Vel’Kirn is in turmoil. The nation’s capital, Ris’sen Nial has been overrun by a strange band of lifeforms never witnessed by the native people. They are cold and cruel, clad in a strange dazzling armor and mounted atop beasts from beyond the mountains to the east. Their leader, Dal Minestra, demands obedience, usurping the throne of His Majesty King Luca Aneth d’Torus and murdering any who stand to oppose her.

For the people of Vel’Kirn, the end came swiftly. Their lives of freedom and sanctuary beneath the peaceful rule of their King ended when the Grand Priestess Minestra rose to power. With their advanced technology, the Delkari established a kingdom atop the ruins of the fallen Kirnan civilization, building towers of steel and monuments of unnaturally carved stone. None are spared the whip, the Kirnan forced into slavery and passing each day with a lingering wish to die before the sun again rises.

The Delkari, as the advanced peoples of the East called themselves, were not warlike at their core, but it seemed they cared little for the lives of any other race, treating the Kirnan like animals by feeding them slop and rationing them dirty water even when the Delkari technology could easily produce food and water enough to support their nation and more. To the Kirnan, they were monsters, oppressors of their home and tyrannous usurpers to the throne of King Luca. To the Delkari, the dark-skinned people of the West were less a people than the mounts that pulled their carriages.

Two centuries have passed since the occupation. Gradually, the Kirnan have learned to accept their place among society on the public front while scurrying in the shadows to turn profitable deals on the Delkari black market through channels established by those that cared more for financial gain than the status quo. The native peoples of the former Vel’Kirn survive in shabby housing projects thrown together from the dismantled dwellings that once dotted the capital city of Ris’sen Nial, performing menial labor by day and wilting in their misery each night. It is little better than the conditions they suffered during the initial occupation, when slave labor was used to quickly establish fortifications and build refineries and plants for the new Delkari kingdom.

Some of the Kirnan have attempted to escape the miserable life of servitude, fleeing in whatever direction they could in hopes of finding a better life among the wilds. A few have succeeded. Others have decided to take the knowledge they’ve acquired of Delkari weapons and technology and put them to use in the effort to retake their nation. It’s a menial pastime, no more than a disillusioned group of thugs making trouble for the Delkari politicians and police forces. Civil unrest has risen, but the dreams of retaking Vel’Kirn, or even the renamed capital of Balgrim alone, are far from seeing significant progress.

At least, that’s what the Delkari believe. The resistance, known as the Des Menis e’Kora – or the Rebirth of Our Home – have a single goal in mind. Led by the descendent bloodline of King Luca d’Torus, the DMK have gradually compiled weapons, information, and even influence within the occupied nation, preparing for a moment of opportunity. Small factions exist across the country, communicating via the Delkari underground of men and women that hold an unscrupulous nature by their people’s standards.

The Delkari are led, in both war and politics, but the Matriarchal High Priestess Minestra. She is ageless, blessed by the Gods and purvey their will upon her people. But she was thrown away by her own nation. Professing a religion that was called blasphemous in Delkar, she gathered her thousands of loyal followers to march west, where they came upon and quickly dominated the ‘heathens’ called the Kirnan.

Kill the Matriarch and the Delkari will fall. Such is the very definition of the Des Menis e’Kora’s aim. As a member of the DMK, you fight alongside your comrades, raiding weapon stores, pillaging food transports and spying on Delkari diplomats for information to be used as blackmail in later endeavors. The cogs of destiny are spinning, plans are being set into motion, opposition is springing forth from the shadows left and right, but the indomitable spirit of the Des Menis e’Kora urges you forward!

We will fight, and we will retake our home, in the name of King Luca d’Torus!
