Something Lies in the Darkness OOC

Thousands of years ago the people of the planet of Illiad spoke and learned from the "Gods", the gods of Elements. They listened intently to their words, their power, their place in the world as a whole and they learned not only to respect the elements but to coexists and control them. Now each country of Illiad is home to a people who separate themselves by the elements they praise and control. However, there is no discord because of the different faiths, for they are united in their distaste for the of element darkness and the people of Nod who praise it, control it, and crave more of its power. The rest of Illiad are also united in its hatred for one word. War. It has not been heard of in generations, not even a whisper of it since the End of the War to End War. The War in which light and darkness ceased to be.

Over a two centuries ago the land of Nod, could control it's thirst for power no longer. It wanted more land, more blood, more death. They wanted darkness across the land. It’s army washed over several counties and it’s people. The people of the Kiran were thrown into extinction and the people of Rabi and Dover were drive to the brink of nothingness. Along with them millions of lives from all lands were lost, until finally, banning together to face their common enemy, the surviving people of all free countries fired back. They would not allow other people fallow the path of Kiran. They would survive, and they would win.

The war changed quickly in the battle of Quan Dai, in the land of Damek. The people of Damek with their great power and steadfast defense held the great attack of Nod; the people of Rai used its technology to sweep through ranks both in front of their comrades and also those coming in to reinforce. Dover swept away Nod from the river, destroying its precious cargo and drowning what survivors there were. The flying people of Rabi swept down on the supplies on the land from the sky. After what seemed to be an entirety of battle, Nod began to tire and wane. Adens most power warriors then broke through the lines of Nod and the began to sweep the very darkness from the land before them.

Nod had put almost every warrior into battle that day, they hoped to dash away the other countries of Illian in one battle. Instead they lost they lost the war, what little men they had ran across the barren lands they helped create and prepared to defend their "holy land". The forces of Nod continued to kill and struggle against the world. For 5 additional years they made the world pay, they were few, but they fought like demons, like animals. They were humans no more, they had sold their soul to hatred and power, soon stories told of its warriors no longer looking human. Then the End came. As the forces of the allies approached the land of Nod, Nod decided it would not give the satisfaction of victory to the rest of the world. Their desert canyon country seemed to explode at once, the cities outside the canyon walls seemed to be wiped away with a broom. The cities inside the canyon walls were buried, damning its people to a slow death of suffocation or starvation.

The soldiers of the world witnessed the End and returned home, passing through the once living cities of Kiran which now housed only corpses. The people of Illiad vowed that his would be the War to End War. They rebuilt the land of Kiran and made it and its rebuilt cities a neutral land where people of all countries could come together, to live, to work, and to discuss issues of importance before they led to war. And so the world came into a peace that would last until now.

5 years ago today, in the land of Kiran a Rai ambassador and his guard were returning to their land after a conference to solve a border dispute between itself and the nation of Aden. The meeting had gone well though no agreements were made, however at night in the forest of Kiran, death would find all but 1 of the convoy. The only evidence left on the scene was the fine blood soaked blade used by Aden assassins. Aden denied any hand in the murder and Rai demanded justice and the land in dispute as compensation. Aden continued to claim its innocence and refused. Borders are now closed, trade has stopped between the two powerful lands. And now whispers of war are on the lips of men and women everywhere. The old alliances have been undone and now new ones form. All that stands in the way of war is on last conference in the land of Kiran, in the grand city of Unita. But something lies in the darkness....waiting for blood.

Rai/Lighting: A country on the East-North East side of the land. It's land is small in terms of size to Aden and Damek, but thanks to its technology, it is possibility the most powerful land in the world. This land is responsible for the phones, air transports and electricity the rest of the world has enjoyed.

Aden/Fire: A larger land that is renowned for its powerful warriors. Because of the lack of war, many of its warriors are used as police, body guards and mercenaries. It's land is centered along the warm equator though most of its land is in the east, it does stretch into the west. The land being disputed between themselves and Rai is an important seaport at the tip of each of its lands.

Damek/Earth: Holds the largest land thanks to its control over the lush lands of the west and its control over the mountains in the far north. Its populace is known for their great size and strength. Thanks to their knowledge of the earth they are renowned farmers and builders.

Rabi/Wind: A smaller land in control of the vast mountain range North of what was once the land of Kiran. The country has struggled after the war, most of its people killed. It has enjoyed better economic times, because of the invention of flight, which they worked with Rai to achieve.

