Re: What are you listening to?
I am aware it's possible. Kind of like singing about being 'edge and not being a douchebag?
'Stand Too Close"
by... why am I bothering at all at this point? Ha.
But! I love, love, love the lyrics of this song. It's pretty much how I sum up exactly how I feel about certain life events that would require way too much typing to explain right now.

Re: What are you listening to?
Indeed.
Haha. If I don't forget I'll end up pestering you about that later though, you realize this, yes?
Nocturna - Moonspell
Yeah... poetic gothic metal from Portugal.

Nocturna - Moonspell
- Spoiler:
- High heels of crystal
Stuck in the heart
Daylight that heals
The fullmoon scars
Spider strategy
And the wish to be
At one with me
Throughout the fright
It is so real
So full of light
(When) Nocturna steals the night
Sister of cain
All our breed slain
The youthful oath
Is still the same
Le mal de vivre
Thta never ends
But the hunt (for you) goes on
Throughout the night
It is so real
So full of light
(When) Nocturna steals the night
Yeah... poetic gothic metal from Portugal.

"Autographs and Apologies"
Lol. Yes, you can pester me about it later.
Is Nocturna the name of the song or is Moonspell? I'm assuming Nocturna, but hey, that's confusing stuff, and Moonspell seems like it could have been a good name for that song too, lol.

Sweet!
Nocturna was the song, yes. I doubt it will come to any surprise, but Fernando Ribeiro (the singer/lyricist) is also a published poet.

Not at all. Though he does seem to have an obsession with moon-related objects/words/etc. Haha.

Yes, he rather does. Haha. Of course those are only two songs and the band has been around for two decades, with something like nine albums I think.

Yeah, I might have the lyrics in the cd booklet but I've no idea what he is talking about here.

No idea. I saw the umlauts and thought I might know but then I realized, that's not German. Though I'm sure it is one of the Germanic languages. Finnish?

Swedish. The band is Finnish, but they sing in Swedish because it sounds more 'troll like'. They play, after all, is "Trollish Hoedown Metal". The concept was thought up by two drunken friends, go figure.

And somehow, they succeeded in this, just like every other musician who drunkenly made what should have been a terrible decision.
Ah, well, close enough. Swedish, Finnish, Dutch, German, that shit they call German that they speak in Switzerland, and a bunch more of them - well, they probably all sound pretty similar to someone who doesn't have any basis in the languages.

Re: What are you listening to?
Indeed. But, they also don't take themselves that seriously and just have fun. So that is likely why it works for them.
Hmm, I don't know about that. German and Swedish, maybe, but not Finnish. Which, actually, isn't even a Germanic language. It is more akin to the northern Slavic languages and is vastly different. Though, I guess someone with no knowledge could assume it was similiar, but it looks/sounds quite different at even a first listen/glance.
De Sängers Fluch - Equilibrium
This one is German.

Re: What are you listening to?
Ja, ich weiss, Mel. Ich sehe das. Arschloch... Es heisst "the singers curse". .. I think.
Well, yes, but if you have three words to work with and it's heavily consonant based with umlauts were are very much so assumed to be a strictly German thing to people who don't know anything about language but have for some reason seen the movie Bruno... (Imaginary umlaut, don't judge. I'm too lazy to open OpenOffice and copy and paste one.)

Re: What are you listening to?
I believe it is “The Bard’s Curse”. Pretty sure that is what their webpage showed it as when I was looking at the translations for the album.
True. But Finnish originates from… I can’t recall the actual term used for it but the languages from the northern regions of the Baltic States. Which, the languages there aren’t that much like German anymore, if they were ever once part of the Germanic languages. Finnish in general though is vastly different from the Scandinavian languages. Course, unlike most people assume, Finland wasn’t part of Scandinavia… in fact, they were among the very few people the Norse were ever afraid of. lol.

Re: What are you listening to?
Lol, yes, I know, but no one knows their history.
Bard = a singer who told stories with music... so?
I am not, for once, listening to music, but rather a comedian on my computer: Patton Oswalt. He is so freakin' funny.

"Very Busy People"

Behold these lyrics:
"Very Busy People"
by The Limousines
Behold these lyrics:
- Spoiler:
"We'll end up numb from playing video games
and we'll get sick of having sex.
And we'll get fat from eating candy
as we drink ourselves to death.
We'll stay up late
making mix tapes, photoshoping pictures of ourselves
while we masturbate to these pixelated videos
of strangers fucking themselves.
We are very busy people,
We are very busy people.
There's crusty socks
and stacks of pizza boxes
making trails straight to the bed.
And when we're done sleeping
we'll stay busy dreaming of the things
we do not have yet.
Well there's a long, long list of chores
and shit to do before we play,
oh let's just piss away the day.
Crank call the cops down at the station,
just for friendly conversation,
requesting songs they never play;
Let's hear the one that goes like:
We are very busy people,
We are very busy people;
But we've always got time for new friends.
So come on over and knock on our door,
it's open whatcha waitin' for?
We may be sprawled out on the floor,
but we still make lovely company.
Pull up a chair, I'll pour some tea,
We'll shoot the shit, 'bout everything,
till you get sick of politics,
and flip on the TV screen,
we stare at the TV screen.
That Donnie Darko DVD has been repeating for a week,
and we know every single word.
(Every single word).
I've got an iPod like a pirate ship,
I'll sail the sea
with fifty thousand songs I've never heard-
And all the best of them go
La la la la la la...
la la la la la la...
La la la la la la...
la la la la la la...
We are very busy people,
We are very busy people;
But we've always got time for new friends.
(Yeah).
La la la la la la...
la la la la la la...
La la la la la la...
la la la la la la... "
