Black Moon, Red Sun

Icy winds blew through the forbidding black mountains of Icecrown. After a miserable week long blizzard, several troops shifted alongside the brazier, breaths misting out in the air. They grumbled to each other before looking up at the giant black metal wall that defined their existence for the last few months. It loomed ominously over their growing camp at the foot of the Lich King’s citadel. Between blowing on their hands and talking softly, the valiants shifted their weapons in sheathes to prevent sticking. The view began to change, as the camp rotated towards the center camp. Alliance and Horde leaders squabbled with each other, while several frustrated and prominent Argent Crusade leaders looked in annoyance. Darion Mograine lounged with an amused sneer as he tossed the occasional hard look at Tirion Fordring’s tight face…

An eerie, rasp echoed from beneath a dark helm, as blazing blue eyes turned to survey his commanders and approved of the aggression, hatred, and death oozing from every single one.

“They have overextended themselves. Destroy them.”

The assembled ranks knelt or bowed deeply for their dread lord. The clanging of fists to breastplates competed with insect rustling and hissing. Fiery rage warred with cold loathing amongst the assembled personages. They glared at each other, or in one strange case, oppressively silent. The groups would have happily killed each other under any other circumstances for their lord’s favor.

“Go.”

Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW} Empty Re: Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW}

Post by Deadman - D17 Thu Dec 31, 2009 11:27 am

Name : Diervaa
Race : Draenei
Age : ~early/mid 20s in human years (Will update this when I can find what that is close to in Draenei)
Gender : Female
Class : 'Weapon's master' (Arms warrior)

Background Information : (Brief History and current status) Growing up on Draenor, Diervaa was too young to take part in the fight against the orcs, or later, when the Blood Elves attacked the Exodar, 'coming of age' only after the Exodar crashed into Azeroth, and her people began struggling to carve out a life on the Azuremist and Bloodmist isles.
Her memories of those events, however, and the tales she heard from her elders, inspired an anger and lust for revenge that caused her to quickly rise as an impressive novice fighter. Sword, axe, dagger, mace, polearm weapons, if it could cut or bludgeon or be used as a weapon, Diervaa learned how to use it. Wary of the tenets of the Light that her kin follow, she began to develop a set of ideals of her own, forming into a strict code of honor. She felt that her people had been too complacent and forgiving in the past, a mistake she was not going to repeat. Fighting became her religion, and as her faith in the light wavered, her faith in her strength and weapons grew only stronger.
Since then, she's set out, fighting alongside the soldiers of the Alliance against all their enemies. She still harbors a deep hatred for Orcs and Blood Elves, but for now her attentions have shifted to the scourge, as she follows the battles into Northrend.

Personality : For Diervaa, honor and battle are her bread and water, worshipped even above the light. Quick to take offense, and never forgetting those inflicted on her or her race, she would rather die than be embarrassed or dishonored, and can be quick to respond with violence if threatened or insulted, seeing it as a challenge. Battle is also a challenge to her -to seek out a duel the strongest opponents she can- and one she takes on eagerly. She is happiest in the thick of battle, her somewhat curt personality and strict visage replaced by almost joyous battle cries and laughter.

However, she is still very young for her race, and her budding ideals of honor and combat are somewhat exaggerated by a hotheaded temper, and still-fresh memories of what her people suffered through on Draeneor, and of the crash of the Exodar.

Description : (Person, Gear, etc.) (Will a picture do? It's mostly accurate Smile )
Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW} Diervaa

Miscellaneous : (Mounts, Quirks, Ticks, etc. whatever you think needs filling out.) Diervaa rides an armored Elekk, Oldheron. Also, partially due to her age, and partially because of her code of honor, Diervaa DOES NOT get humor. At all. Sarcasm? Ha, good luck. Even the most obvious joke is likely to elicit a direct response, or set her to pondering for a while, wondering what exactly you mean.
(Any other 'quirks' or such things will make themselves apparent in time, she is still somewhat of a 'new' character)

Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW} Empty Re: Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW}

Post by Kyna Thu Dec 31, 2009 12:53 pm

Full Name: Bodododoro

Nicknames: Bodo

Age: Unknown

Race: Troll

Class: Shaman

Talent: Restoration

Gender: Male

Appearance: Blue skin with bright orange braided mane. Tall and slouching like most troll men. Green painted nose and very long tusks. Generally clothed in robes of blue and purple and bedecked in jewelry. His chain mail shirt is hidden by a plain worn tabard, the remnant of an old guild association.

