Happy Valentine's Days 2012, FoG! Roses In Love Give Flower heart

I hope you all have a very sweet day filled with lots of love and joy!

Anyone get anything for Valentine's Day from any sweethearts or do anything for anyone?

Axiom was kind enough to get me a bouquet of red roses, and I gave him a cute and funny ecard. My mom sent me a bunch of chocolates in the mail along with a card.

Unfortunately, I won't see my love until after 9pm because of my work schedule, so I have no idea what he got me. This morning, he woke me up before he had to go to work to give me a kiss and to tell me he loves me, so that's been getting me through the long hours. I'm excited to get home, open gifts, and spend the couple of hours together that we'll have before it's time for bed.

I had to make chocolate-covered strawberries at work for three hours. I bought some of them and brought them home to Gadreille. Rather nice day, I have to say.

Happy Valentine's Day, all! cheers

I spent most of the day watching my baby sister. (She's 6)
We did lots of Valentine's Day stuff together and had a picnic and made cards for the rest of the family. ^_^
Later everyone made a heart-shaped cake and Mom brought a bunch of little presents and heart-shaped chocolates.

I also heard some people call it Singles Awareness Day. That's an awesome alternative name! xD

Anyway, all in all, didn't get much productive stuff productived, but that's not what holidays are about in the first place. Laughing
Lots of fun, lots of love. Good times. ^_^

And oh right, it's Heart-shaped Heart Day, so I get to spam the Heart smiley!! Woo!
heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart
heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart heart

It's like a full Zelda health meter! xD
Sword beams, ftw!

Interesting that Love = Life...

And they were delicious!

I did some Valentine activities with the kids, which was nice.

I got Ysopet some LOTR cards for his collection (two new cards in four packs, yay!!!) and then we went out with my family to our favorite restaurant, Thai Taste. My son got a sucker and two stuffed animals: a puppy and a sandile (he likes pokemon...)

Along with the strawberries, I also got a bunch of candy from my mom and grandmother...I still haven't finished our halloween candy or christmas candy, haha! Anyway, all of my gifts were a surprise and my evening was wonderful.

Fayt, that sounds really sweet. It sounds like your Valentine's Day was nice.

Ysopet, aww. Sucks that you had to make those all day, but at least you had some to bring home! They sound super yummy like your love said!

Kalon, yes! That is such a perfect example of how Valentine's Day doesn't have to be about romantic love! It can easily be about familial love, too! I'm glad you and your family are so close. It sounds wonderful!

Gadreille, that's sounds delightful! I'm glad you were able to have a great time. ^^_^^

Speaking of a great time... My day started absolutely terrible, and it ended with the most romantic evening of my life. ^^_^^ ((BTW, that's the tl;dr portion...))

Terrible Beginnings:
This first part isn't so terrible, but I woke up with a kiss from my love, and he told me he loved me and hoped I'd have a good day. I told him I loved him, too, and I hoped his day went well, too, especially since it was the day that he was supposed to find out how terrible his raise and bonus would be.

It all went downhill from there. After my shower, I noticed a voicemail on my phone. It was the guy who's fixing my car. Basically, anything that can leak is leaking, the battery in the car isn't even the right size, more than one light needed fixed in the car, and there are other issues I can't even remember. It's stressful. A different battery is going to be at least $70 if I get one that's about four years old, and the prices for the leaking things are just going to go up from there.

Then, I called back Blockbuster. They'd left a message the day before about an interview, so I called them back to set it up. It was one of their group interviews, but it would have started in twenty minutes, so I couldn't go. Great!

Anyway, I was really bummed at that point, and I just sort of played on the computer until I had to leave for the trax station. When I got there, I put my money into the machine. When I had only fifty cents left to pay, it spit my money back out. I tried again with the exact same results, so I went to the other machine. It took my money, so that was a relief... until I saw the ticket it printed. It had the UTA symbols and bus picture on it, but it was otherwise blank. There were no times or anything on it. W... T... F... I started feeling a little panicky. How would I get to work? It's four minutes to the bus stop by train and sixteen minutes to work by bus. I could walk that, but I would be at least two hours late. I got on the train anyway, and hoped against hope that the bus driver would be nice.

