Subject: Retrieval of top personnel and classified documents

Note: In receiving this document you have hereby read and understood the specifications of your contract. Violations of this contract will result in the termination of your employment and legal action will be taken.

Location: Tetri Research Facility on Planet G67-JH9 in the Thren system

Objectives: Locate and retrieve Dr. Sorensen. Recover classified documents Z579, t453, kr08 along with all files on the mainframe.

The Private Military squad Zeta will be providing the escort service of three Biosyn Corp. employees. The three will consist of an engineer and two of our information technologists. All members of this team will be meeting aboard the Research Vessel Imperion. From there they will be transported to the planet where they will reach the surface through means of a lander provided by Biosyn.

Once landed, the team will proceed to the research facility via an APC and complete the objectives. Upon completion the team is to make its way to the port where they will be picked up by the lander and returned to the Imperion.

The team will be paid in full once the documents and Dr. Sorensen are safely returned to Biosyn headquarters.

We at Biosyn would like to thank you all for your cooperation in this most important job for our corporation. We wish you luck, and expect to see you soon.

What sort of technology are we looking at with this RP? Are humans still using ballistic weapons or have they advanced to laser technology and put them in weapon form?

Or somewhere inbetween? Like, can we expect energy-jacketed solid rounds?

I'm going to say balistic stuff. (Mostly because I'm not fond of lasers in sci-fi, and have only seen it done well a few times) Just, more advanced balistic stuff.

Though your idea is intreguing, Cyper...Gimme a sec to ponder it out, then I'll get back to you guys. Any other questions?

Is there any scifi saga that could give us some idea as to what the space crafts, uniforms/armor, etc look like and how they perform?

As of now, I am envisioning a universe similar to Mass Effect, is that not too far from what you had in mind?

Mass Effect is probably a good representation of how I envision the ships and armor, though I'm drawing from lots of different scources for insperation.

Also,Cyper, are you interested in joining this? If so, what position would you like?

EDIT: As far as weapons tech goes, I'm going to say that its just advanced ballistics. Plasma weaponry is in the expirimental stages, but not readily avaliable. So, just advanced bullets, if that makes any sense.

Not smart bullets, like lock-on stuff, just SPAAAAAACE BULLETS.

We are a Private Military. No connection to the government. Its run like a company. The company hires out its soldiers to the highest bidder. In this case, Biosyn Corporation was the highest bidder. So the PM company sent Zeta squad to escort the Biosyn employees.

So, while the soliders all probably started out in a branch of the government military, they now are not serving the government.

...I can't believe I forgot to come up with a name for the PM Company...I'll do that.

If you've seen Avatar, Loki, I assume its a lot like that. Just ex-military men that are now little more than mercenaries (yet mercenaries on a leash).

Alex stands just shy of 5’10” tall, is 180 pounds of lean muscle, and an average frame. His hair is jet black and hangs just above his brow which is accented by his lightly tanned skin. On his face is a closely trimmed balbo style beard that is just as dark as the hair on his head, though shows the occasional fleck of silver. There is nothing that stands out regarding his facial features, which only helps to draw attention to his forest green eyes. As with most soldiers, his hands and feet are calloused and his skin is tough though bearing no scars or unusual marks with the exception of a tattoo on his right shoulder that is the insignia for his unit in the Marines.

Complete Record of Service:
As an adolescent, Alexander worked for his father’s urban demolition business. Although a lot of it involved wrecking balls and other heavy machinery, there were several instances where they would use explosives to allow larger buildings to implode upon itself. It was this part of the job that interested him the most and learned almost everything about it, though he was never certified to actually handle the explosives before he enlisted in the Marines at the age of 18.

It wasn’t long before his superiors learned about his experience with explosives and enrolled him in a program that focused on infiltration and reconnaissance once he made it through basic training. For the next eight years following this training, he was assigned to a laundry list of missions and sorties. Most of them consisted of using plastique to take out key targets that would make the grunts’ life much easier. For the most part, his team was mostly confronted by small groups of armed individuals that were unaware and dealt with quickly and easily. There had been a number of instances where something had gone wrong with the mission causing his team or himself to be pinned down by gunfire. For the most part, this is the closest he had ever come to fighting in a conventional conflict. Although he managed to come through such encounters with only minor injuries, he learned to despise such exchanges.

After his eight-year term, Alexander was honorably discharged from service and tried his luck in the private sector. It only took him a month for him to become bored with civilian life and yearned for adventure. Despite his record, the only position the Marines would have offered him would have been behind a desk or some other mundane job on some random military base. Seeing no other alternative, Alex decided to freelance as a mercenary.

Name: Raymond "Devil" Kyler

Physical Profile: Devil stands at around a regular 5'11, and built strong and fast due to his past history of fighting. His light blue eyes contrast to his dark brown hair, and his smile has been known to disarm even the most defensive of people. White skinned but tanned, Devil has no noticable features. His cropped short hair and broad chest make him look just like a the standard grunt that the military would put on recruiting posters. Tattoos cover his body with ornate pictures and symbols that meaning is lost on all but himself. Angel wings span his back shoulder blade to shoulder blade, and right down to the small of his back. Another tattoo comes up and curls around his right eye, imitating a targeting lens on a helmet. If it weren't for these artistic paintings on Devil, he would blend in easily to any crowd.

Prior history includes brief employment with Unified Military. Several small scale battles occured while in the service, showed patience during moments of duress. Continued monitering possible employee for further skills in use.