Place of residence: Bodo has come to view Shadowprey Village in Desolace as a home away from home, though he keeps his hearthstone set to Dalaran for practicality.

Place of Birth: Darkspear Island

Religion/Philosophy: Worships the elements primarily, and makes occasional reference to the Old Gods but without any real conviction.

Occupation/ Hobbies: Bodododoro is a gatherer. He spends most of his time collecting minerals and skinning his kills which he then uses for trade. When out in the wilderness, he tends to live a hand-to-mouth existence.

Personality: Bodododoro is mad, but well-intentioned. He’s very gifted as a healer, but is prone to sudden and very random outbursts. He’s obsessive about finding minerals, to the point of challenging all rivals, regardless of faction, when a vein is found. Once mined, however, Bodo is quite willing to share his bounty with those he feels deserve it. He’s loath to see anything wasted and will stop and skin any carcass that crosses his path. Sometimes that gets him in to trouble, particularly with hunters that come back to retrieve their kills.

Bodo is generous with his aid, often lending a helping hand to even Alliance races, barring Night Elves. Like most Trolls, Bodododoro has a deep-seeded race hatred of the Night Elves. Additionally, Bododoro has no love for the Death Knights that have recently merged forces with the Horde. He does his best to avoid all Undead, but maintains a civil relationship with the Forsaken when the need arises. On the top of his list of foes, however, are all things insectoid, from the Silithid and Qiraji of Southern Kalimdor to the Nerubians of Northrend.

Bodododoro is for the most part a loner. He hides off in the wilderness, seeking his treasures, but he is not completely antisocial. He will always answer the call for aid from his fellow Horde members.

History: Bodododoro, then known simply as Dodoro, was among the Darkspears that followed Vol’jin after the Third War. Dodoro was later unfortunately hexed by the Witch Doctor Zalazane. He would have remained a near-mindless servant had he not been rescued by a small Troll war band that had raided the Echo Islands. Though he escaped and was healed by the shamans of Sen’jin Village, Zalazane’s voodoo would forever leave a dark stain on his mind. Grateful to his rescuers, Dodoro took up the path of the shaman, following the voice of the elements wherever they lead him.

It was in the Barrens that he met a female Troll Warrior named Kachasse. She was everything that he could have dreamed of in a mate. He redoubled his efforts at skinning and mining to woo her with tangible goods. Kachasse was particularly fond of metals, which she used to forge her own armor. Together they quested and it was during an attempt to stem the emergence of Silithid in the Southern Barrens that Kachasse fell in battle. Grief-stricken, Dodoro vowed vengeance against the insectoids. Feeling guilty that he should have been able to do more to heal his mortally wounded mate, he began to focus on the path of restoration, becoming an accomplished shaman healer.

For the years following her death, Dodoro wandered Azeroth, and later Outlands, mostly alone. He began to lose touch with reality, succumbing to the madness that had begun with Zalazane’s voodoo hex. He often mutters to himself in his own unintelligible language saying “bodo Dodoro,” so much so that everyone he meets takes that to be his full name. Most simply refer to him as Bodo, to which he readily responds.

These days he spends most of his time mining in Sholazar Basin or fishing in Desolace, one of his favorite retreats. Those that choose to call him friend generally know where to find him.

Misc: Bodo rides a male bronze drake named Eliazoru (Zoru for short). On the ground he'd ride his black warbear, Koja.

