[b]Digital Muse's character world[b]

Her planet is an Earth-sized world with a high technology level and a dense population. It orbits its dying sun closely, but rotates slowly, so a day is 9 Earth days long. Because of its proximity to the star, the planet is actually oblong from the gravitational pull, causing a great deal of seismic activity on the planet surface. As a result, this wet world is in a constant state of eruption causing sulfuric acid to permeate the atmosphere and making the surface is uninhabitable.

Her world started out as a mining colony. However, over time, a stable government established itself in the numerous floating cities. The ruling classes are split into three branches with the Judicial and the Religious branches having the most power and the Executive branch dealing with the day to day bureaucracy. The Judicial and Religious branches are in a constant state of conflict.

The Highest level of authority is the Judicial branch similar to our Supreme Court. The elected officials, known as Judges, are elected for life. They control the military. The attitude of the military is to be strong, but not expansionist, so most of their efforts are put into the defense of the home planet. The Military is also tasked with maintaining law and order within the floating cities.

A close second in authority is the Priesthood. The dominant religion is based on an influential monotheistic belief that their God is directly involved in their lives and that reincarnation is the norm. Constant devotion and prayers are required and there is a rigid hierarchy within the rank and file. Only the highest level of priests can ever step into the inner sanctum of churches where God resides. The Priesthood controls the few telepaths that are born within the population and they are trained from early childhood.

The population, as a rule, is harmonious, but aloof, not welcoming outsiders or seeking to dominate other worlds. Law and order is moderate with sections of each floating city having run-ins with the law as do most cities on Earth.

Technology is very high on this world and expanding. Floating cities, realistic-appearing robots and flying transportation is the norm. Artificial gravity helps support the cities and prevents those living on the world from being crushed by the intense planetary gravity. Interstellar travel is commonplace, but requires a great deal of resources.