Battle of Takera: A massive assault where the Unified Military launched their forces on a rebel stronghold in the Kilharra system, on the planet Takera. Kyler was one of the first marines down to the surface. His squad managed to take and hold a power plant that was crucial to shutting down rebel anti-aircraft batteries around the stronghold. Estimated casualities for both sides were estimated to be in the tens of thousands. Post-combat reports indicate that the rebel forces fought right down to the last man, woman, and child. None of the rebels surrendered, and none of the UM marines gave them a chance to do so.

Siege of Heron City: A few years into the future from the Battle of Takera, Heron city was named after a religious prophet who travelled the stars in search of converts for their new religion on Universal absolution. See folder JR - 726 for further information. The rebel army based out of the Oasis system invaded the planet of Hye, and immediately lay siege to the capital city. Kyler's regiment had been placed there as a tempory defensive force upon hearing that reports coming in from the Oasis system were slowly confirming heavy Rebel activity. The reports were off, and the Unified fleet, designated Alpha 6, were quickly outnumbered and outgunned. Only two cruisers out of four managed to enter slipstream and escape. The rest of the fleet, including the five frigates, six carriers, and four destroyers were destroyed within moments of the surprise attack. The rebel fleet was massive, and investigations have gone into effect since then on how they managed to raise such a large fleet. With fifteen destroyers, twenty frigates, ten carriers, and seven massive cruisers. They quickly landed their forces, which was estimated to be in the hundreds of thousands. The Black Devils Regiment only managed to fall back to Heron City and set up defenses before the landing force had touched down. The regiment consisted of the five thousand marine men and women, along with some support staff and some navy personel that had shuttled down to the planet to get some well needed R and R. Booby-trapping the entire city except for the core, laying down killzones, and establishing hit and run guerrilla tactics, the Devils managed to hold off the rebel advance for more than four weeks. It was on the fifth week that Unified fleets Beta 12 and Gamma 9, along with the two cruisers of Alpha 6 arrived to eliminate the Rebel fleet. Mop up of remaining rebel forces was relativly easy. Alpha 6 suffered 30% casualities through the entire siege, while before the Unified fleet had shown up, the Rebels were going on 80%.

A few years later, Mr. Kyler was honourably discharged from the service to a disagreement with a superior officer on tactics used including civilians. The officer obviously had contacts in the political circle of things, but had they pushed for more than an honourable discharge, they would have gotten themselves into a hole where they wouldn't be able to climb back out. Mr. Kyler joined with us just a few short years later.

Psychological Profile:

Analysis by Dr. Harold Stanforth

Mr. Kyler is one of the most friendly and honourable people to have ever set foot in the mercenary business. Why he would choose something that often requires dirty deeds is beyond me. He is completely sound of mind, but sometimes seems to lose focus of something. I have deemed this some sort of coping mechanism regarding the Battle of Takera, but I do not know for certain. During combat, his reaction times are solid, and he never enters those no focus moments. I think it is when he is given time to think that he does this to avoid thinking of what happened on Takera. In conclusion, Mr. Kyler is a completely reliable asset to this company, and will do as ordered unless it is morally wrong. I suggest sending him on 'clean' assignments only to avoid any infighting with superiors.

Position: Soldier, commonly referred to as the go-to guy.

Skills: Incredibly calm in situations of duress, jack of all trades, reaction times above average, marksmanship slightly above calculated average, top scores in the obstacle course. Excellent choice for recon, average choice for about everything else.

*Pollonium: A mineral mined at the edge of the galaxy. In its refined form, provides energy for vehicles and small passanger shuttles. In its unrefined form, is highly corrosive and can burn through human skin with ease. Pollonium rounds have been outlawed in several systems, but they are still used largely by mercenary based corporations.

Looking Good, Quakernuts! I'll accept him, though I am curious about those wrist gauntlet blades. Would you please explain those in further detail?

Sure!

Basically the blade is not serrated or anything like that, hence the word 'clean'. The blade itself is attached to an old school spring-loaded firing mechanism on the top of the wrist. There is a switch located just below the palm of both hands to activate the spring, and send the blades out of a small slit on top of the wrists. The user then can use them as an extension to their own arm. When they wish to retract them, they push the same switch and a signal is sent to four tiny mechanical arms within the gauntlet who then retract the blade and load it for further use.

My character will be up either tonight or early tomorrow. I hope that's quick enough.

Physical Profile: Edvin stands at a height of 5'9'' inches. He is thin and pale, with bright blue eyes and slightly graying and thinning blond hair. Despite his frail appearance, Edvin is capable of completing the standard physical training requirements, keeping him qualified for field operations for the Biosyn Corporation.
His large, slightly crooked nose and the wrinkles lining the edge of his eyes and mouth lend him a slightly less-than-serious demeanor, which Edvin uses to his advantage. Edvin will act as comic relief during field missions, but when necessary he has proven to have stern leadership qualities.

Complete Record of Service: Edvin Donovir inherited his position in the Biosyn Corporation from his father, Hess Donovir. Hess was disappointed in his son's chosen profession as an engineer, rather than something more upstanding and beneficial, and he died three years after Edvin received his position within Biosyn.
With the weight of his perceived failure, Edvin never competed to advance through the ranks to the status of chief engineer, which his superiors recognized he had the knowledge and capabilities for. Currently content with his position as a field operation engineer, Edvin has slowly let his father's legacy slide off of his shoulders and into the deep recesses of memory.

At the age of 35, Edvin was awarded with the Sigma-3 Engineering medal for his efforts in saving the Ab Aeterno, an ancient civilian vessel that suffered nearly fatal damages during a foiled pirate raid.
