The Rafterman
The Kingdom of Grantue
The Rafterman (OOC/Sign-Ups) Cathedraltown

Rafterman is a vigilante, feared for his methods of "cleansing" the society. This role-play takes place within a fictional world set in times similar to those of medieval Europe. Society is controlled by the church, and the high priestess reigns supreme. Even the king, Sarkton IV, holds limited power within his own kingdom.

The plot is centered around Rafterman and his attempts to overthrow the tyranny in place due to the mind-washing of the high priestess. I will take the role of the Rafterman, but all other positions are open

In this time, there is alleged equality among all men. However, those refusing to abide by church law are either sentenced to exile, imprisonment, or, depending on the extremity of teir "crime," death. Rafterman, despite his crude and questionable methods, is working to instill a better future for the kingdom of Grantue.

Name: Unknown

Alias: The Rafterman

Age: Late thirties

Faction: Gentle Souls Organization

Occupation: Assassin and vigilante

Appearance: The Rafterman (OOC/Sign-Ups) Assassin_2

Personality: Seemingly cold and deliberately brutal.

Biography: The Rafterman has dedicated his life to pursuing the men and women who have devoted themselves to the church, and have ultimately, though often times unknowingly, devoted themselves to the high priestess. His alias was not something he had chosen for himself. He was granted the title due to his older methods of public execution.

Throughout his career, his personal name was lost to everyone, including himself. Every piece of information regarding his previous life has been tossed into the furnace, leaving him with nothing more than an alias and an endeavor.

Faction

The Everlasting – The Everlasting are a group created by the first and highest priest that had ever come to power within the kingdom of Grantue. This priest was intent on southern and western expansion of the kingdom, and with the king’s army, he did manage to conquer, occupy, and eventually settle several small regions that have since been added to the property of the current-day kingdom. He used the reasoning that a false god ruled the other colonies, and that barbaric treacheries were always at hand within those lands.

This group worships two deities, one malicious, and one, allegedly benign. The dark god has come to be known as Doske. The loving, though sometimes wrathful god is called Isker.

Gentle Souls Organization (GSO) – The GSO is a well-kept secret amongst the world, one that not even the informants of The Everlasting have discovered. This group has devoted itself to level the power within Grantue. Their current, long-standing mission is to separate religion from the monarchy. Although the organization works toward an ultimately peaceful goal, not one of its members could be described as saintly. They are all murderers, schemers, vigilantes, and devious tacticians.

They do not worship a god, but rather they seek guidance, wisdom, and understanding from their deceased colleagues and their betters.

King Sarkton IV’s Court – Sarkton began his rule while in his mid-twenties, and had noticed how constricted it had been from the start. He is a kindly king, but, unbeknownst to his people, he is also a coward. His entire court consists of a minuscule parliament with little to no power over the vast kingdom of Grantue. The high priestess uses his position for puppet politics; he answers to her and works only for her.

Sarkton IV and his people are expected to follow the religion and value of The Everlasting. They worship Doske and Isker for and during particular events, and under certain circumstances.

Name: Edwin Bishop

Alias: The Duke

Age: 28

Faction: Gentle Souls Organization

Occupation: The Confidante, Wealthy Tavern Owner

Appearance: Undeniably attractive and sophisticated, Edwin could steal the hearts of damsels with a glance as easily as he could the hearts of men with a blade. Light, feathery brown hair that is impeccably groomed is cut short, falling just above his ears. Slender eyebrows sit atop pale blue eyes, and his skin is flawlessly unmarked with a healthy tan. His flashing white teeth are one of his most deadly weapons, and a neat goatee surrounds his dashing smile. His nose is long and slender, and his jaw is strong and square. He dresses in fine, elegant clothing, yet avoids the silly frills, lacey garments, and gaudy jewelry worn by the aristocratic elite of Grantue. He has an aura of grace and mystery, and carries himself with pride, distinction, and a slight aloofness.

Personality: The complete polar opposite of Rafterman, Edwin Bishop believes in the idea of “hiding in plain sight.” He is outgoing, charismatic, flirtatious, and jovial. He often is the host of grand parties, playing the part of the wealthy merchant who tosses away his money on frivolous adventures. In reality, Bishop is just as cold, ruthless, and deadly as any member of the GSO. He calmly calculates the execution of each target to the second, and carries out his plans without mercy. He would gladly plunge a blade into any man himself; however he allows others to do the dirty work for him. As long as the job is done, Bishop is happy.

Biography: Raised in poverty, Edwin Bishop was a pauper child who suffered terribly from the abuses of the church. His father was arrested and presumably hanged, while his home was taken and Bishop and his mother were tossed out into the streets. He vowed to have revenge for his father, and worked his whole life towards that goal. Bishop became the apprentice of a shop keeper, and learned how to be a consummate business man. He opened up his own tavern, right in the center of the capital, and soon became very wealthy. Upon joining the GSO, he went by the name of The Duke. The name was a testament to his status in the community, and as a satire to his bitter hatred of the aristocracy.
