I realize I have picked a rather morbid choice of quotes, but they, to me, are beautiful ways of describing death, a thing we are all afraid of and criminalize when death in itself can be a lovely thing.

That is not to say, however, that I am looking forward to dying anytime soon, but quotes do make me feel slightly better about it.

There's no rule that says the quotes have to be humorous.

No specific rule, no, but it's a good thing to remember that if you post a funny quote, people will be laughing with you, whereas if you post a serious quote, people will be laughing at you.
