MF - May, 2010

Right on time this month! A little late in the day, but we won’t concern ourselves with such minor trivialities. The important thing is that the features are here, and while I’m remorseful over one of the facets of this month’s endeavor, I am very pleased with all of the other features! Most certainly, the features for this month are very well-deserved, and I’m happy to be announcing them.

So, without further ado, I give you the May 2010 Monthly Features!

Art & Design
Eternity – Eternity’s Artwork
Though Eternity has been around on FOG since the baby days, when we were merely a cloudy wisp of mist settling over the underbrush, I was only recently granted my first peek into her artistic talent. While her thread may contain only a few images thus far, I was quite impressed with the lovely artwork she was able to produce.

The subject of her art is unique, depicting a humanoid race that seems to be known as Sea Dragonesses. Eternity did well in capturing the serpentine qualities of a reptilian-influenced race while infusing humanoid characteristics into the upper anatomy. Furthermore, the colors and shading were executed marvelously to create very attractive pieces of artwork that certainly deserve a feature!

Writing & Journalism
Attie – Lyrics From The Lyricist
Since joining Footsteps of Ghosts back in February, Attie has been occasionally contributing her lyrical compositions to the writing forum here on the boards. Though I’ve been keeping up with each new addition and have thoroughly enjoyed every poetic verse, it only now occurred to me that song lyrics were just as much a written work as the prose of a short story!

This month’s feature goes to Attie’s lyrical compendium for its beautifully crafted works of poetic art in the form of heartfelt lyrics. Each song is a display of deep emotion that truly shows that Attie is one who has a strong love for her art and a mind for lyrical expression.

Roleplaying
Viemera: The Essence of Deceit
On October 5th, 2009, Loki made the opening post of a roleplay that would become the longest-running game on the Footsteps of Ghosts forums. Though not colossal in page numbers, the talent and dedication placed into this single literary gem serves as a perfect example of what we hope to see here on FOG. The dedicated members of this roleplay more than deserve the spotlight for creating and sticking with this marvelous world of fantasy and forging ahead with a gripping and intriguing plot that has kept each of them coming back for more over the course of seven and a half months.

Loki, Digital Muse, quakernuts, SilvanArrow and Sunwolf007: you all deserve individual recognition for your resolve in seeing to the continuation of Viemera. More than any other roleplay on the forums currently, I’m proud of this one for being so alive with talented and dedicated writers who know the true value of seeing a story through to the end. Thank you for serving such a wonderful example to the rest of the community to follow, and please continue to see it through to the end.

Sound Bytes
Unfortunately, both of the potential winners I had selected for this month’s Sound Bytes monthly feature are unavailable to link. Since I cannot give the feature to a file that no longer exists, there will be no Sound Bytes feature this month. I encourage the users of FOG to be more outgoing in their musical, lyrical, poetic and/or verbal pursuits, and to make use of the Sound Bytes thread to those ends.

I hope that, next month, there will be a new selection of Sound Bytes from which I can choose a deserving feature that serves as an encouraging example for the rest of the members here on Footsteps of Ghosts.

Member of the Month
Hello Danger
Hello Danger joined FOG back in its infancy; a mere two months or so after it had been created. Since then, he has been an active member of the community in both the OOC and IC sections of the forums, contributing to RP projects like Emoria and OOC banter in threads the likes of ‘Post yo’ Picture!’ For being around and about and keeping a sociable and pleasant air about himself that gives new members one more friendly face to look for amidst the rough and tumble world of literature, Hello Danger has earned himself the Member of the Month feature and status for the May-June term of 2010.

Thank you, Danger, for being a friendly and supportive member of FOG. I know that we’re all very pleased to have you around, and I hope that you remain with us for quite some time to come. Enjoy your newfound status while it lasts, and be sure to name those ghosties!

Congrats to the winners! Its an honor to be involved with such a team of great and talented individuals. I keep telling my writing friends about the RP because I am having way to much fun writing it. Hopefully we can continue the awesome level of quality we have running right now in the RP.

And congratulations to Hello Danger! Sounds like you've really made your mark on FOG, so I couldn't think of a better person to pass down the Ghosty Quintet! (And I just discovered that I earned the Apparition rank during my MotM status, so I have a new ghosty friend! )

I hadn't realized that Viemera had been active for so long.
