New Animorphs: The first night (OOC: Closed)

Appearance: He has the body of a athletic runner and can run pretty fast for long distances. One reason for this is that he is six feet tall and has a long stride. He has short brown hair dull crystal green eyes. His eyes are always covered by sunglasses which has earned him the nickname ‘shades’. His face would look like your average kid if he didn’t have the Ray Charles style sunglasses on all the time.

Personality: Owen usually doesn’t start conversations with people. He would much rather not have anyone ask him about his glasses. He is a rather kind person once you get to know him. He is very dedicated to whatever he puts his mind to and absolutely loves reading. He is usually seen reading some book or another to escape from his reality. He is very good at history and English. He is decent at math, Science, and gym. He does try to show off a bit in class because knowledge is the only thing he has in common with his fellow students. He has no idea what he wants to do with his life after High School because he is so focused on surviving the social life then anything else. One thing that has always fascinated him was animals. He would read a lot about different animals and has thought somewhat on becoming a veterinarian. People tend to make up ridiculous rumors about him because no one knows much about him. It annoys him to no end when people walk up to him and ask him what gang he is a member of.

Then there is the other side to him. The side only the Animorphs see. He is a courageous person who would rather be the last one out of a fight than the first one to run. He was second in command before the morphing cube mission. Now he is the only one left with leadership skills. He is also decent at thinking up tactics.

History: What he remembers starts at the age of 5. He was in a terrible car accident which caused serious damage to his vision. His brain swelled and the nerves were damaged. This is also the reason for no memory before the crash. He as what his doctors called achromatopsia but to him it means that he has to wear sunglasses everywhere and can only see in three colors (Black, White and lots of Grey). His immediate family died that day but he doesn’t miss them. It’s hard to miss people you don’t remember. His grandparents on his mother’s side took him in. They live on a farm out away from the city. He grew up with hard work and dedication on whatever job was at hand. Because he did live on a farm he had a lot of practice running from one place to another to cut down on time for his choirs. With his grandparents being retired teachers he was home schooled until he went to High School. Once he hit High School things changed. Everyone at first thought he was some kind of rebel wearing sunglasses all the time. All his teachers demanded he take them off before they found out about his vision impairment. When he got his state identification he found out that he couldn’t learn to drive due to his eyes. He didn’t really fit in because everyone kept asking about his vision and he didn’t like talking about it. He closed himself off and for the last few years didn’t really get to know anyone. He usually reads or studies in his free time.

All that was before he met with a dying Andalite who gave him the power to morph. Since that time he has changed slightly when it comes to the public appearance but in private live he has changed drastically. He quickly was chosen to be second in command because of his leadership skills and ability to tactically think his way through situations. He has proven himself many times to be a capable warrior on the 13 missions the original crew went on. On the morphing cube mission he was one of only two survivors. The secret identities of the surviving Animorphs were maintained due to all of the missing members being killed instead of captured. His part of the mission was to make sure the blue box was secured and taken from the battle. The partner he chose for this part of the mission and Owen were the only ones who survived.

Name: Brandon Jameson

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Age: 16

Appearance:
Brandon stands at five feet and nine inches tall. He plays midfielder on his high school soccer team, so he is very skinny, but has a toned muscle structure. His hair is naturally red and his eyes are a dull shade of dark green. Poor eyesight requires him to wear a pair of wire framed black glasses.

Personality:
Brendon gets picked on... A lot. His love for theater, soccer, and choir leaves him out of the "cool kid" circle, but he tends to brush off the attempts at verbal abuse pretty easily. Despite the animosity toward him, he is a very easy going person who has the ability to make friends easily. Science, especially biology has always been his favorite subject, although he does do well in most subjects (other than history) without having to put to much effort into studying. His keen interest in science is what lead him to accept the position of animorph.

Brendan is very gung-ho about everything with which he is involved. Sitting around and doing nothing is never acceptable... He fills up every moment of down time with either running or trying to start some philosophical debate with whoever is nearest to him.

Character’s History:
Brandon comes from a loving family. His father is a veterinarian at the local pet hospital and his mother is a rather successful surgeon at the county hospital. He lives in a rather large house outside the city, because his parents 'love the country feel' of their ranch style home. Not that they spend much time there as they are often gone for days leaving Brandon to fend for himself. He often takes advantage of this by going out at night or having his team spend the night when he can.

With both of his parents in the medical field in some form, they are very wealthy and like to show it when they can. For Brandon's 16th birthday they offered to buy him any car he wanted, but Brandon turned the offer down in place of a high-end laptop and a second- hand scooter. Brandon is actually rather uncomfortable with his parents being so wealthy. He would prefer not to flaunt their riches and have people pretending to like him to try and get a free ride in a nice car or hope to get a cool Christmas present. Sometimes to the outside world, it seems that Brandon prefers to be an outsider. He thinks life is a lot less hurtful that way.

