Steel Crux

In the outskirts of Washington D.C., things are on the decline. Gang activity and crime is rising rapidly, moving inwards into the city. Citizens are growing fearful of this, but feel as though they have no power. It is a waiting game to be taken over by drugs, sex, and violence... But something happens, something to change this.

In the poorer region of the city, in a three story building, a group moves in. They are mysterious outsiders, and unlike anyone else. Though they appear as a gang themselves, they have an air of intelligence and mystery about them. Something that makes you feel safe, yet scared at once. It is something you cannot understand, these strange and unique people. Something, you know, is wrong with them. Be it a burden or a curse, it is not known. Not to a human, at least.

Over a short period of time, the violence and gang activity begins to decrease. But why? Some connect the dots and believe that these people are eliminating the local threats; and those people who believe this are very right. You see, are group of odd outsiders are nothing like you would imagine them to be.

They are vigilantes. At night, they draw out their steel horses (motorcycles) and ride; but this is also strange. For their motorcycles are unique. Each is different, and custom. They are beautiful, appearing as though it were something no man could make. And if man had made these bikes, it would've taken a many of them; and years in time. But each of these special bikes is not made by any other man than their own riders. For the riders themselves are Alchemists.

Welcome to the age old fraternity of Alchemists, called the Crux. They are Vigilante Alchemists, having lived far longer than you and I. And their goal- on a day by day basis- is keeping the world safe. But in this modern world, its greatest threat is its own people.

But it will not remain so much like this.

As time has passed, they have faced many a strong threat that man has not dreamed of. Secrets have been born and woven to keep man safe; and now another danger has come to destroy such a threat. A power; a force. Born in the cosmos, spawning in the space far out in the universe. A power that comes to challenge; comes with only the will to fight and gain more power. It seeks to expand, to grow, to test its own limits. And what better to test limits upon than the meek little planet we call Earth, and the legendary fraternity of Alchemists?

-Class is "Upper, Middle, Lower" for those who didn't know the options.
-Vigilante Name is a code name or nickname that Alchemists go by at night.
-Bike Name: Every bike is custom, it is an ally to its rider. It has a name. Think of a good one. No one is riding Bob.
-Bike Attribute: Every bike has something extra special. Be it an elemental attribute, speed, endurance, able to be invisible, etc.
-Bike Appearance: Write it out, be unique and descriptive. If you can find a pic, go for that too.
-Weapons: Alchemists; you may use normal guns, but they are just that. I'd prefer you use unique weapons, mostly melee. Being Alchemists, I expect something interesting.
-Appearance: Real pics or a good description please.
-Bios: these are OPTIONAL.
-Alchemists, please don't be over a 1,000 years old.

Bike Attribute: Escalador can ride along walls. It has a harder time riding ceilings, but Esper is learning how to control it to do such a thing.
Bike Appearance:
-Escalador is a brilliant bike. It is longer than the average; as long as a chopper. It has an elegant body, shapen in smooth curves with sharp cuts along the rear fender. It is shapen with the foot rest near the back wheel, suggesting it is ridden with the rider laying forward almost. The bars curve forward, then jut backward, almost like a spider's legs. The front bares two eye-like headlights that shine a glorious blue. The pain is a rich chrome/metallic silver, with deep violet lines that outline every flowing curve and edge. The seat is black leather with violet seams, and the handlebars a rich black with violet grips. There is no windshield or breaker. The bike also has a long fender, and very thick broad wheels. The rims are shapen like a star, and are purple-edged with silver center, and a gradient-like fill.

Personality:
Esper is a quiet and enigmatic person. She's seen many a thing in her years, and has earned her position as the Right Hand ... Woman? of Crux. She is best friends with the leader. She is friendly to others in the group, and a great mentor. She, alongside Angelus, are the leaders. And they show it. She has great confidence, and never doubts. She is strong beyond her appearance, and wise within her years. Esper is known for being gentle, and yet callous, when she needs to be. And she is also known for being the gavel and punishment for those who misbehave and go against Angelus' will.

Brief Bio:
-Born in Spain to a group of thieves and miscreants, she was destined for poverty and crime. Yet, at the age of 7, she was taken in by Angelus. He saw a power within her that even she did not know of. She was trained them, as she grew, by this man. And after about a hundred years or so, she was a killer. But in a way that was meant to save. She was perfected in the art of harmony and peace. She was taught to be more than human. Within her next few hundred years, she perfected her skill as an Alchemist, and with Angelus, began the Crux fraternity of Alchemists.

