New homepage image & color updates

Pfft who needs to learn a foreign language when you can speak HTML? Of course I can't anyway...but I was just throwing that out there.

I do feel inclined to admit that on the front page, that FOG kinda looks like FOO to me, if you look at it too long. O.O But it looks sooo purdy!

Oh as for who made the footsteps sorry that was me. I get bored at night and often wander about creepy desolate forests to clear my thoughts. I also do crop circles and alien abductions on the weekend. Which reminds me, Fate I think I still have your purse from the other night...sorry it was a come and go sorta ordeal and although it may have felt like a mugging, I can assure you I was not after your wallet.

This seems not quite white and not quite gray. Easier on the eyes without being too dark.

You've made the color of links lighter, too, so the between-white-and-gray will match that better.

Mmmm, if we go any lighter than this, then the links and the text will seriously be indistinguishable. Trust me, I was playing around with it all morning. D: See, try typing in that lighter grey text and linking to something. Also, the lighter the text gets, the more the contrast, and the more the contrast, the harder it is on the eyes to read.

Oh, yeah, I just noticed how much darker the text looks...huh.

I'll get onenitedrive's opinion on the text too tonight (since this is his place too XD LOL). I'll also see if he can bold all links, so we don't have as much of an issue distinguishing them between the text. Finally, I'll have him see if he can add custom colors that we want in the colors to choose from here, to make changing text (to good colors) easier. XD

If you make the text lighter than the link color, then it'll be more noticeable, but then we're back to where we used to be pretty much.

I know you sent me an e-mail, but I post my comments here.

I like the color you have now, but Kalon's suggestion works pretty well too. I suggest maybe polling people to see what they'll say.

If you are able to edit the CSS of the layout, bolding the links should be easy peasy. I agree, it looks really great that way. It's a great option--especially to kick away from even considering the text being white again.

The white on black was a harsh contrast and tended to be a little glaring. I like the colors you're playing with now. We'll get there!

We don't have access to the CSS, but we can write our own CSS to take the place of some aspects and features around the message board.

So I'm still trying to understand how Forumotion works... But if that's the case--have you tried to download phpBB3 and taking the ProSilver CSS file? I'm pretty sure this is just a ProSilver based style... So they may have the same CSS tags. It might not hurt too much to try looking into.

I did like the cyan better than just gray, but whatever works.

I changed the font a smidgeon lighter...just a tad.

It looks like you Internet Explorer people see the text and the links nearly exactly the same. In other words, the font looks a lot brighter than it should be. If you use Firefox, the font is a little closer to what it should be, but it's still brighter/lighter than it is in actuality.

See now, if you had a Mac and used Safari or Camino, then your browser would register those colors as what they truly are. Only another reason to switch to Mac. (*cough*Blatantadvertisement*cough*)

Hey, ACK. Basically how it works is, I can figure out what the tags are for the DIVS, but I can't directly edit the code. In the control panel there is a box where I can add code which overwrites the original code. It can be a huge pain sometimes, but I learned about this web developer add-on for Firefox that helps me so much with identifying tags. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60

W00t, I'm glad, Ragter. I hate it when things don't look the way they should. Onenitedrive uses Explorer and sees the links and the regular text as nearly the same.

Well... he should use Firefox, They're clearly distinguishable, Firefox makes the links easier to see, you should use Firefox... Not likes it's the best or anything it's just Firefox... so get it...Firefox The better browser.

Hey Fate, just throwing up a suggestion here:

First off, I'm totally okay with the way the links look now, but is there any way you could maybe just underline them instead of bolding them, or maybe having like that... dotted line beneath them? I doubt that's possible lol. But, like I said, these are just suggestions.

But it's up to you.



By the way, I love the new font tones and whatnot. It's nice!

Well, right now, the links are a bluish-white, so I wanted to keep the font more on the gray side, lest (yet again) the links and the main font look too similar.

Actually, we could underline the links instead of bolding them, but I'm not sure about the dotted line. I just thought it should be bold since, personally, I'm not a huge fan of underlined links. I asked onenitedrive what he thought it should be just now, and he said the same thing. He's a website designer major, so I take his opinions pretty seriously when it comes to this, hehe.