Dover/Water: Has land scattered through out but it does control most land along the sea. Had suffered greatly because of its capital being in the path of Nod’s army. But has quickly bounced back thanks to its control of the sea and river commerce. It's interest in commerce are threaten by the introduction of flight by Rai and Rabi.

Kiran/Light: Now home of the city of Unita, the economic and diplomatic hub of the world. This great and united city is a memorial to the lands now extinct people. It was said that those of light could control time itself. It sit directly north of the land of Nod.

Nod/Darkness: A land that split the southern lands with Kiran taking the southern most points. A people obsessed with power and death. Like those of light, they are thought of little more than legend now. Though unlike Light, no one honors Nod and many have begun to forget them entirely. The land is considered a scar on the planet now. It is said no living things grows across it’s borders.

I'd like to get one person from every land. A person from Nod and Kiran is a must, with the one from Nod obviously trying to start the war, and Kiran trying to stop it. I'd prefer all the people from the other lands play as bodyguards to the conference but if you think you have a great character that can work into it by all means let me know. I call the bodyguard from Rai.

Name: Luis Ramirez

Gender: Male

Country: Rai

Weapons: The first Semi Auto Pistol. (though it is still prone to jamming) It uses .45 ACP bullets and it a more accurate than other pistols in existence. However, he still prefers and often uses his sword, which he can charge with electricity.

Personality: Luis was blessed with a very up beat and optimistic personality, even after many trials in his life including being the only survivor of the attack on the Rai ambassador. This memory still gives him night terrors which has him waking up in the middle of the night with a cold sweat.

Bio: Was born into a modest home of a soldier and teacher. Luis however was not born to live modestly. He was a genius, and it was obvious even as a child. He had quickly began inventing at a young age creating simple item to help his hard working parents around the house. However once he reached the age of 14 and was given his peoples control over lightning his imagination took off to new heights. He began using his peoples power over this element to create even more complex items for his parents.

His parents however would be lost to him at the age of 17. His parents sudden death awakened Luis to the still poor conditions and equipment of hospitals through out the world. Flush with ideas and the promise to revolutionize the world medicine, Luis began to churn out invention after invention, heart monitors, x rays, defibrillators and more were just some of the many inventions he had come out with by the age of 20. And by the time he was 21 he had become a multi-millionaire.

From then on he dropped out of school and continued his work, this time pursuing not only medicine but everyday items which could help the people of the land lead better lives like he use to do for his mother and father. His study into power lines and cheaper electricity made it possible for every country in Illiad to enjoy its uses, not just Kiran and Rai. Soon he was a household name not only in his land but even in those as far off as the Dover seaports to the east. However, with all the money, he did not lose the sense of right and wrong from his father and was determined to help a people who were still devastated by the War.

He traveled to the land of Rabi and began to work with the people there to develop flight. However after the first year of research the scientist of Rabi were without money, giving up their research grants to help the countries essential services stay afloat. Luis was not willing to give up on the project and began to pay for the research with his own money. Luis and the revived Rabi people continued to work on the project for 2 more years until flight was fully achieved. During his 3 years in the country Luis became very close to his co workers and the people of Rabi. The first flight of the two countries great invention took Luis back to his home in Rai.

However, now back home, fate decided to deal him an unlucky hand. The Consul of Rai asked Luis to join the ill-fated convoy to Unita, hoping his presence at the conference would be taken as a show of good faith to the ambassador from Aden. In the darkness the next night Luis and the other guards fought bravely to defend the convoy and the ambassador, but in the end all were killed and Luis was left near dead. The medical technology he helped pioneer saved his life, but could not save his arms. After several months of trial and error, with his best scientist acting as his arms, Luis invent the world's first cybernetic arm, however his shame has kept him from sharing this invention with the world. Over the next 5 years, Luis has slowly perfected his design, and now he has volunteered to protect the ambassador to this historic conference; vowing not fail in his mission this time.

Ooooh. I'm interested in Nod... Though if someone else comes along, have at it! II also like the idea of Rabi/Wind... but until i decide, free game!