- 9mm Browning pistol
-CUSTOM: She wields a short blade, that has two other blades within it. From a side view, it looks like threw claws mashed together. But when they unfold at the tip, it creates a pick-axe of sorts. The handle is somewhat long, about a foot, leading into a foot long blade, that spawns then into a left and right blade. It creates a 'T' like shape, and is quite dangerous in close-ranged battle. It is known for being good at hooking enemies and preventing escape.

Bike Attribute: Volare can cast light from the body of the motorcycle. Thus, it can shine brightly, blindingly so.
Bike Appearance:
-Volare is a more powerful appearing bike. It has a body much like a Harley Davidson Lux, only it is far more different. The body is stretched out further, and broader. The pipes braid back into a set of three that fall vertically down next to the back wheel. The bike is a chrome clear color, with a tint of dark blue to it. It almost looks like it is made of glass; and within it can be seen many ticking and functioning parts. The inside of Volare looks like a clock almost. The handlebars are normal sloping towards him like the top arch of a harp, and are bearing black grips. The bike has a slight lean forward for the rider, but not as much as Escalador.

Personality:
Angel is the best. He is trained and strict, and strong as well as wise. He is quiet and has the leadership of a King, with the wisdom of a sage and the judgment of a knight. Angelus never fails to be kind, and shows acceptance to all his brethren. He can be warm and welcoming, but a lot of times comes off as enigmatic and godly almost. He is truly a strange man, who's ways are unknown to most. Even those in Crux do not know him but so well. Those who know bits and pieces of his past though, would understand why he would be such a way. Angel is known best for his strategy in battle and orchestration of the Crux's power.

Weapons:
-CUSTOM: His weapon is a longsword, but do not think it boring and bland just yet. His sword is about five feet long, and a good two inches wide. It tapers to a sharp point, and has a ridge about two inches before the end on both sides. Ah, yes, both sides. The handle is unique. It is black and leather gripped, with a set of two switches. When Angelus opens these switches, the handle can slide up and down the blade. This allows the blade to be swing and diced forward or back. When the switches are locked, he can create the blade to be whatever length he pleases. He can have one solid longsword, or he can have equal blade protruding from either end. The handle can be stopped anywhere along the blade.
-CUSTOM: A simpler weapon, thank the heavens. A crossbow that fits on his wrist. Though the sides do not protrude outward. Instead, this looks more like a thin gauntlet, with a set of five tightly woven strings that sit metallic before a sight. On these strings are little clasps that draw back on demand, and hold between them a tiny arrow. When the trigger underneath the palm is released, these five strings release the arrow at once, propelling it near the speed of a bullet.

Personality:
Anne-Alita is a person in the background. She’s quiet, stays out of the way, and does what she is told. She hasn’t shared with others the darker events of her childhood, as well as the different things that had happened to her during her travels. Though she had every reason to hate humanity, she chose to use her abilities to protect those who are worthy, by destroying those who are not. She has a sick view of justice, as do the rest of the vigilantes.

Brief Bio: Born during the Haussmanization of Paris, Anne-Alita never seemed to be able to find a home. She lived the slums of Paris streets until they were destroyed to build New Paris…and when the middle class came to live there, she abandoned Paris all together. Over the years, she traveled until she eventually came to the US, living in the slums of New York. By then, she had discovered her unusual powers…and soon joined the Crux Fraternity of Alchemists in D.C.

She’s left it all behind her, and hoping for the best.
Brief Bio:
Meredith moved to D.C. to do volunteer archaeological lab work at the Smithsonian. She works as a waitress on the side, trying to save up enough money as well as establish in state residency to go to school and get her Masters.

Bike Attribute: Scrios is virtually indestructible, able to smash through walls, or fall from great heights without any harm coming to the bike or the rider. However, Kester has yet to discover a way to protect himself from bullets while riding.
Bike Appearance: Scrios is a rugged, and powerful looking machine. The bike has an elongated front end, handle bars arcing backwards and set wide apart. The rider sits slightly reclined, and the foot rests set well forward. The body is robust, with thick wheels and a solid feel. There is no windshield, and a single headlight cuts through the midnight blackness. The body of the bike is jet black, with twisting red lines covering the surface. The seat is black leather, and the rims of the bike are shaped like saw blades. Four exhaust pipes, two to each side, curl backward from the powerful engine.