I showed the driver the ticket, and he was thankfully one of the ones who regularly drives my route, so he just smiled and said it was okay. I was greatly relieved.

I made it to work about an hour early ((it's either an hour early or ten minutes late with the bus schedules as they are)). I noticed Joel ((my co-worker)) was helping one customer while two more were perusing phones. I won't say it didn't cross my mind to clock in early and help them, but I realized that would have been extremely unfair to Joel. If I had a car, I never would have seen them, and I didn't know if Joel had already spoken to them a little or not. I wasn't going to steal his phone sale.

I stayed in the back, reading my book. A few minutes later, he came back there and was all like, "If you'd helped those people, you wouldn't have missed a sale." That actually pissed me off since I made the choice to not take his phone sale, and he was basically criticizing me for it when he would have been resentful toward me if I had taken it. :: sighs ::

A while later, I clocked on, and I was doing some stuff in the back when I got a phone call. It was Blockbuster calling me, asking me if I wanted to do an interview on Wednesday ((today)). I told them I was only available in the morning because that didn't seem bad since that's when the interview was on Tuesday, but this one was at 6pm, so I had to decline it, too. It made me really unhappy.

Things Pick Up:
Around 3:30pm, a nice couple came into the store and looked at some Verizon phones. They asked me about the plans and things like that, and I eventually talked them into a phone sale when initially, they were just looking to peruse their options for a while. Joel came back, and he was really nice and helpful in helping me make the sale and get 100% attaches ((if we get zero accessory attaches on something, we get reamed by the district manager)) on them. His earlier irritating remark was totally forgiven in my mind. ^^_^^

Anyway, I sold a smartphone and a basic phone, and I made sure they were both set up and activated when they went out the door. Unfortunately, it took long enough that Joel had to leave for school before I could get my break, but I got two phones! I slightly believe that because I didn't steal Joel's phone sale earlier, I had better luck with the two later that day.

The rest of the shift was just boring. I did some of what needed to be done, and eventually, this guy came into the store. He must have been lonely because he stayed there for about three hours just talking to me. He was a nice kid, and his name was awesome; Xavier.

Anyway, I mentioned my boyfriend early in the conversation as I'm wont to do whenever I talk to guys who seem like they could potentially be interested in me. It's not vanity on my part, really. It's more like insurance against awkwardness later.

Turns out, I was right to do so. He hit on me a little, but it was just the superficial sort. Not the rude, obnoxious kind. My hair apparently "freaked him out" and was "blinding" him. I guess when you grow up on a Navajo reservation, there isn't much room for Scandinavian colouring.

Anyway, he asked for my number, and I asked him why he wanted it. He said he knows I have a boyfriend and that he's not trying to hook up with me or try anything. He just had a nice time talking to me, and he just moved here, so he doesn't know a lot of people, and he thought it would be nice to have someone to text sometimes. I consented, and I told Jonathan about him and what happened, and while he doesn't know what to think of Xavier, he's not jealous or upset with me. I'm never going to hang out with Xavier; of that, I'm certain. However, I will text him, and if I see him while I'm working, that can't be avoided. It's no biggy, and three hours of work were practically cut in half ((as far as feeling the time tick away goes)) because he and I chatted it up.

A Romantic Evening:
Jonathan was a couple minutes late picking me up, but he told me ahead of time that it was because he was trying to find food places that were still open so I could eat dinner. He'd already eaten, so it was just me doing the ordering. We went to Smoky Mountain Pizzeria and Grill, and I got mushroom and leek soup and herbal tea. It was tasty despite how unpleasant the soup smelled.

We had a bit of conversation while I ate. He told me about the fiasco that was his day. People were extremely unhappy about their raises and bonuses. Some people didn't get bonuses at all. He got the top range of what bonuses were given, but even then, it was still pretty low, especially when taxes were factored into it. He seemed really unhappy as we talked about it, and he said that we would discuss his raise and the future at the end of the night which automatically led me to believe that his raise was really low. I don't care so much about that, but he clearly does, so I was disappointed for him. We could get through it, though. It's wouldn't be a big deal.