So, is this a fairly modern setting, then? or more like... steam punk? I love the ideas and stuff i just can't get a grasp on what everything would look like

Somewhat like steam punk. The world is more advanced than our was in the 1900's but the technology was still very primitive. Gun's have just been developed but are still inaccurate. Many people still use sword and knifes as primary defense weapons. The flying machines will be large but cumbersome. It's a very mixed pot of modern and primitive devices. Medicine, the spread of electricity and flight being more advanced but still in its infancy. Make sense?

Oh and also the buildings are much grander than they were in our 1900's because Damek is good like that. XD

-1 long slender sword, appearing like a katana but it's double-edged
-1 razor yoyo-- A sheathed yoyo of sorts that is all black with silver razor edges. It can be slung/whipped forward, and can extend a measure of four feet.

Personality: Stern and to business- Vega is one hell of a boyish gal. She doesn't priss around and prefers male company over a females any day. She's strong and unbelievably driven, and loves a good bit of humor. Overall she's a really kind person, but sometimes just shows it in odd ways.

Bio: Vega was born in Dover. She was raised by her father- a port worker- nicknamed Cargo. He took her as a young girl out to the docks around the sailors to help him do odd and end jobs near the harbor. She learned quick how to be tough, and by the age of eleven had a sharp sailor's tongue to match. When she was thirteen, something else happened. Her father had to go away on a trip overseas, and someone else came to take care of her. Her brother Rex, a traveling bouncer of sorts.

Rex was the epitome of what she wanted to be. Tough, quick-witted, unbreakable and unbeatable. She watched him fight off the biggest baddest guys in all of Dover. He was a bodyguard, and took her along with him on his adventures, traveling with the people he was protecting. By the time the girl had turned seventeen, she had decided to mimic her favorite people. She put herself out there as a freelance bodyguard, working small time labor jobs at the docks in her free time. But as of recently, she's gotten a few bigger jobs, and has been working her way up on the scale. Now she's expecting to be hired for something big, and hoping to have a real adventure to really make a name for herself.

Anyway, I hope this is acceptable.

Name: Tuulikki Faie
Gender: Female
Age: 19
Country: Rabi
Weapons: Tuulikki is an improvised fighter, usually fighting with whatever she can get her hands on. She's prone to using firearms, however she's prone to both breaking and loosing them. The only two weapons she seems to be able to keep track of are her whip and dagger.
Personality: Tuulikki isn't exactly all there. Her eyes are vacant, and always seem wide in wonder as they stare off into some other realm that only she can see. Tuulikki is imaginative, and playful. However, her often sarcastic air and dreamer personality often make Tuuli seem stuck up. Tuuli doesn't voice her opinion until asked, but those who ask for her opinion often can't get her to stop giving them her opinion. Due to what she's endured, Tuuli is perhaps too nonchalant and optimistic. Yes, even mushroom clouds have a silver lining for Tuulikki.

Bio: Tuulikki grew up the eldest of four siblings with an absent mother. She has no idea where the woman ran off to, but on her eleventh year she came home and the woman simply wasn't there. Tuuli suspects that her mother could no longer deal with life in Rabi, and frankly doesn't blame her for it. Her father, having to raise four children, wasn't home often. Thus, Tuuli was left to watch over her siblings.

Being torn apart by war, Rabi wasn't the best place to grow up. Tuuli's house often wound up being broken into, and often robbed if the assailant wasn't beaten away. Her younger siblings would sometimes come home beaten and bruised by older vagrants with no better means of obtaining food or money than stealing it from children. It was at this time that Tuuli decided that fighting was her best means of survival, and began to learn various techniques from her father.

When Tuuli turned fifteen, she had decided that she had enough fighting experience under her belt to become a body guard. Her brother, the second oldest of the family, was already old enough to watch after the two youngest and so Tuuli began to take on jobs with her father. Spending most of her time out on the road allowed Tuuli to read, and obtain knowledge that she couldn't come to focus on when she had to watch her younger siblings. Books and scriptures became the fuel for her creativity, and thus the seed of imagination was planted into her adolescent mind.

At seventeen, Tuuli was given the opportunity to be experimented on. It was a complex procedure that would apparently give her the ability to fly swifter than an eagle, and Tuulikki was in dire need of money. She and her father entered the program. After several months of intense experimentation, the project was disband for being to "inhumane". The pair were left without a leg to stand on, quite literally in her father's case. Tuuli as weak, her bones made hollow and frail from the experiment, and thus began her intense research on the human anatomy due to her inability to fight.

