamcatcher whose soul purpose was set to eat the dreams of others, as he himself would never know of it's beauty. And it was said that if this Boogeyman were to ever escape, it would bring about the end of all things light and good.

All over the world there is the legend. Typically it is one told to children who have misbehaved, however, when it comes to the Boogeyman nothing is set in stone. Not even the true nature of his origin. Or so it is believed. The truth is that the Boogeyman is real. Very much so, and forever living off our fears, in the deepest parts of our nightmares. However, when the first dream locked him away all those centuries ago, it was made certain that (even though it was foretold to happen) the Boogeyman would never be free and if he was there were precautions taken to ensure that humanity would be able to fight back. These precautions were known as Dream Personas, reflections of ourselves which show our inner strength and thus relinquish the fear that is trying to control us.

However as our story would go, that day which the first dream so feared, has finally come and he has again been awakened.

When a rather arrogant young girl from some unimportant little town in America, dabbles in the darker side of magic, her carelessness releases and momentarily brings the Boogeyman into our waking world - thus leaving her unable to defend herself against it's power without her Persona. But having been locked away so long has made him weak, and in a desperate attempt to keep from fading away, the creature tears away her Persona and bonds to the girl, making himself stronger in the process. However, during her last minutes consciousness, her cry caught a light. She managed to attract the attention of a celestial dream being, a descendant of the first dream, who's compassion extended to the girl. But, the dream being didn't know the origin of the plea for help. So, it did what it had to in order to save the girl.

In the vast expanses of the human race, there could only have been a hand full of people falling asleep at that exact same moment. The dream being took these people, and pulled them into a lucid portion of the Realm in order to save the girl from the Boogeyman's clutches. . . however, as all things do, this as well came at a price.

Now these people are trapped in a waking sleep, wandering about the Realm as their Personas.
And until the Boogeyman is vanquished back into his original state, they are stuck, trapped.
So it falls upon them to save this girl, themselves, and restore the balance of the Realm before the Boogeyman escapes and all is lost in darkness.

Welcome my lovelies to the darkest parts of both mine and my beloved Inerio's imaginations! We've worked together to bring you this fasmatastic Roleplay which you are apart to take part in. If you're not taking part, you might as well get the fudge pack out now before I have Inerio sick her rabbid little jester dressed doggies after you. Believe me, they are NOT cute and cuddly and will do things to you that you could only dare to dream about.

In other news...the gist of this RP is that you initially have TWO characters! Yup that's right. TWO! You have your character and your character's DP (Dream Persona). Now while your character has to be somewhat along the normal standards of a typical human being, your DP is where you can go hayday in May! Er, I mean your DP can be anything! A flying goat faced gentleman named Rufius. Or perhaps a tortured school girl named Gertrude. The skies the limits, however anything outside of our atmosphere is typically bust. So no almighty 'I am a GOD!' type characters, ok?

Also while the beginning of the RP our character's will be all hunky dori and generally confused together, as the Roleplay progresses and the Boogeyman becomes more powerful the group will split and there will become two factions! The Goodies and the Baddies. It is completely up to you as the which faction your character will belong to in the end but right now there is no black and white, only gray! Meaning everyone is neutral. Also as co-writers of this RP we reserve the right to change your faction if'n things become too unbalanced. Which I'm sure you can understand.

Background: Key moved to America when she was at the age of 7; her parents had been mixed up in a Russian mob back in their home country. Though she didn’t make it out without baring a few scars from the many nights opposing mobs had broken in her home. Upon arriving to America in the city of New York, she was enrolled into a broken school where children her age constantly made fun of her for her accent and her unique looks. So she kept to herself, only having a friend or two that eventually left her, and threw herself into her studies. Leading up to her year of graduation, she left her forsaken school at the top of her class and with a bright future ahead of her. That is until her mother fell into a terrible sickness leaving her unable to move and her father weaken from years of drinking. They were unable to take care of their selves, so Key, who is one to always put her family first, set aside her promising future and settled down into a apartment building next to their own. She now provides for herself and her parents by waiting tables in a crumbling bar in downtown New York.

Personality: Key is very cautious around new faces and stays quiet, something she had learned in her time in Russia to do. It’s on a rare occasion that she ever strikes up a conversation with anyone that she remotely knows, or anything that she knows very well. Most that stumble into the bar for a drink or sobering food always find her to be someone not to mess with. But Key is a person that is filled with compassion for others and a love for all the small details of life. She’s a very warm woman to be around once you get to know her.
