The Malevolence of Diamonds

The Malevolence of Diamonds: The Multi-player version XD (OOC!!!) Chess_by_RichAllen

Kings, Queens
Pawns and Knights.
Guards upon Horseback
and Archers from Castle-top.
Elves from trees,
and Mages from shadows.

All are in my world. All were supposed to be my charge.
But a great deal has changed...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a world far different from our own, lived many people of many races and abilities. The people of the snow, with ice magicks and thick broad builds made for surviving cold weathers. The people of the desert, limber and trained in the arts of sand-fighting (further explanation later). Even the more commons folk, living in the center of Epsil, where the grass grows green and the forests grow greener.

In Epsil (the overall continent where most will begin in the story), many people live. This continent stretches in a rigid kite-like shape from the south pole of Aris (the overall world) to the north pole. But in the center of Epsil lives a great kingdom, with advancing technology that is on the verge of becoming steam-punk. Here lay two castles; the Castle of Duras, and the Caste of Levis.

These two kingdoms are struggling in a cold war of technology, trying to advance both magically and mechanically higher than the other. This war lead further into tensions which tore Epsil's center into two pieces; Duranon and Leveil.

When Duranon created the steam engine, they also created the Ether Breaker. It was a machine operated by mages, transferring magicks into machines and creating something that could honestly wipe out one of the two Kingdoms.

But before damage could come, were born two people meant to halt this great catastrophe.

The Goddesses of Lore.

The first Goddess was Avaltha; she was dark haired and wicked to many, but was the one who stopped the righteous in order to maintain an overall balance.

The second Goddess was Taura; who was a blond haired woman with a strong hand that warded off the ill-hearted. She was the one who protected the good and defeated the evil in order to maintain a balance.

Together the Goddesses of Lore destroyed the Ether Breaker, and Duranon and Leveil returned to a stalemate once more.

But as time continued, and a slight peace on Aris was born, the sister Goddesses fell into a feud of their own.
Avaltha began using her power to destroy the negotiators sent back and forth to strike up a peace contract between the two Kingdoms, thus halting the overall well-being of the two Kingdoms and keeping the cold war in play.

Taura refused to let it happen, so she decided to return to Aris once more, to tell the Kingdoms of the oncoming reign of peace herself.
But after having visited the Castle of Levis, her sister came to Aris as well.

And a great battle was born.

The battle between the Goddesses lasted 23 days and 23 nights. But finally, Avaltha had her victory. And when she had won, she wanted to make sure it was known.
She would not let her sister rise to glory again.

Avaltha used her greatest well of Arcane magicks to summon up Shadow Mages and the fated Ether Breaker. And she reversed it's purpose, and used the weapon to suck the immortal power out of Taura, leaving her but a weak human...

7 years have passed. A dark cloud hangs over Epsil where Avaltha's rule is prominent. The two kingdoms sit in a peaceful state, but the world is slowly slipping away, becoming a dark shadowy place where Avaltha's Shadow Pawns run free to kill the righteous and persuade the sinful.

But little did anyone know that the Goddess Taura still lived, and had spent her seven human years (not aging a whole seven years but instead perhaps three, due to semi-immortality) training hard to become physically strong once more. Once that was accomplished, Taura went on a journey.

First, she finds herself between the two kingdoms of Duranon and Leveil, creating a magnificent song that echoes through the night and reaches the hearts of the strong and good-hearted. She seeks a set of heroes to accompany her on the journey to find the Four Shrines of Lore, and return her power to its previous magnitude.

Here are the places you can come from, just assure you have a reason for being in one of the two kingdoms.
Oh, and the place between the two kingdoms is a trading village called Suval.

Deserts: Sandmen- these people are prone to quick hasty fighting, and are usually known to be able to almost teleport due to such evasive maneuvers. Because of such, they cannot wield heavy blades or multiple weapons (like a small sword and then knuckles and then a knife and bla bla bla). They always travel light and are usually tall limber people.

Grasslands/Kingdoms: These people can be a multitude of things. Sword fighters of many degrees mostly, and you should already know the basics on that if you are any kind of geek. :3
-A lot of Kingdom/Grassland fighters have exceptional strength.

Forests: Archers and sword-fighters reign here. Usually woodland people are more adept to fast fighting and are wiser than most when it comes to non-battle things. They have exceptional eyesight and hearing as well.

Wastelands: There are two types of fighters here. Thick bodied axe-fighters, or lean fighters wielding swords or some other form of blade. Wasteland fighters are more merciless than others and are usually more focused. They are also faster to predict weaknesses of the enemy.

North/South Poles: These people are usually thick and tall, made of lots of muscle with dark skin. They are trained in small bits of ice-based magick, and wield javelins and spears most of the time. They are keen to much endurance yet can prove to be slow in physical attacks.