He had a very close group of friends until recently who knew about his private life of luxury, but they also knew a much bigger secret. On the night he was chosen to be an animorph he felt an immediate bond to his teammates. Keeping his own skills in observation, he quickly took on the unspoken role of scout for his team. For this reason, he has become particularly fond of his Peregrine Falcon morph. He often feels more comfortable riding the wind than he does in his own human skin. Of the 13 missions his team went on, he didn't see much action. He spent most of his time up in the air trying to send his team valuable information they could use against their adversaries. On their final mission, Owen chose Brandon to help secure the box and transport it to safety. The rest of the team died that night, and Brandon is still trying to recover from the loss.

Appearance:
Standing on the short side at 5'3", Kayla has dark brown hair, nearly black head of hair which lightens with a chestnut hue when sunlight touches it. Since starting high school, she has taken to dying streaks of color into her hair, the colors rotating from dark blue, to purple, to the current color, a vibrant red that strangely looks almost natural as it fades into her long hair. If one didn't look at the top of her head where the streaks are in sharp contrast to her dark hair, one might not be able to tell there was dye in there at all.

Kayla's eyes are a misty pale green, her skin carrying a slight tan and her muscles toned. Her clothes are constantly rotating in colors and style, though her pants are always jeans of either black or various shades of blue. For shoes, she usually wears worn white sneakers that never seem to be replaced or rotated with other shoes. Her backpack goes with her to every class, carrying every book needed for her classes, as well as a laptop with wireless internet connection, though she rarely brings it out during class.

Personality:
Kayla is a withdrawn type of personality, seeming to enjoy the company of books or a computer over other people. When asked to participate, she offers only a few ideas unless no one speaks up. She will then throw out any idea that comes to mind until someone else picks and takes over her ideas.

She rarely speaks her mind aloud unless forced to, a choice she makes consciously. She is detached from the things going on around her, keeping only within a close circle of friends to whom she opens up with easily. Yet, even with them, she has grown distant of late, and found herself in near perfect isolation.

Character’s History:
Kayla's family used to move around a lot when she was younger, settling in this new town only four years ago. Yet, not long after arriving, her father passed away from an illness that had been plaguing him for years. Since that time, she had been slowly isolating herself into her present state. Still, her mother had taught her strong morals through the tough childhood she had been through, loosing every set of friends, then immediate family so fast.

No true religion shaped her as she matured, because her parents believed that she would not accept just any one set of ideas, which became a self-fulfilled prophecy. Kayla became an open-minded individual, yet her own personality was a bit strong for casual interaction. Having been chided and shunned for random, overzealous comments by usual people, she began to censor herself, though finding nothing to say through the filter, she simply cut herself off from those around her.

She embraced her new friends as she found them, forming a tightly knit group of friends, pulling together with people who found sheer amusement at her thoughts and who shared common interests with her. Though these friends also shared hardships with their own families, Kayla offered nothing but support and suggestions to them.

Before long, The Sharing opened in their school, and her friends joined, while she remained on the side-lines, still too wary of other people to join unless her friends said it was any good. Yet, after only a short time, she noticed a drastic personality change in these people who she had known closely enough to realize something was wrong. Though she was happy they had finally found some sort of peace, she silently detached herself from them, for once grateful at how easily it was to cut off her own emotions.

Left to her own devices, she had begun working with energy and practicing meditation work in private to keep her mind clear. Of late, she also had begun to look at chat rooms to see if anyone else had noticed strange things happening in their schools. So far, nothing had come up from people who hadn't changed their mind shortly after, or erased their own work within a week.

Name: Rori O’Connell

Appearance:
5’2” and 124 lbs. Dimensions are 34-20-36. Rori has green eyes that are enhanced by colored contacts. Her hair is light auburn but she keeps it dyed to a dark brown. Rori tends to wear tight fitted clothing with a leather jacket and leather boots. Her hair is just beyond shoulder length and curly, she usually wears it in a pony-tail or a loose bun.

Personality:
Rori has always been a take-charge kind of person. She liked being the first one in the action. Her natural sense of curiosity and adventure made caution difficult for her. When she was twelve, she moved to America to live with a relative rather than her constantly traveling geologist parents. Rori started taking martial arts classes; she spent all of her time after school practicing Capoeira. Regular training taught her something very important. It gave her the skill of holding back; looking at the bigger picture and learning from it. Although she’s still a very forward teenager, she’s learned to apply a little more logic to her actions.

Character’s History:
Rori was born in Athlone, Ireland with her step-mother Annamaria and her father Richard. By the time Rori was two years old, her parents went back to their old habit of moving from country to country, studying interesting geological sites. When Rori was twelve, she got sick of moving around, she was only ever able to stay in Athlone for a few months at a time. It was then, that she decided to would move in with her grandparents in America. They didn’t like it, but her parents allowed the move anyway. As soon as she got into town Rori enrolled into Capoeira lessons mostly so she’d have an excuse not to attend after-school activities. She followed this plan every year until she was sixteen when she was no longer able to keep studying Capoeira at the same level, and she couldn’t afford the next level classes.