Personality: Kester is a man of action, preferring to shoot first and ask questions later. He often goes off on angry rants, punching holes in walls and making a wild mess of things in his anger. He has a warrior spirit, always looking for an excuse to fight. His rash decisions and almost foolish bravery have put him and the rest of the Crux in sticky situations in the past, and if it was not for Angelus’s guidance, he would probably already be dead. Kester only respects strength and courage, and hates weakness. He is not without honor, but his abrasive actions often set him at odds with other Crux members.

Sawn-off over under shotgun
Custom: Chainfist: A metal gauntlet that Kester has fashioned himself. The gauntlet encloses his fist and forearm, and a length of spiked chain can be seen wrapped around his arm. The chain can be played out from Kester’s wrist to varying lengths, and has a wicked spike at the tip, which can split into a grappling hook type of shape. The chain itself is used as a whip, but the gauntlet also makes for a mean punch.

He is the runner, the speed demon that launches himself into almost any situation with little to no regard for his own safety. Imp can handle the damage it receives, so he's not worried about that. However he often overestimates his own physical strength. Even if his powers as an alchemist are incredible.

Pistol: Specifically a classic Colt 1911, .45 caliber for those situations where the ‘less understanding’ folks of DC wouldn’t take to well to open use of alchemy.

Sling Baton: This is a little bit of a work of art. Part typical collapsible 16” steel baton, partially infused with steel-slinging alchemy. Slinging ‘bolts’ of spiked, molten steel on command, making for a nice spark-filled shower when the bolts hit metal surfaces. However the bolts themselves literally burn straight through their targets. Of course, there are many other uses for such an ability for a weapon. But Verin really likes the flesh-melting part.
Other: As stated before, he’s a bit of a speed-freak. Fast bikes, fast everything. From women to battles.

Alteisen is slightly larger than Weisritter and has a serrated blade, he uses this mostly for offensive strikes while Weisritter is lightweight and easy to wield, perfect for timed parries for counter attacks.

All are fine, and added. Quakernuts, the only thing I might bring up is that knowing there is a greater enemy. Do you think your character would either end up dying, or would he join Crux to help against the enemy?

Well obviously there is the larger threat you spoke of before.. But that isn't going to be in the forefront right at the getgo.

I think it would make sense if they were sitting... wherever they all congregate when the leader, or someone, gets a bit of information regarding a disturbance (your choice) and bam, we're launched into something to do for the introductory and follow-up posts in the rp. Then we could go from there...

Of course, I'm just trying to help.

That Idea seems good. Or how about the Crux Members will receive mission details in the middle of their own things and force them to take up the Vigilante life and meet up somewhere close to the Operation Area. *Shrugs* just my idea. xD

I plan on the group living in a two/three story home in the lower class. It won't be a perfect house, but it will look better on the inside than the outside. I plan on having Angelus go through and say something about a gang confrontation; maybe like two gangs coming to face each other in a public place where innocent bystanders may be hurt.

That's my opening idea I'm working with now in Word Pad.

I like the idea of the group living together, and living in the lower class area of town makes more sense considering that they act as vigilante's in that area of town (unless their into white collar crimes as well, but those get legal and very nasty in the public eye so I figured we were avoiding that).

Speaking of dealing with the conflict you mentioned... Do they have limits? 'Rules of engagement' as it were? Because I had this idea in mind that Verin wasn't going to be too keen on letting them live and 'learn their lesson.' So.. if they are supposed to be the whole "We don't kill" group, then I plan on testing those ropes with Verin.

Actually, that is a great point.

Crux has a somewhat vicious way to go about things. A hard justice, if you catch my drift. If the bad guy's violent, so are Crux. If the bad guys are killers, we kill the bad guys.

BUT remember, you kill somebody, then you're risking the Crux's secret lifestyle.

I like the idea of having everyone live in close proximity to each other. I allows for a lot of character interaction and dialogue to take place, whether it’s friendly or hostile. I would imagine that a person who lives with someone for more than a half-century would get pretty annoyed from time to time. As far as “rules of engagement,” I would say that each character should determine their own boundaries. It would create very interesting interaction between a character that has a very hard-line, kill or be killed attitude and a more merciful, forgiveness type of character.

As with everyone, I am eager to get started, and look forward to working with the lot of you.