As we were going back to the car, he said, "I'm going to do something. Do you trust me?" To which my response was automatically to pull up my guard, but I shoved it down and said, "Yes."

When we got home, he took away my glasses and hooked them onto his shirt. He then told me to close my eyes while he led me through the house toward the bedroom. I was then told to change into either a dress or a skirt and nice shirt, something I would wear on a date. Unfortunately, there was no time for make-up, so I at least brushed my hair and curled my lashes after I dressed in my blue corset and a long, black skirt.

When I was ready, I knocked on our bedroom door, and he asked if I was ready and told me to close my eyes again. He led me to the sitting room ((I live here, so I know what sort of distance it takes to get there)) and told me to keep my eyes closed while he did something. Suddenly, I'm told I can open my eyes, and as I do, I hear music starting to play, and I see light playing along the walls. He had set up a miniature mirror ball that reflected multi-coloured lights along the ceiling and walls. He told me that because we couldn't go out ((it was after 10pm at this point, and we both had work the next day)) that he brought out to inside.

He had a whole host of slow, romantic songs though we only danced to foive before my legs and feet were hurting too much ((I was on my feet all day prior to that, after all)) to continue. I remember "Two is Better Than One" by Boys Like Girls featuring Taylor Swift, "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri, "A Groovy Kind of Love" by Phil Collins, a song by Air Supply which I can't remember, and "Save the Best for Last" by Vanessa Williams.

It was extremely sweet, and it actually made me cry because it was so romantic and wonderful and unexpected, but I collected myself before it was done, and we talked and had a wonderful time.

Later, we opened gifts. The first gift I opened was a camera case for my point-and-shoot that he got me last Valentine's Day. I didn't have a case for it before, and it one is a perfect fit. It's both hard and soft, so it works really well. I had him open the card my grandmother gave us ((since I only got him one gift, and I had three to open)). It was really nice, and I love my grandma. I was relieved that she didn't send money this holiday, though. She usually sends us fifty dollars each, and I can't help wondering if she's breaking the bank to do it.

I opened the second package, and it contained two things: a new, smaller case for my phone since the old one pushed at my screen protector and ruined it and a hip holster. They're just like the ones for his phone, but I wanted them, and he knew it, so he gave it to me.

I had him open my gift to him next. It was Final Fantasy XIII-2 with the pre-order bonus code. He had already figured out what it was a week earlier, but he still really liked it, and I don't think he realized I was able to pre-order it ((one day before it would have been too late to do so, mind you!)). The final gift was one he said would be my favorite, and it was. He gave me Savatage's "Dead Winter Dead" CD which I have wanted since I was eighteen, but I never really had the opportunity to buy it for myself. Coincidentally, I'm started reading The Cellist of Sarajevo that morning. XD

Suddenly, he goes, "I'm craving something sweet..." and I hate how susceptible I am to the power of persuasion, but I agreed that I was, too! He went into the kitchen and surprised me with an ice cream cake in the shape of a diamond that was decorated with hearts. In the center was a plastic heart with frosting words reading "Be Mine" on it. He told me I could take it out, so I tried, and it was stuck. As soon as I couldn't get it out, I thought of King Arthur and Excalibur, and his mind must have been in the same zone because he said in a deep voice and British accent, "Whosoever has my heart shall be the ruler of England!" hahahah I got it out eventually, thankfully, because at that point, it was like the pressure was on to be the bearer of Jonathan's heart. hahahah

It was mint-chip ice-cream with chocolate cake, and it was super yummy. At that point, it was almost midnight, so we each only had a small piece. This was when he told me we could talk about his raise and our future. He sounded grim, so I was prepared to comfort him in his time of sadness until he told me that he got an amazing raise that will be applied retroactively from the beginning of the year! He had me completely fooled the whole night that he was all sad about his work since he was telling me horror stories of people being really angry and depressed about what they did or didn't get, and yeah!

All in all, it was the best night ever, and he doesn't think he'll ever be able to top it. XD