Tuuli had tried, and failed, at returning the marrow and density back to her bones. To no avail the girl had almost given up had it not been for a freelance scientist whom had offered to help her. Lo and behold, the man had cured her. While no longer physically disabled, being played with like a laboratory rat had taken its toll on the eighteen year old's mind. According the man that fixed her, she's now light enough to fly. However, that is debatable. Being known for her almost cockroach like ability to endure almost any situation, Tuuli was chosen as the convoy of Rabi. Then again, it wasn't like there was a wide array of people to choose from to begin with.

Appearance: Tuuliki stands at five foot five, and is relatively light. Her black hair is cropped short and shows auburn highlights when she enters the sun. The front of her hair being notably longer than the rest of her hair and beaded at the ends. Her face is round, with a small nose and wide hazel eyes. Her skin is the color of sand, and covered in various scars from the experiments done to her. The most notable scars are the one from her right collar bone to the center of her chest, and the one from her left collar bone to her right breast which form a haphazard 'V'. Another are two large scalpel scars near both her shoulder blades. The rest are covered the best she could by tattoos.

Awesome character by the way. I love the way your character shows how truly desperate Rabi was after the war. It will be interesting to see how my character reacts seeing such a reminder of how desperate that place still is.

Once Spec is done with his Nod character we can get started if you all would like. Or we can wait to see who else joins the fray. Or we can start off and leave the rp open for others to jump in. lol Let me know what you guys want to do.

I don't care either way, I can wait. However, the roleplay might get stagnent or something if we leave it off for too long. Whatever you wanna do(or anyone else for that matter.)

well, i had a nice bio written up. then something happened and all the text disappeared and lost all the writing. /gag reflex. Lets give it another, frustrated go.

... he does't feel he needs or wants technological weapons. With his particular powers in darkness, he can get in close and maneuver about if need be.


Personality:
Eversor is a straight forward person. Though he prefers to not talk to strangers, or outsiders, and usually only speaks if spoken to. His appearance would give most the assumption that he's just big and dumb. However this is far from true, as he is cunning as a fox, and intelligent.

He's a deceiver, and usually always thinks of himself first.

Bio:
Eversor was born into chaos. Death, blood, and killing as a big part of Nod culture. It was a Machiavellian/Spartan style of society.

He was born under a Nod Warrior and Marauder. They didn't have a proper mindset for 'Mother' and 'Father'. They had mother figure in their Medicine women, and father figures in their Captains, and their King/Chief. Their kind though was more revered as a God/Demon among men, though, so much more a reverence than just a Father.

Like any other Nod youngling, Eversor's biological father owned him, and trained him, was responsible for his general health. Teaching him basics of hunting, feeding, survival, killing... Something every father teaches their kid, right?

Once he was about seven years old, he was given to Nod's sort of 'academy'. From here, the generations' boys were hardened, and molded into tools of Nod. Eversor was a warrior. During his four years in this 'academy', he was beaten, tortured, gave beatings, tortured people, and learned the art of fighting. The art of Killing. He grew up with pain and bloodshed. They were paired up with a sort of 'battle buddy' on their first day, and called 'Acolytes'. They did everything together. The closest thing they had to best friends, or brothers. Going through thick and thin, and assisting one another during good times and bad.

Upon the last day- they were unexpectedly pitted against their Partners in a fight to the death as a 'graduation'. It was hard for them, and tore at their psyches, and insides. Though, none were allowed to leave alive if they didn't fight. So fight they did, and Eversor remained victorious, and blood-soaked. He was the first to finish, as they were all put in the same room in a sort of 'Circle of Death', with several circles inside the large cave room.

He graduated from an Acolyte to a Marauder. As a marauder, he was given more privileges. Sort of like a 'teenager' would be given slightly more different rights and treatment by law. His teen years were filled with survival of the fittest, hunting large, dangerous beasts for trophies for the warrior society. Running missions and tasks given him by the King and Chief council... He had been shaped to be quite the versatile killer. He was given the title of 'Predator' for a while. He participated in many hunts for fugitives, and sort of became a type of 'assassin', placed in teams. He also generally hunted with the team, taking down enormous, and vicious beasts for food, clothing, and weapons. They lived in the same areas, and trained with the same people.