Name: Derek

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Age: 15

Appearance:
Derek doesn't look like all that much, since he's always wearing long-sleeved shirts and jeans, so you can never tell what he is like physically. With just glancing at him, he looks like a scrawny teenager with rather unkempt dark brown hair, and vibrant blue eyes. He also wears glasses, so that also helps add to the illusion that he is just a scrawny teenager who isn't a threat to anyone.

Personality:
One of the best ways to describe Derek is with one word, and that word is lazy. His unkempt hair hints at this, but if you ever venture into his house or ask him to do something, you'll probably get a response ranging from nothing to him saying a little. However, he changes completely when he was chosen to be an Animorph. As an Animorph, his usually lazy demeanor disappears and he is completely focused, though he sorely lacks leadership qualities, and is a little below average at working with other people. Nonetheless, he does his best to work with the others and learn from them, as well as how to work with them. There is also another aspect of him, and that is the fact that he has a great deal of empathy, he can understand, as well as sympathize, with others. Of course, it's hard to imagine that when you see him barely paying attention in class, instead thinking of things that only he can focus on. As for what he wants to do after high school, he has no idea, for he hasn't thought about it at all.

There is a slight problem with him being an Animorph though, and that is the fact that his family is extremely protective, and wouldn't let him go anywhere without a good reason. As such, he always has to sneak out of the house by morphing into one of the small animal morphs he has acquired, and this leads to a cycle of him getting grounded, only for him to sneak out again.

History:
To be honest, there isn't anything too remarkable about the history of Derek. He originally lived, and was born in, a different town than the one he is living in now, the one the Animorphs are fighting the Yeerks from. In this separate town, nothing too remarkable happened at all, just an average life with his mother and father. Unfortunately, this unremarkableness soon faded away when he was 10, which was when it was discovered his father had been cheating on his mother. The two of them of course tried to work through it but, two years later, they separated from each other, causing Derek to worry about who he would live with, then, just a year later, his parents divorced and a custody battle started. Derek wasn't exactly sure what was going on, but he understood that something major was going down and tried to do his best to help his parents. Eventually, it ended with his mother winning the custody battle, since his Dad didn't have a place of his own and was living with the other woman now. This was probably one factor that caused Derek to not pay attention in school much and think about his future. He supported his mom as best as he could, but she couldn't deal with the fact that the man she was married to, and had a kid with, had cheated on her and lived in the same city as her. So, when he was 14, she decided that they were going to move far away, and that is exactly what the two of them did, moving far away from his father.

So, he was thrown into turmoil yet again, although a lesser turmoil this time, as they moved, and eventually settled down in the town where it all started, where he became an Animorph and learned of the Yeerks, of the invasion. He was, of course, skeptical at first, but after seeing the proof with his own eyes, the morphing cube, then he had no choice but to believe and, just a bit reluctantly, he joined the ranks of the Animorphs, to help fight off the Yeerks, to help save Earth. He has no idea how they're going to fight off an army of another species, yet alone a species like a Yeerk, yet for some reason, he still believes that they have a chance, that they can fight off the Yeerks and save their planet.

Name: Cicero Lamberti

Race: Human

Gender: Male

Age: 32

Appearance: A slender man of about 6 foot. He is bald, but he has the shape of head to make it work, and he maintains a deeply tanned complexion (lots of outdoor reading combined with his mother's African heritage). His eyes are a rich brown, and more often than not, his mouth is pressed together in a serious sort of fashion.

Personality: Cicero is a compassionate man with a serious demeanor. He sees life as a constant pathway of self-improvement, and he quickly loses patience with those who seem to be flippant or unreliable. However, his life's passion is educating the next generation of great thinkers, so he attempts to hold himself as a sort of intellectual role-model for the students in his classroom, knowing that many of them do not have many positive male figures in their lives. His zealotry often puts him at odds with less idealistic faculty members.

Character’s History: Cicero was born in New York. His family: well-established Italian immigrants who had fled from Mussolini in the early years of the Second World War. Their family had been land owners in San Gimignano, a rustic, agricultural section of Tuscany. Upon arrival, Cicero's grandfather had been quick to purchase a deal of land in upstate New York, land left in bank possession due to the ongoing Great Depression. Cicero's father grew into a prominent civil lawyer, who then married Cicero's mother, an African-American social worker in the early 1970s. In 1977, Cicero was born to a ruthlessly intellectual household devoted to ethics and social justice; values that would follow Cicero through the rest of his life.

After graduating from high school, Cicero went to King's College in Cambridge, England on scholarship, where he graduated with honors. He returned to America and received a Masters in Teaching from Georgetown University. After graduation, he began his career as a teacher, but due to budget cuts, was laid off after his first year. He was then admitted to Oxford, and he graduated with his doctorate in English Literature. With the American economy in the upswing, Cicero returned to the public school system, much to the surprise of everyone involved, and continues to work as a high school English and History teacher, or "in the trenches of education" as he likes to put it.
