4th July Plans

So ... with 4th of July on Saturday A national holiday filled with lots of celebrating, drinking, eating, getting in touch with family and generally being merry. What will you be doing?

I've got some good plans and am thoroughly looking forward too it. Going too friends house for dinner (probably BBQ) and Wii games. Hilarity usually ensues with Wii games. She is also an amazing cocktail mixer, so I'll probably end up legless.

However, I plan to surprise her. Normally they do all the work, all the cooking and everything. This year I'm going to make some surprise cupcakes. I'm thinking "Cheeky Burger Slider Cupcakes" or just simple "Red, White and Blue Cupcakes" ... depends on how much energy I have tomorrow (day off YAY) and if I can be bothered.

Basically. No definite plans set, but I know for sure I'm going to get tore up the entire weekend from Friday to Monday, with plates from every cookout I can find.

I don't know for sure what I'll be doing.

Route 1: I'll be working at least part of the day. To achieve this route, my boss has to call me tomorrow and tell me that I'm working on the 4th. As of yet, I only know that I'll be working at some point on the weekend.

Route 2: I'll be going with my family to a friend-of-the-family's house. To achieve this route, I basically just can't be working / have any alternatives that I like better. I'll probably end up here for a portion of the day anyway, whether it be in the morning or later on (this depends, again, if I work / what shift I have). I'll enjoy this option if I can actually go in the pool. >.>

Route 3: On the off chance that my friend invites me over to her house for the 4th, like she's done in the past, this would be achieved. I'd also have to accept, and I don't really know if I would, since my friend currently has a boyfriend who would most likely (a.k.a. definitely) attend their barbecue, and I don't think I'd enjoy myself much if he was there as well.

Grillin' and beerin'.

I try to keep these things simple, to be honest. Grillwise, I intend to do some sort of rub or marinade for the steaks, but I haven't gotten that far along yet.

Tums? Nah, I'm a veteran at holiday "gatherings".

If anything I'll just need an entire day to sleep in afterward. Hah.

Me and my friend are taking old art projects we made (with paper towel rolls, newspaper, and something white, holey and powdery) and filling them with explosives of all kinds like fireworks. The explosion shall be magnificent.

Cocktails and the Wii sound like an amazing combination!

Grilling and drinking beer sounds like what Tony/onenitedrive will be doing! Lol. We intend on buying some simple fireworks from the store tomorrow and will probably be doing them on the 4th. We also were going to make plans with another couple (Josh and Amanda, for those of you who saw their picture that I posted in the Post Your Picture thread about the Harry Potter exhibit) to a fair. I'm not from around here (even though we've lived here for nearly a year now), so I'm not sure what exactly it is or what to expect, but it could be fun.

I LOVE the 4th of July! It's warm out, there are lovely fireworks in the sky, you get to have fun doing your own fireworks and such, and it's just an overall good feeling. The booming of the fireworks in the distance I've always found to be kind of relaxing too, like..."Hey, there are people out there enjoying themselves." I'm not sure really it can be described, but it's definitely one of my most favorite holidays.

'kay, so I'm officially going with option one. Boss called, and I'm working from noon 'till five, which should be fun, and then I'll probably get picked up and head over to the friend-of-the-family's house.

Well, that's good then, isn't it? Make a bit of money, plus you don't have to worry about not enjoying yourself at your friend's because of her boyfriend.

I know, I'm happy about it. But I probably wasn't worrying about the friend anyway, since there was no talk whatsoever of us getting together on the fourth. We are getting together on the fifth, though, which is most excellent.

I'm actually kinda excited to go to work on the fourth. It's been a while since I've had to deal with a swarm of people, and I'm hoping that tomorrow'll be the day.

Hope you still manage to get some pool time in Lara Sounds like its gonna be a blast for all of you (especially Mezzy - careful with that ) and Fate, I'm sure it will be awesome

I'm preparing to start making the cupcakes Sooooo looking forward to decorating them. Even get to make marshmallow fondant. However, cannot start yet coz Tega is asleep on the sofa and I make too much noise in the kitchen ( )

So far so good with the baking. Marshmallow icing is hella fun to make. Its amazingly messy at the beginning and gets stuck EVERYWHERE! Think I dyed my fingers yellow making the fake American cheese for them. Cupcakes made, just need to put it all together

And get this! Friends just came over and I told them to check out my American cheese. They both thought it was real cheese and asked why it was squishy when they poked it. I almost fell over laughing. Had to tell them it was my fake cheese.

Not a national celebration day for me. Go play with yourselves while I'm at work.

Any ways. Burger cupcakes worked. They look like mini sirloin burgers I'm soooo chuffed! Cannot wait for the party-goers reactions. They'll know they are cupcakes ... I'm not that mean ... but the appearance is going to be awesome

Tega helped a great deal with the icing which was extremely messy to make. He poured on more sugar and even suggested red dye and well as yellow. It looks like real pieces of American cheese We're gonna use the remainder of the fake cheese to play a practical joke on our good friend. We're gonna put it in her fridge and then later on suggest cheese and crackers ... since it feels and looks like soft cheese inside the ziplock bag.

If you wanted to be mean, put the stuff in a condom and put it in a couple's house when the husband isn't there so it looks like someone's got an STD.

I should find help.

I had a bad headache all day, but today/tomorrow, I will handle the cookout that I had to put off. Actually, it works out better because now more people can show.

So it's a win.

I had a headache all day yesterday too, Heyseuss. Very strange and unfortunate. That's good though at least that you'll be having your cookout today.

Onenitedrive and I just threw Pop Its from our balcony and lit sparklers. xD It was...uneventful.