Dranei age equivalents are debatable. Real lore sources are vague and conflicting. Rise of the Horde implicates a very slow maturation cycle, with a child remaining so for twenty years. However, their are lore implications that there are dranei children that have grown up during the last twenty to forty years as implicated by Nobundo's story and the introduction with the crash site. Stating the equivalent or simply what cultural/biological maturation was the consensus as standard the last time I argued about this on the WoW Lore Forum.

Both accepted with two tiny little details I forgot to put in.

Bodododoro's faction is with the Horde. As for starting location... well that kind of depends. Are we starting as a prearranged assembly before the Lich King's Citadel or making our way to a central location from wherever we wish?

I'm inclined to say Bodo's starting location is Sholazar Basin down in the Rainspeaker Canopy, which is relatively a hop-skip-and-jump from Ice Crown.

Starting location is up to you, but the entire thing is going to be a relatively short time span. It is going to be over three days to a week for this first part, so being there is good idea. Not necessary, but travel time is still going to be a while. I am thinking it will take about a day for flying across Icecrown is somewhat realistic.

Faction Status: Alliance (Better standing with the Humans/dwarves than her own kin, however)

Starting Location: Skybreaker, over Icecrown.

Yeah, I've had trouble looking up ages for Draenei, and for elves as well. For such long-lived races like them, I just usually write the human equivalent of their age/maturity. I have known some who wanted actual ages before, though, so I wasn't sure what you would prefer or accept :

(I tend to believe draenei are immortal or extremely long lived. I got one draenei who remembers Draenor and is about 26,000 years old... and I'm not the only one, either. I've met at least one other player who has said so and plays one (as well as the quest giver in Bloodmyst, the fungus-obsessed one), but as to maturing... that would be debatable indeed.)

Name : Sunny Grimsmile

Race : Gnome

Age : 98

Gender : Female

Class : Death Knight

Background Information : Sunny Grimsmile was once known in life as Sunny Sprinklesmile, she was known to be the cheeriest, most upbeat gnome to ever grace the halls of Gnomeregan. Self-sacrificing and generous to a fault, Sunny gave new glow and hope to whoever crossed paths with her, even those that held ill will toward her. She was part of Gnomeregan's police guard and, eventually, became a paladin. She joined the Argent Dawn soon after it formed and served them until the fateful battle that claimed so many of them, herself included. Sunny was taken to Acherus and raised a death knight.

Finally broken by the dark reality of her situation, Sunny found that she had lost all emotion, all her hope, her cheeriness, everything. Her dismay was met with faux horror and she resolved to regain her former self. Try as she might, however, no matter how many times she attempted to smile and give comfort, it was unavoidable for people to see it was a forced and false effort, leaving her face to fall flat and lifeless once again. Left without the ability to raise the spirits of her allies by trying to smile, Sunny instead turned to crushing those of her foes with deadly success. Even so, deep down beneath the emotionless visage, Sunny mourns and yearns to love and feel again, continuing her efforts to smile and bring joy even in failure, but always with a great deal of superficial spite and resentment. The only smile that is genuine is that which crosses her face when her foe falls before her, full of sick satisfaction.

Personality : Sunny is the opposite in life to that which she was in death. Humorless, apathetic, and completely sociopathic, Sunny's sole redeeming quality in terms of morals is that she tries to uphold them even when she does not care for them. Often if she finds someone a nuisance, she will not go out of her way to help them and will sometimes even leave them to die if they become burdensome. She does, however, try to help so as to find purpose in her un-life. Sunny understands humor and sarcasm, however, and will often counter it with a bland and brutal counter-statement just to watch the speaker squirm in discomfort. Sunny smiles to those she "likes", but said smile, as mentioned before, is generally discomforting and nerve-wracking. She is monstrous in her honesty, merciless in her method, and nothing if loyal to the cause of the Ebon Blade.

