The Dissent in Section 5 Empty The Dissent in Section 5

Post by Guest Thu Jun 03, 2010 10:07 pm

Official OOC thread

Official IC thread

In the not too distant future, there is a secret government base doing experiments on people. This sort of experimentation has been going on for years and the original goals have become twisted and corrupt in light of a recent war that has practically destroyed the order that once ran these facilities. Now, old, insane doctors continue to abduct people and torture them for the sake of an old and dead science, keeping them in endless miles of cells and controlling various aspects of their lives.

****************

This plot-line will centralize on the occupants of section 5 in the base. You will all wake up in the cell which is large enough to hold several people(how many join), with all the necessities to live(a small toilet and a bed for each person). At different intervals of the day they are fed together in their room and at least once every other day they are taken as a group to unisex showers by a troop of guards. There is little to no contact with people locked away in the neighboring sections, except you can sometimes hear them through the walls. Occasionally, without warning or seemingly without purpose, the occupants of different sections will be "punished" by being deprived of food, although no clear rules are set. Sometimes, a voice through a speaker will admonish the occupants in section 5 for "misbehaving" in some way, but at other times there seems to be contradictory examples of the authorities not actually watching them. And everything changes when after several days after first waking up in this place, the occupants of section 5 find a hole leading to section 6 and the people in that room are going on their 5th day of not being fed for an unknown crime.

**************************

Opening post:

White defined the room, the pristine walls seeming to glow beneath the silent hum of the fluorescent lights, lodged behind sealed grates in the ceiling. Nondescript beds lined the floor, not made for comfort and barely more than cots, squeaking with each movement made on their spring mattresses. The blankets upon them were starchy, thin cotton, itchy and offering minimal warmth, the floor painted concrete and cold to the touch. Air moved through the room a silent presence flowing to the vents hidden in the far corners of the small space, making soft whispers and wheezes as if the walls were breathing. Menace hung in this place, and sound and light acted strangely. Distantly there could be heard the sounds of anonymous footsteps echoing in the hallway beyond the sole doorway in one end of the room, direction and distance distorted by the muffled echoes. Faded sounds of voices could be heard through the walls hinting at conversations half-heard and nightmarish wails starting suddenly and drifting back into silence.

There was a loneliness to the whitewashed walls, and solitary beds lined neatly together, filling the space with just enough walking room between the rows. Two cameras in opposite corners grumbled lowly as they zoomed in and out of focus, turning their heads occasionally to follow the movement of the occupants, speakers attached at their sides, crackling randomly. Time seemed to not exist in this place, the test subjects sitting together for what felt like hours and still no one came. Memories of another time and place existed, of a world and life outside of this one, seemingly far-away and dreamlike to remember. Were they dead? Hunger rumbling in their bellies occasionally and a registered feeling of pain and fatigue offered the answers. No, not dead. But possibly not far behind it.

There was one toilet that they shared, privacy practically nonexistent, and when the food came it was through a locked slot in the door, shoved through by a faceless hand on a small suspended tray. Cries and calls for help and pleas for answers were ignored as the silent sentinel's heavy bootfalls faded away apathetically. But they were not left in the dark for too long and understanding came for each of them, when the scientists arrived, taking them as a group...to the labs. The experiments began and confusion was lifted upon this nightmare that they shared together.

Open to all, submit a character sheet if you'd like to join. I would like at least 3-4 people to join before we begin the actual role-play and to limit it to five people as occupants of Section 5 but other people can play roles like scientists or occupants of Section 6(they will show up a bit later though). And people can play multiple characters if you want(like a person could play someone in Section 5 and a scientist/occupant of Section 6. I will be playing some of the scientists, one of the occupants in section 6 and possibly one of the occupants in Section 5 if we don't get enough players.

Character Sheets

Gender:
Bio:

Map of Section 5

There is a small informational computer against the bottom left hand side that offers them simplified advertisements of the world outside and propaganda against the country they are at war with but no actual news coverage or pertinent information. This is where they can also keep personal logs of things going on between them, but it is unknown if anyone actually watched the logs or not.
There are also cameras in the ceiling in the bottom left corner and in the top right corner. They can be heard moving but cannot be touched, reached or seen behind a black glass shield.
A toilet and sink are in the right bottom corner and there is a small arm-sized hole behind the second bed on the right side of the room leading to Section 6.
All the rooms pretty much look like this one and there are countless others in this facility.

this is a great idea! I would love to play here. I woud like to make a soldier that is trying to find his missing best friend and trying to recall where he last was and why he has woken up in Area Five.

Name: Leon Ashford
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Bio: Leon was seving his second tour of duty in the Army 82nd Airborne with his life long best friend Chris. His memories are very vague and filled mostly with images of death and intense urban combat. For the most part he is in pain and his head feels as though it has been filled with cotton. His main concerns are attempting to figure out why he is a prisoner in Area Five, the location of his friend, and of course escape once he knows the whereabuts of Chris.

Name: Christopher Callahan
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Appearance: A large and powerfully built brunette with a deep tan and intense green eyes. His military training is obvious by the way he carries himself.
Bio: Like his bestfriend, his last memories before waking up in a cell in area 5 are of explosions and gunfire. When he wakes up in his small cot he seeks his best friend in desperation: is he still alive? Who are the oothers around him and will they help him escape? Can they even be trusted? What if they are plants by the people running the facility?

*blush* Thank you, Byron. You have remarkable skills with the written word as well.

Name: Dr. Andrea Leland
Age: 28
Gender: female
Appearance: Slender features with high cheekbones and hair always pulled back in a severe bun, her lips in the shape of a bow, and usually colored with dark lipstick. High, arching eyebrows and almond shaped light green eyes, with a minimal amount of makeup around them. And she's slim with pert breasts, her curves both accentuated by her pencil skirt and tucked in blouses but also hidden by a long lab coat. She would be pretty except there is something cold and unyielding about her, every smile and every glare filled with a threat and encroaching madness.

Bio: After war hit, everything dissolved into chaos and the base lost contact with government authority. Having already stolen many people and perpetuated years of experiments, Dr. Leland and the other scientists were unwilling to give up the research they'd dedicated their whole lives to, pressing on despite the loss of a clear or sane goal at the end of the tunnel. Dr. Leland herself has sadistic tendencies and has emotional and mental disorders that distort her comprehension of reality. At times, she seems like a soothing mother caring for the people in Section 5 as if they were her flesh and blood showing both pride in their success and concern when they are hurt. Other times, she seems like a mad mother, berating them severely for being "bad" and punishing them for crimes she perceives they've committed.

Alright, since we have half the people that I expect before we play then I made the official OOC thread:

Official OOC thread

Just a few more players and we can start! *excited* If it's not too much trouble, could I have you two resubmit your character profiles to that thread just so we have them all in one place when we get any new players?

I'll add another character so we can get to playing. Others are still welcome to join. Just submit a character sheet.

Name: Summer Durham
Age: 22
Gender: Female
Appearance: Long, wavy blonde hair that goes down to the middle of her back, pale yet creamy skin and blue eyes and tall with a healthy, curvy build.
Bio: Staying in a communal shelter in her small town with her family, she and a few others ventured out to search for supplies and help as some of the last survivors began to grow ill from disease. The last thing Summer remembers before waking up in Section 5 is searching through the rubble of an old pharmacy and being pursued by someone driving a military issued vehicle.

I also made the IC thread, so those who have already joined, feel free to post anytime!

Official IC thread

I've also edited the opening post so that it's less god-mode-ish and introduces Dr. Leland.
