Asdrubaels Personal Art Stuffs

Here's where I'll be posting a few personal projects and drawings of mine. Also, I won't be taking any requests (I have about 5 that I need to finish on DeviantArt, and I really do need to be making money otherwise.) So yep, just a few things that I've done for my Eidolon's Aria project.

There's nothing in the world like a Map.
Just looking at maps makes stories, cultures and lands pop up in my head. ^_^
It's the blank canvas of the art of writing. *wistful sigh*

Very much so. It's so big as well, there's so much to fill into that map, like various cultures and whatnot. I'm even having a hard time doing it myself. Been meaning to make a roleplay centered around that world, and it's partly done. A huge project.

Yeah, I also saw your world-building site. Huzzah for organization! ^_^ I'm too paranoid about my own stuff to put it on the internet--though, in a way, maybe it would help me work on it more.

How'd you make the map so awesomely, by the way? With the land and mountains and things? Is it a program, or are you just that awesome? I mean I can draw maps no sweat, sure, but not make the final product look that good! Teach me your ways! xD

I actually did the map in photoshop with the default rock textures and whatnot. I actually followed a tutorial on the Cartographer's guild website by a member who actually doesn't do maps on the site anymore. She was really more fantastic than me. But anyway, I have the .PDF and I could link you the tutorial. I also had a tablet to help me at the time. It's recently broke on me, but a friend is sending me a new one to be awesome.

It's mostly just dealing with the cloud generator, channel maps and beveling and embossing things.

All your maps are great. You can really see the time you put into them, very commendable.

Ahhh, cloud rendering. I've done that.
I have GIMP, not photoshop, so I don't have quite the resources, but I know it can do that much, with the channels and things. ^_^

Actually most of the maps I make are by hand. The disadvantage is that they don't have the natural-looking mountains and things.

Ah. Even I don't think the mountains I did are terribly natural looking. They still don't look quite right to me. =/

I really want to do more map making, even sell commissions of maps. I just really need to get a tablet again. I really also need to do actual factual commissions too, lol. Waiting for a response on a job (aka waiting for the hiring committee to set up a training class), so until then I'll probably be living off of any commissions I can get.
