Shoutbox mayhaps?

Afterall, we need some place where we can focus our antics and tomfoolery; this will help keep some of the extra clutter out of the other threads. The chatroom is nice, but isn't quite as convenient as the shoutbox since you have to wait for other people to sign on aswell. With the shoutbox, however, you can just leave a note/post and come back to check on it whenever more people are on. It'd be a great way to socialize more without being limited to the constraints of a particular topic. :bounce:

Haha, though I don't entirely withdraw this suggestion as it would be convenient to have something on the bottom of the main page, but it is nice to see a thread devoted entirely to the forementioned antics and tomfoolery.

How about we have BOTH the Chat Box at the bottom plus our Chat Room? I think that could make most everyone happy.

Is there anyway you and set the timeout for the chatbox to be linked to whether the member is logged onto the forums? The whole 25min time thing is no fun and it tends to take longer for somebody to wander down there than that. =/

Oh, so you're saying that if a member is logged into the Chat Box and then closes/logs out of the message board, that it'll still say they're online? I really don't have much control over the Chat Box, unfortunately. The only thing that I can do is ban people from it. I don't have the control over configuring it in any way. I suppose then in order for your name to disappear when you want to leave is to just click on the Log Out button in the Chat Box.

Not so much that as much as lengthening the amount of time inbetween timeouts. That way I can keep it going in the background and can notice if somebody gets in there.

Ohhh, I see what you're saying. So it logs you out automatically. Yeah, I could see how that would be annoying. I can't change that at all though. Sorry, Loki.

Is there another option for the shoutbox. The problem with this one is that it pretty much requires perfect timing for people to be able to communicate, which is usually left behind as people choose to browse the forums rather than wait for a response. I was thinking it would be better if we had one similar to the one at the bottom of RPGFO. That way you can post something there and come back to it after a while to see if anybody has responded. I'm sure it would get used a lot more compared to the one we are currently using.

The problem is, I don't have control over any of the coding for this message board. I can't just go in and place a shoutbox wherever it looks good. The only possible way I could do that, would be to get the HTML code for one, create a new webpage for it, and then post it in a link at the top. That doesn't seem like it's worth it for a shoutbox, especially since we already have both a chatbox and a chat room.

That's fine, I wasn't sure if it would be a quick fix or not. If it is more trouble than it's worth, then there is no need to mess with it. ^_^