He and his team became fairly popular... Around this time, there were whispers of a national meeting involving officials from Rai, Aden, and Unita... Whispers turned to Rumor, and rumor turned into fact, fact turned into a mission. So- around this time, Eversor was commissioned with leaders of other warrior groups to destroy this convoy of Aden...

Eversor and three others preformed the high class, shadowed mission for Nod. The mission was a complete success, as everyone was presumed dead. If they hadn't died upon their arrival, they would be dead shortly after their departure. . .

This was highly approved of the Nod, and these four were given special privileges as the personal body guard unit of the King, as well as becoming his personal Black Hands... The Black Hands of Nod itself. Each given special black shrouds... one of the highest honors in the society was this adornment....

From here Eversor continued his life as an Assassin, and always in action somehow, whether it be in training combat, or doing various small tasks...

His latest task however was something a little more complex than usual... Nod was on a rise, as it hasn't been in ages... Eversor was sent out into the world to act as reconnaissance, as well as allowing full judgment. Nod basically sent him out into the world to destroy his enemies, and to be a watchful eye...


Appearance:



From head to toe, Eversor would appear mysterious, vicious, and all around intimidating. He has pale skin, and bruised eyes. He's six foot tall, and weighs 185 pounds. He has long black straight hair that reaches his shoulders....

Atop his head is a thick cloth wrapped around his head like a half folded bandanna. It pushes his raven black hair back. His ears are slightly pointed, and his eyes are a point of interest. Due to many years of evolution, Nod Warrior pupils are vertically slitted like a cat's. Eversor's irises are Yellow, and black on the outside. Around his eyes is constantly a sort of makeup, or paint. Black around his eyes, and at the corners, he makes them appear to be pointed, the middle corners of his eyes are pointed down, and the outer corners are just pointed outward. They are made to make his eyes appear more frightening, and snake-like.

His smile is a devious one, and his teeth are vicious looking. His front teeth are normal, and his incisors are fairly normal- though slightly pointed. His canines are more like short, sharp fangs. His teeth are made for carnivorous hunting and eating. Though they don't affect his speech, or get in the way of his lips or tongue when talking. His tongue is thin, and long, as well.

Around his face is usually a thick black scarf, or something covering his face. It's odd, because most would consider him a good looking man at first glance.

He wears a shoulder, neck, and face-guard. It's all together on one piece, the shoulders being hardened thick black leather, and the neck collar and face-guard are blackened steel. Over the face/mouthguard is a peculiar signage. several jagged marks and designs etched in with dark maroon, barely able to be seen. On the back of the steel collar, is a peculiar sort of plumage. Sticking from it is a fan of black long, thin feathers that are not stiff, and flow when walking/moving.

He wears a black-brown comfortable long sleeved shirt, that is worn like a robe, as it has no buttons or ties. The sleeves are long, and cover the hands up to the fingers. Under this is usually a dark gray or black t-shirt.

Over his wrists he wears blackened steel vembraces that almost reach his elbow. They are etched with a similar design that covers his mouth/face. On his left vembrace is tied a thin red piece of cloth that looks like a ribbon.

Around his waist is a thick leather belt that has a chain over it, soldered to a solid large rectangular buckle. The belt is used to hold up his black tattered shroud he wears dangling at his waist.

His pants are black, and are made of an exceptionally comfortable and breathable cloth. The pants are bloused into black leather buckled boots.

CHA! I knew you'd give us something good to work with. As you can see the IC is up. Oh and people let's not let any two people run away with this. Everyone needs a chance to together their character involved. So possibly keep it one post each till everyone post. Which isn't too hard right now since there is only 4 of us.

Hey Squall, seeing as how the people from Kiran are extinct my person can't exactly be Kirian, right?

They can because your people are "extinct" kinda like how Nod was "extinct" or we can do one better where you are part Kiran part another people.

Hey don't worry take your time if you need too. Quality over speed. Um but the main point of your character is acting as the counter balance to Nod. Aka. Your trying to stop him from starting a new world war.

Hmm....so my character would have already known about the existance of people from Nod. ((If this has already been revealed IC I haven't gotten that far yet. TT_TT))

That is completely up to you. Weather there are other Kiran like you who keep on eye on Nod. Or if you happen to pass the Nod character and just KNOW he is Nod. It's up to your imagination.

Feel free to take control of Jason anytime you need to guys. And also feel free to get us in flight to keep the story going.
