Star Wars: The Underground

This seems really cool, and I'd love to join...

But sadly I don't know all that much about Star Wars...
And you guys have been talking, and it has been confusing the hell out of me.

I sort of agree, Eternity. I'm a little confused- though i thought i knew quite a bit about the series.

And there's the problem i always see in doing SW RPs [though i love them none the less, of course!!]. There's way too much explored in the universe to begin putting your own story lines, if you want to even use canon material. It makes it hard to have a jedi- (when the jedi have supposed to be in hiding,) and Sith (where the sith were the Emperor, and Darth Vader [as well as Galen Marek or whatever his name was.. Starkiller].)... right?

So i guess, what i'm really getting at.... i'm just sort of lost on when this is taking place, and what the situation is. Though i'd assume you're going to be stating that at the beginning of the story? or something?

Aw, sorry you two are confused. Star Wars has a lot of backstory to it which can be extremely overwhelming. (I was on the Star Wars Wikia page, and one link leads you to another, and another, and it just never ends! There's so much to the story.)

I can definitely see where you're coming from, Spectre. There's already so much laid out and set in stone, that it's hard not to step on any canon toes.

As far I can tell, this role-play is going to be taking place just after the last movie (Return of the Jedi), after the battle of Yavin. The fall of the Empire in the Return of the Jedi took place in the year 4 ABY. So it'd be sometime after that. What's going on during that time? It really depends on what year it is. (I just go off the timeline.) The New Republic is formed in 5 ABY and gains control again over Coruscant in 7 ABY. In 8 ABY, Leia married Han, and a year later, they have Jacen and Jaina. In 10 ABY, the Galactic Empire recaptures Coruscant. In 11 ABY, Leia becomes the Chief of State of the New Republic.

Basically, this role play is going to be taking place after the fall of the Empire. There's only a few key details you need to know. First off, there's a new Jedi Academy that Luke runs that trains new Jedi. Second, the Empire has been broken off into small groups of officers and stormtroopers known as the remnant.

The Jedji Academy was constructed in the year 30 ABY, so it's a bit of time after the last movie. And, get this, in the year 40, Han and Leia's son Jacen, who has become a sith lord (Darth Caedus), is killed by his sister Jaina. Craziness.

Lol Fate, I love how I try and make things simple and you come in with the timeline thing and make it complicated again. You take your Star Wars very seriously it seems. An exact date isn't set for this RP, there's just a Jedi Academy. Just because EU says it was made at a certain time doesn't mean I'm going to go by what it says. Like I said, this isn't going to be a dead on accurate portrayal of Star Wars, it's just purely for fun. So, let's throw the timeline in the recycle bin just this once.

Is there still room for non-force users, mercenaries and the like? It seems (if I'm fully understanding what I've read thus far, I know just enough about Star Wars to be a danger to myself, though usually not to others. >< ) it might center around a Jedi Academy?

Sure there is room for non-force users, I actually encourage them for this RP since I want to keep them to a minimum. I understand how hard it is not to be a force user though, since they're so awesome, but it makes things over complicated with so many Jedi and Sith to keep track of. I'm thinking 4 force users over all will be fine, so long as we stick with the master/apprentice thing. I'm thinking maybe 8 people for this RP at most, 4 force users, 4 non.

Sounds good. I have a friend signing up for the site that will occupy another one of those spots. I mainly just want to keep the number of force/non force people balanced.

I think then, if you don't mind my noobish-ness in the Star Wars universe, (gently steer me where I go wrong, I can take a hint >< ) I'll take one of those non-force user spots with a mercenary then? If appropriate, a former Empire noncom, who "skipped ship" when things took a turn for the worse, and is now scraping together a living and something approaching a new life doing what she knows best... ? Mebbe? I'll put together a character sheet... once I find the templates.... >< heh

That sounds good, Igraine. I like it! I'm not sure there really are character template sheets though. I think you can do them however you like, make them as long or as short as you want. At least, that's what I assume.

Lu's being awesome and amazing, and helping me at the moment to put together a character that won't be embarrassingly out of character in the Star Wars universe. hehehe I should have it virtually complete tonight-ish.

*ugh* NEVER send someone with OCD to a wiki site... we get lost, and sidetracked, and... yeah. Well, I have the beginnings of a character for this, at least, based on what Lucien helped me with, and some of what I found, though I am reserving the right to develop more of her along the way: Sabine

I'd love to join something like this, but my Star Wars knowledge is severely lacking and I fear I'd make a character that did injustice to the lore. But this is a great idea Lucian and I'll definitely be following closely.

Sorry I've been busy with personal stuff and forgot to check this when I popped in last.

If everyone would be so kind as to post me a link to their character sheets I'll go through them and start working on some sort of plot to start off with. After that I can get this RP under way.

I'm well versed in assorted Star Wars lore, especially the EU after the movies and during the Clone Wars (I read alot. Most of my library is made up of various Star Wars novels, comics, and video games. )

Alright, I apologize about the unexplained absence. I had some personal ordeals that kept me from the site. However, I've returned and I'm still interested in doing this.

I would like to make some changes though. After going through characters I've realized there isn't much variety. Force users, mercenaries, bounty hunters, and a medic is about all I'm given to work with, and it just won't do. WHERE'S THE SKILLED STAR PIOLETS!! WHAT ABOUT THOSE INVOLVED IN THE NEW REPUBLIC!! So I've decided that we should probably re-think our character roster. I'm not sure right now who should go or who should stay, but we definitely need some new material. Hate to say this people, but BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD!

Yes. I've decided it would be better if there were only two force users. I'll be taking one of the slots (since it's my RP >.>) which leaves one slot left. I'll leave it open to the first person that enters this thread and says DIBZ! Other than that, your character, Fate, was very original and I don't think you need to worry about changing her. I also think we should only have one bounty hunter, but it's okay if there's two that work together. I'm just worried about things being jumpy in the RP.

I think that's probably for the best. Okay, and great. ^^
