Alright! Thanks for the reply ETHEREAL.

So I'm sure you know what a mercenary is, yeah? A person who works for money or a reward for their services?

Well just put a whole bunch of them in a building that hands out jobs, requests and news of places that ask them to fight for whatever reason (get ride of bandits, defend homes or a group of people, escort to destination B etc) will compensate for money for their services.

And after the job is complete, they come back to report that the job is complete and either take another one or rest etc.

Pretty simple, right? All I ask is for you (and others if they are interested) to please include the guild in your posts every once in a while (every three to seven posts or something like that).

If you would like to add your ideas, improvements or suggestions, I'm more than welcome to consider any and all!

A plot?
Well you're character can come in for a few jobs and then after some details describing the guild and some members between the both of us, we'll both head out on a job together. We return with some new recruits and others interested in looking for some more work. One of us could have some money troubles, like gambling, large debts or rent that needs to be paid in the next week or eviction and then we both get blamed by the authorities that we stole/ committed a crime we didn't do but were close enough to the scene to be the highest suspects.

So then somewhere along the line it turns into a race for the highest paying job in order to pay of everything versus several other mercenaries, both greedy and elite.

Hows that for some sort of plot bunny? Ha ha!

So basically, we make stuff happen as we write without a plot to guide us. A free form roleplay right? It's cool, but I suggest we give our characters a deeper goal to pursue other than everyday money troubles... xD It's gonna get boring in the long run.

What the ultimate goal may be, doesn't have to be shun in light from the very beginning. Perhaps somewhere along one of their jobs they stumble upon a deep, dark secret or a conspiracy scheme or anything of the sort.

See something they shouldn't, huh? That's definitely an idea for some drama and character depth. Very nice. I like it! ^^;

Sorry I seem green a this, it's just I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.

What kind of secret conspiracy do you have in mind of suggestion? An under the radar war between some sort unknown species or other? The biggest heist of all time? The world we know it is actually fake and we need to discover how to escape or be killed?

Hey, I meant no offense xD

Well, I had this idea of someone behind the scenes would use our guild to their advantage by placing anonymous requests beneficial to their faction. These anonymous requests are sought after by many of our guild's members due to the "High Payout" but... also these requests are "High Risk"

Then comes our characters who chanced upon being the first to take the anonymous request that pops out in the guild board after quite some time, only to find out that they are being requested to take out one of their own guild members...

I can go into detail more if you like but this is just a teaser. We can twist it the way we like it from there.

Oh wow! Now that is a twist!

I wonder about the decision of offing their own guild member. Just what would motivate them to make that choice? Would they be forced to? Would the person they are to take out seem like shady person of some sort and that all facts are pointing to make them guilty?

And how about they hear some staged conversations that make them start distrusting other members of the guild?

So far I'm liking this! ^^ Please continue with details! And our guild should be filled with members who have a competitive streak. And maybe with the person they were suppose to off, whether we decide to or not, we discover another note/request or trail of more targets? How's that sound?

Interesting! Lets do that. But wouldn't it make it far more interesting if the Anonymous requester decided to place a hit on a certain guild member because that person has known something which he shouldn't have? Although the guild member doesn't care about what he saw or heard, the faction behind the scenes does and deemed it necessary to dispose of the Merc they hired.

Apparently, our characters have a dire need for quick cash that time and decided to take on the job, done it successfully and after some time, a couple more guild members get murdered and... people began to wonder...

Murdering their fellow guild member for cash would add more to character depth due to the fact that it would be a curse they would carry for the rest of their lives should they find out who's hiring who and who's ordering to kill who, and the reasons behind it... assuming they live to see another day of course...

Who knows... a hit could have been placed on them as well. xD

I could go on and on and on but then it wouldn't be a collaboration anymore xD

Very true it wouldn't be a collab anymore but your plot twists are very addicting to listen to.

Ooh, how about after several twists, they are on the verge of discovering who is pulling the strings when all that happens is undone and they are the only ones who remember it ever happening. And those they trusted or gave them help seemed to now know either except a few who later show signs of hiding something and could have been paid or threatened to keep quiet.

Meanwhile we are off while our story is happening, several people we met previously or knew are shown to be not who they say they were.

As for my character, I'll be a somewhat talented mercenary who after a tragic job or past experience had decided to take a break from job hunting and instead works at the indoor bar of the guild. Just thought I'd throw that in there! Ha ha.

This is getting addicting! ^^=

That's perfectly fine. My character idea would be a "Lone Wolf" kind of merc who frequents the guild's bar to just enjoy a good drink after a job well done... or botched. No tragic pasts, just a lot of blood on his hands.

Also, your ideas too are brilliant. Now all we have to do is to just piece them together while we write out our story.

By the way, just wondering if you're going to add more players to this?

I think arranging this ideas is going to kinda complicated. Maybe we should number of note the ones we like the best and then arrange them in the order they will happen?

You're character sounds like a perfect image of a mercenary.

As for the more players....I'm thinking maybe one other person? Too many people who don't post after a while will throw us off. Do you have any suggestions as to how to ask who has a reputation of posting frequently?
I'm thinking just one more person.

One more person... Hmm, we can't really force our ideas unto others. We just have to wait for them to come to us. But you do know this is the one-on-one thread right? Personally, I think we can pull this one off without trouble. NPCs are there to be created to fit our needs perfectly.

As for arranging the ideas, it wouldn't be necessary. We'll throw them all into our story when the time is right, and I'm pretty sure we'll know when is the appropriate time to toss the ideas in as we go along with the story. Wink

I've already thought of curreny: Admantine Coins for everyday transactions and middle class usage. Upper class and royalty exchange bulk notes called Republic Dollars. Lower class use Sterling Bits.

How about we're a small band of heroes among thieves? Not all the guild have mercy when taking a job but some are moral like my character. So when it comes to drama, not everyone agrees or will be good all the time hence why some characters will be weak when they need to be strong and vice versa during a critical situation.

As for the name? Either Forsaken Wolves, Fallen Blade or Raventyde.

Forsaken Wolves sounds appealing to me, considering my character would be the Lone Wolf type. Very Happy Well then, it's settled.

Our guild is flexible, can be ruthless or can be merciful at times... well, depends on who's doing the job/request. My merc would be ruthless. ;P
