Regnum attacks.

Regnum is quite pleased at his shot. But, rejoicing comes too early. With blood dripping in his eyes, Halo makes a move and it is almost fatal for the Inklaw. The Bownyte leaves with a mouth full of fleash from the Shade's leg. Blood drips menacingly. The Inklaw attempts to recover and keep the now raging Halo at bay.

Halo's attack met with noteworthy success. His jagged teeth had sunk deep into the flesh of the inklaw. However, in his moment of desperation, lashing out at the bird in an attempt to bring it out of the sky, he had neglected his own defense.

With a force one would think impossible from a mere bird, the inklaw shook Halo off and threw him against the hard ground, sending his tattered form sliding along the rough surface until he skidded to a halt. It took a great deal of effort to lift himself back onto his feet. Blood dripped along the lengths of his thick fur and down the his muzzle from where the inklaw had torn at him moments prior. The fight was dragging on too long, and he was certainly getting the worst of it.

At least that last attack had done some real damage. Halo couldn’t put the advantageous moment to waste. Gathering his strength, he rushed toward the inklaw once more, lashing out with his right paw in an attempt to rake the bird’s side.

Xavier walks into the arena, his mind very far away from the battle that was taking place at that very moment. He pats Ezuriel on the head and the Bownyte changes at the signal. Are you sure you're ready for this, Ezu he asks his faithful companion. The Bownyte does not answer him through their shared thoughts, but merely nods a quick reply.

"Very well," he says aloud. His focus then shifts to the crowd. "Ezuriel the Bownyte Shade challenges Kiju to battle!"

Regnum attacks.

Halo's attack is futile and only nets him a paw full of feathers. Regnum easily weaves away from the Bownyte's claw. Talons aim for Halo's back. The odds seemed to be in the Inklaw's favor.

This time, Halo was ready. Having neglected his defense multiple times throughout the battle, he knew that doing so any longer would prove dangerous as the fight was undoubtedly drawing to a close. The blood seeping out along veins of ruptured flesh ensured it. No doubt the inklaw was starting to feel a little bit weary, as well, though Halo had certainly gotten the worst of things.

Knowing what would be coming, Halo ducked beneath the seeking talons. They brushed through his fur, tracing the smallest scratch along his back, as the inklaw darted overhead. This would be Halo’s time to strike. Before the raven-like shade would have time to ascend after its sweeping strike, Halo darted forward and lashed out at his opponent once again, teeth bared and hoping to turn the tides of battle.

Regnum attacks.

The Bownyte's attack's is not as successful as it should have been. Regnum manages to evade the brunt of the attack and only comes out with a minor bite wound. Regnum, using the time it takes for Halo to regain his composure, flies out of reach. The Inklaw focuses and takes a risky dive at his opponent hoping to finish him off quickly before his luck turned.

Kiju is the first to break the stare-down against Ezuriel. She charges towards the opposing bownyte in a series of bounds, taking an erratic path along the way to keep Ezuriel from predicting her movements. Kiju dug her claws into the earth with each bound, gathering metallic particles onto her paws with each instance. By the time she had entered striking distance, her paws were encased in a layer or steel that added razor sharp edges to her claws. With a powerful vault, Kiju closed the distance between her and her opponent hoping that her claws find their target.

Ezuriel's eyes dart from side to side as Kiju begins her charge. The female Bownyte was fast, maybe even too fast for him, but he'd stand against her for as long as he could. Finally, her attack was obvious, but it was too late: Her two front paws, now encased in some sort of alloy, crashed against his skull, her claws cutting deep gashes into his face and neck.

Ezuriel fell quickly, dazed by the strength of the attack and dizzy from the loss of blood. He struggled to stand for some amount of time before his muscles would listen to his mind. He growled softly through the wild panting sounds that escaped him, his eyes fixed on Kiju. Good hit, pup, he said to the other Bownyte, but you're going to have to hit me a little bit harder if you want this old dog to lay down.

He stepped forward slowly, teeth bared, and let out a fierce roar. It was hard going at first, but he set off at a steady gallop straight at Kiju, his head down as if he would ram right into her and plow her into the ground.

But the "old dog" had a trick up his sleeve: Ezuriel shot into the air near her let a heavy blast of his Shadow Fire rain down on her, hoping that he could hit Kiju where it counted.

Another attack from the air. Halo grew tired of the monotony, but there was little he could do to stop it. The inklaw was fast and deadly accurate. The swooping maneuver resulted in another gash along the bownyte’s back, blood seeping through the wound as he fought to retain his standing posture. There was little fight left in him, and unless he could manage a game-turning blow, this match was already decided.

With as much strength as he could gather for the next charge, he dashed toward the inklaw before it could swoop back into the sky. A quick lunge, followed by a sweeping claw, hoped to bat the bird from the air and send it careening toward the ground. With his vision blurring from fatigue and the heavy loss of blood, whether or not the attack hit its mark was entirely up to chance.

Regnum attacks.

Halo's attack forces Regnum out of the sky and out of his advantage. While the Inklaw doesn't come crashing to the surface, Regnum ends on the ground none-the-less. This was not good. The Bownyte clearly out sized the Shade. Regnum was enjoying the melee. That is, until now. Regnum was beginning to tire. He would need his agility and finesse if he was going to keep Halo at bay. Taking his chances, Regnum attempts to tear at the Shade's underside with his razor-sharp beak.

Kiju expected a counter attack, though was surprised that it was a sort of flame attack rather than a physical one. Despite being caught off guard, the flames were blocked by the metallic quarter-dome that she had formed to protect her from what she believed was going to be a normal charge. Clever move, old man, but let’s see if you can handle your own heat! Without another second, Kiju dove from behind the barrier, putting it between her and her attacker and forced it to shatter into hundreds of superheated shards, all of which rushed towards Ezuriel.

Halo’s attack met with moderate success. He hadn’t done as much damage as he would have hoped, but the inklaw had been drawn to the ground. This gave Halo the advantage he needed. He approached his opponent rapidly, hoping to follow-up before the other shade could regain its composure and take to the sky.

As he approached, the inklaw lashed out at his underside. Unfortunately for the bird-like shade, Halo had foreseen such a shallow retaliation. The bownyte evaded to the side with a simple jump, then pushed himself forward to launch another assault at his avian adversary. With teeth bared, he lashed at the inklaw’s side, hoping to do some damage and turn the tides of battle before it was too late.
