The Battle of Celebrant OOC

Alright so...I tried really, really hard to get this to the next day (the 26th of sulme/march, when the rider for eorl comes) but...it just didn't happen. I feel like I can definitely do it in my next post so...I urge you all to POST POST POST

Also I should mention that I realize (or, I feel) that the quality of the post I just put up is not as great as what I've done in the past. However, at this point in my life, I'm lucky to be writing at all and I didn't want to sit on it for three months so...I put up the bare minimum. However, if you have any suggestions, corrections, additions or what have you, please feel free to let me know. I want this story to remain great, despite my personal struggle with writing.

The post does feel a bit rushed, but I can understand. Much of my writing has been that way recently (the few things I have written). If I were you, I would just edit it again in a few days or something, and just try and add a few things here and there, or change whatever you don't like. Just let it sit for a bit. It certainly wasn't a bad post; I can just tell that it was rushed.

My only real complaint is that I can't see an elf nodding in response (the one in the loft). I would imagine it being more of... a twist of the head, like Thranduil is fond of doing in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

I did like that she was away from events for the day, and only received word of it via the blacksmith's customers. It was a good way of portraying information that would otherwise have filled a very long and dull post. Probably also why it feels rushed, but perhaps there is nothing you can really do about that.


As far as Radagast, I think that him having a cameo would be absolutely awesome. He probably doesn't need more than what you said, letting Galadriel know of their need for help. But having him in only one post would make the story that much more epic

That is a good suggestion...I wasn't sure what to do, I didn't want to drag another awkward conversation into it, but assuming they all be asleep just didn't make any sense.

I hope that we can find a way to make this radagast cameo happen.

Edit: If anyone else has ywriter, Silvone has begun compiling all of our posts and characters and such into a ywriter document, and if you would like it, when its completely updated we can email it to you.

Everything in the yWriter5 document has been updated, with the exception of detailed descriptions for each of the characters and locations. It is organized into 5 chapters, one post from each player per chapter, with an average of about 9,000 words per chapter. If you would like to have this, yWriter5 can be downloaded for free from here: yWriter5. Read up on the info it provides, or just click the downloads tab and get it. Once you have it, shoot me a PM, or just post here, and I will email it to you.

No, it isn't necessary to have this for this role-play, but I think it will help with not only the scope of the story (which is already quite big considering its Tolkien), but it will also help as a refresher for when we have breaks from writing like we've just had. As I update it, I will include more detailed character descriptions, notes for all of the references and names and titles I use in the Angrenost Guard and Gondorian Army, as well as any elvish or rohirrim words and culture, etc. It will provide a one-stop solution to any questions we have. Again, its not necessary, but I would recommend it.

Only question is, how do we both keep it updated?

Either we could continuously send you the file every time we update, or we could send a pm describing how we update. For example, what we named the new scene, what chapter it belongs to, etc.

I would love to just attach the file via the wonderful attachment option, but it won't accept yWriter's file extension, so I have to resort to emailing it instead.

@Kalon: Are you working on a post? If not I will go ahead and post again, but if you want to get the next post then I can wait. I've got plenty to keep me busy.

I will go ahead and post then. I had to read through everything again to get yWriter updated, so its all fresh in my mind. I can't make any promises on when... but I'll try to finish it within a week.

I have to rewrite the end of it. I was super tired and kind of rushed it, so pretty much everything after the battle I am going to rewrite.

Hey, sorry I haven't been around much. I've been lurking, but I haven't logged in much lately. I'm trying to get caught up on life a little today before I leave for the weekend for New Year's stuff. All I can ask is for you guys to do your best. I'm just secretly hoping that we can push for a tiny bit more activity, so that this doesn't get stuck sitting still for a couple months. If it happens, it happens and I'm just happy that no one has left. I'm trying to not let Celebrant sit on the back burner too long in my life, and I hope that Ysopet and I will inspire you all to do the same

Thank you, Blackrock! That was certainly what I was going for, so I was glad I was able to pull it off. Having never been in a battle before (obviously) I had to just guess based off of experiences I have had before. I am really glad that everyone liked it

I could totally see some of your experiences in that post, especially when he was terrified but didn't want to show it

Oh yeah, if anyone wants the titles to their scenes changed, feel free to tell me. I can always edit it. Or if you think of a better chapter name.

Awesome post, Kalon! You put in so much that I wanted to, but a lot of it just kind of slipped my mind as I was writing it... I think tomorrow I will have time to put it into yWriter, and then I will put it in the chapter list in the first post.

Yay! Glad you liked it! I did try to fill in as much as I could. And I felt bad, 'cause Araglas got Magorthaen's only kill, but now Magorthaen's all ready for it, while some of the others are conflicted, like Brand and Anglad, and I got the chance to make some diverse and contrasting reactions between Magorthaen, Anglad, and the others, so it was a most enjoyable exercise.

I honestly couldn't remember if I had Magorthaen get a kill or not... It was really late when I wrote it, and I was exhausted. However, I did have time to get it into yWriter, and I updated the Chapter list. I titled your post "At Least One." Let me know if you want a different title. And send me your email address, so I can send you the file!

Okay, I know it's waaaay overdue, but I finally posted. I had trouble getting inspired for the last little bit, but I was tired of just sitting on it. I felt a little rushed at the end, so for that I apologize. Gadreille, let me know if I need to change the ending in case it steps on anything you had planned to write. I figured Aethylwyn wouldn't mind a little food and company