Description : Sunny's white hair has lost nothing except the luster of life. She wears it short and cropped near her ears. Her face has a single stitching from her crown down the center of her face to the bottom of her chin where the killing blow was put back together. Her face is round and puffy like a pillow, but these tender features only make her doll-like expressions all the creepier. She is an average 3'4''. She wears the standard black saronite plates of a death knight but no helm, instead leaving her face to show open for all to see, and carries a small runeaxe. Sunny mainly focuses on the talents of ice and cold as a death knight, which reflect her callous and unapproachable nature in undeath.

Miscellaneous : Sunny has one particular quirk: she will never frown, even in undeath. Her face is as unreadable as that of a poker player, even when smiling. She dislikes colorful objects to the point of refusing to use or even touch anything that is too bright short of absolute necessity. In life, she tended to call those that she found upsetting "kiddie" or "naughty"; in undeath, she calls them "it", "thing", or, most ominously, "meat" (or some variant of that word).

Starting Location : The Shadow Vault

Faction Status : Works under the Ebon Blade and Argent Crusade. She has no more allegiances to the Alliance, does not care for the Horde, and overall just wants the Scourge dead.

Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW} Empty Re: Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW}

Post by Igraine Sat Jan 02, 2010 5:51 pm

Name : Mennalista Stone
Race : Human
Age : 19
Gender : Female
Class : Warlock

Background Information : (Brief History and current status) ‘Lista’s father Jacob was one of the masons exiled after Stormwind was rebuilt after the Second War. Like many of his brethren, he joined the Defias and essentially abandoned his family when his wife, Trish, refused to join him in a life on the run with their children, Mennalista and her little brother Jason.

Trish tried to raise her children on her own in Old Town, taking odd jobs laundering, mending clothing or tailoring as she could, along with ‘Lista. Unfortunately, Trish died within two years, leaving a 14-year old ‘Lista to try to raise Jason. He was, however, taken from her and placed in the Stormwind Orphanage, where he remains to this day. ‘Lista – generally distrustful of authority (and Stormwind authorities in particular) refused to stay there. She ran away repeatedly, and generally lived on the streets of Old Town any way she could: thieving, hustling, smuggling, or anything that would pay enough to buy bread and the occasional roof over her head.

That is, until she met the charismatic Averil Magden, who opened her eyes to a whole new world – one where she need never be powerless, hungry or spit upon ever again. The story between these two is a bit too long to go into – suffice it to say, he mentored her closely until quite recently.

Personality : When engaged, ‘Lista is irreverent and usually snide, and has little “automatic” respect for authority in any form until she believes it is earned. She does not make friends easily, but those few she has become as dear as family to her. She cares little for society’s “norms,” and shows absolutely no deference to what most “polite company” think of demons, or warlocks, thieves, assassins or other “low life” in general.

Description : (Person, Gear, etc.) ‘Lista has short-cropped blonde hair with pale green eyes that are far older than her true years, a lovely young woman usually wearing a wicked, knowing grin beneath her cowl. Often wrapped in violet and gray robes, she stays mainly in the shadows of any room/situation until she absolutely must. Beneath her dark gray cloak, 'Lista has a dagger sheathed at her side, and various strange pouches as well.

Miscellaneous : (Mounts, Quirks, Ticks, etc. whatever you think needs filling out.) Her demon minions are almost family/friends to her. And despite the strange looks – or even derision – other people might show her in public, she can often be seen conversing with her imp, walking in the company of the void, or even laughing over some private joke between her and her succubus. She can summon a fel steed, of course, but prefers to ride the pinto Milo - a gift from Averil.

Starting Location : (preferably in Icecrown) Argent Tournament – she is there because one “old” friend of hers has contacted her – a half-elven warrior named Elsbeth Riverson.

Faction Status : (as in which one you want to be grouped under. Not limited to those currently stated.) Alliance (though she is hardly the most conventionally loyal subject to the King), and tentatively Argent Crusade.

Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW} Empty Re: Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW}

Post by Igraine Sun Jan 03, 2010 1:42 pm

Name : Valtherin (once known as Valdenthen Sunguard)
Race : sin’dorei
Age : 345
Gender : Male
Class : Death knight (previously a priest, and before that, a warrior)

Background Information : (Brief History and current status) I won’t give the whole three centuries plus of Val’s life story – that might be a bit much... XD Before he met his wife Arindel, he was a rather rough warrior who was subsequently “taken in hand” by the gentle, Light-following lady some seven decades ago. He became a priest of the Light himself and - eschewing his former ways through all three recent major wars - was a battlefield healer.

Arin was killed in the razing of Silvermoon by Arthas, devestating Val who blamed himself for his inability to save her. After her death, he became disillusioned with a great many things, including the path Liadrin chose [so very unwisely, in his opinion], and the degradation of the quel’dorei (now mainly sin’dorei) peoples. He took to wandering Azeroth, exploring by himself places he’d always promised Arin they would go together. But when the diseased grain shipments arrived for the “second round” with the Lich King, Val found himself in Orgrimmar. Here he died, and was taken and raised a death knight.

Val’s story as a dedicated Scourge was hard, vicious and bloody. He retained no memory of his former life until after he was freed at the battle of Light’s Hope. There, rather mercilessly, all his memories were afforded him again. Were it not for the purpose afforded to him again by his brethren of the Ebon Blade, he likely would have killed himself for the shame and horror of both what he had done as Scourge, and what he had become.

Without drawing out this story too long (some of which would be better written up in story form/RPing) Val is still a devotee of the Light, even though It has apparently forsaken him (to all outside appearances – he still finds comfort in his prayers and devotions). He is loyal to a fault to his freed death knight brethren of the Ebon Blade – no matter their race – and accords Tirion Fordring and his Crusade no small amount of deference and respect.

Personality : Val is soft-spoken and thoughtful, quick to listen and slow to speak. There is a great deal going on beneath the normally placid surface of the elf that he will rarely – if ever – share beyond a very few trusted individuals. And though his demeanor is often [strangely] gentle and gentlemanly, he is both brutal and merciless in battle.

Description : (Person, Gear, etc.) Val stands about six feet tall, with pale white skin and long light blonde hair he usually wears pulled back in a utilitarian pony tail. Necrotic blue eyes have replaced the fel green of the sin’dorei, his face seemingly chiseled from ivory. Most of his body is covered in cold, steel gray plate armor, and he brandishes a huge, wickedly bladed battle axe. Still, should one look close enough, the top portion of the scar that marks his death blow can be seen snaking up his neck and toward his jawline, from his chest.

Miscellaneous : (Mounts, Quirks, Ticks, etc. whatever you think needs filling out.) Val has a dear friend, a red drake named Laeriastrasza, who allows him to ride. He is also re-learning the arts of herbalism (Arin’s specialty when she lived) and growing things, having actually spent the time to hatch and care for a venomhide raptor he named Tori. Though he is dead, Val finds his greatest pleasure in the things that remind him of life.

eta: Val changed his name and dropped his family name, only going by Valtherin now, after he was freed from the Lich King's sway. He did so because he does have one member of his family left alive - a ranger sister named Soalise. He has not contacted her, and does not want to shame her with the knowledge of what he has become. Still, he watches over her from a distance as best he can, and provides where he is able.

Starting Location : (preferably in Icecrown) Shadow Vault

Faction Status : (as in which one you want to be grouped under. Not limited to those currently stated.) Horde (through race relations only) and the Knights of the Ebon Blade. He also considers himself a close friend of the Wyrmrest Accord, and the Red flight in particular.

Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW} Empty Re: Black Moon, Red Sun {WoW}

Post by Deadman - D17 Thu Jan 21, 2010 5:36 pm

Name: Sudaj D'Greel
Race: Forsaken
Age: 34 (At time of death.) ~37-40 (Including 'life' as undead)
Gender: Male
Class: Defender/Prot Warrior

Background Information: (Brief History and current status) Sudaj's early life is marked by betrayal... his own betrayal. Marrying the girl his best friend was in love with, and enlisting in the Loarderon Army, Sudaj abandoned both his post and his people after his son was born, seeking out the Cult of the Damned and joining their dark crusade.
He willingly submitted himself to the Cult's plague, rising as a willing undead soldier. Returning to slay those people he once swore to protect, Sudaj served as a member of the Scourge until Sylvanas began her rebellion. Taking the opportunity to betray the Lich king, he turned on his fellow undead and assisted the Dark lady in the taking of the Undercity, finally bringing him back home.
He served Lady Sylvanas loyally enough for some time, until Varimarthas' rebellion, when he then betrayed his 'people' and helped the Dreadlord and Putress' Apothecaries to drive out all those who would not accept their rule.
This time, however, something changed. In the brief lull between Varimartha's coup and the battle for the Undercity, Sudaj realized finally what he felt his purpose was. And so, when Thrall and Sylvanas led the assault to retake the forsaken capital, he turned on his fellow traitors, joining those who fought by the two horde leaders, even though it cost him his right arm.
After the battle had ended, Sudaj pledged himself to the service of the Banshee Queen, offering himself to be her tool wherever it may be needed, to ensure the safety of the Forsaken. His pledge of fealty was accepted, but he was forced to fight without the use of his right arm, and sent under watch to Northrend to atone for his earlier actions.
Now, he fights with the Hand of Vengeance, using his shield both as a deadly offensive weapon, and a protective barrier for the defense of his comrades. Not much is known about him now, only reports that he continues to serve the Dark Lady across Northrend, making good on the oath he swore at the retaking of the Undercity.

Personality: You could consider Sudaj something of a reformed nihilist, but still retaining many of the same traits he had before. Seemingly jaded by all he has done and been through, Sudaj has a bleak, pessimistic outlook on life, and feels that actions do not matter much at all, since in the end we will become nothing but dust.
His attitude has begun to change somewhat, however. While he rarely seems to convey much emotion at all, speaking in a dull monotone -when he actually does speak- in battle, he fights to defend his comrades with a startling fervor, and seems to display a sense of loyalty that runs completely contrary to the actions of his past.

Description: Sudaj stands about six feet tall, though a slightly hunched back makes him appear some inches shorter, and is decked neck-to-toe in worn, rusted platemail. What may have been a fearsome set of armor now seems to reflect his decrepit state as a Forsaken. His head remains uncovered at all times, bald except for a medium-length ponytail (more moss than hair, really) and covered in smooth, grey skin. His shield, when not in use, is slung across his back. The only piece of his gear that could be said to be in good condition, it was forged to resemble two giant axe-heads, their edges kept sharp, and often bloodstains can still be seen on them.
His right arm ends abruptly where his elbow should be. The visible bone is black and twisted, unlike the ivory specimens that can be seen poking though gaps in his armor, and seems almost as if it was plagued, or even cursed.

Miscellaneous: (Mounts, Quirks, Ticks, etc. Whatever you think needs filling out.) Sudaj is not a talkative Forsaken... at all. Questions will usually be met with one-word replies, or sometimes not at all. He has a bit of a gift for understatement, and while he does seem to have a sense of humor, his few attempts at jokes are usually ruined by a monotone presentation, and otherwise could be considered quite dark.
He rides a Forsaken Warhorse, that he has left unnamed, as well as a Windrider, which he does not seem to remember the name of.

Faction and Starting Location: Horde(mostly the Frosaken/Hand of Vengeance) Sudaj will be at the Argent Tournament to begin, as recent events have led to.. unexpected results.

Is this still happening? If so, I definitely want in, just wanna make sure it is actually happening before I create a character sheet.

I'm pulling out, guys. I just don't have the patience to wait on Kalaam. Personally, I hope whatever trouble he's going through gets resolved and gets resolved well, but on a practical note, I don't want to enter an RP where the OP will disappear for longer than he claims and then end up with a dead story. After all, I am the kind of person who simply detests not being able to finish what he starts. If by any chance he returns and gets thsi moving, I wish those of you that stay a good time, assuming that I am hopefully wrong.
