Miss when this place was more active...

I remember when at least 3 to ten people were online at a time here. I know school will be starting up for some people but is there a way we can signal boost this place? What is it about the other roleplay forums that this one lacks? I wish there was more ppl here.

Many users lost interest after the administration stopped paying for domain name and ad free services. As the owner did not leave us with the rights to these services, we couldn't continue paying them if we wanted to. Frankly I wouldn't have anyway, as activity was at a crawl long before that.

I do miss it too.

I definitely miss this place! I have been trying to find a place to write/role play on. I have found nothing. Does anyone know of a place I (or we if people would want to join me) could go?

I know a bunch of people from FOG created Role Play Hell. Not sure how it is doing. I also remember Digital Muse mentioning ZEJ or something like that. I tried a couple places but didn't stick with anything. Good luck on your search!

This site is pretty active.

I quit roleplayin due to life stuff. Came back here a couple years ago and saw it mostly barren. Got back to roleplaying about 6 months ago, and went with my nerd/geek influence and have been roleplaying on a Star Wars RPG forum.

Its not as free-for as it is here, but it's active, and the people are great.

I peek in now and again, but am always saddened, and just go through old roleplays- snickering about how much i've changed since then, and remembering the great conversations, and writings we all collaborated on.

I know it's really hard. This place was a haven for so many of us, and I miss this place, too. It got harder when the original admin left because her free time was so limited. We tried to hold down the fort, but like Gadreille said, once we lost the right to the domain name, we couldn't keep up any more.

The place I tried out for a while was Iwaku Roleplay, and while I liked it all right, nothing will ever give me the same feelings FoG gave me in it's heyday.

THat site doesn't look bad.... I've signed up and am strolling around the threads now...

But yeah... Maybe if we all are still kind of poking around here, maybe we can start bandaiding it? Or relocate?

This site is always available for role play. The members decided that with the domain name gone it was time to move on. Its still a fully functional site for role play, if not quite as pretty as it once was.

I tried relocating and it wasn't for me. I still keep FOG clean of spam and check in for any wandering roleplayer ghosts.

If anyone who has noticed and responded to this thread would like to get an RP of any kind going I would be happy to help create/run/play/whatever. I have a few ideas that I am trying to flesh out in my head but nothing that is concrete. And let's face it, I don't have the best track record when it comes to starting and finishing role plays I create. Anyway, if you would want let me know. E-mail or PM on here. I will check back regularly.

You could always make a general interest check thread with your ideas. Worst case scenario no one responds

There is enough people posting in this thread to start something. I always found it easier to start slow with short posts just to keep it going and not getting stuck in a creative rut.

I started a few rp's elsewhere but I am the last person to post...just like all my texts messages on my phone. Heh.

I am currently working on something for this site. Its starting at as something more...Supernatural/Horror-esque but is slowly transforming into something else. Hopefully we can get at least a few of us who post in this thread involved.

I posted something in the Casual Interest Check. I started working on a "world" that would could create a story in but I would like to get some input from anyone who would like to join. The ideas I have are more based in the genre's of the horror/supernatural/post-apocalyptic things. Anyway, post if you would like and we can try to get something created.

I actually came here to log into my old account from years ago from roleplaygateway to check to see if it was more active - because it's pretty impossible to get anything started over there after that shutdown they had. Turns out this place is a bit barren too :c. I am officially on a quest to find an active site!

I've hopped on to Iwakurolepaly.com and it seems pretty diverse and active so far... Still trolling FOG, though, too. xD

I just happened to log on today to do a rework of an RP I did here. I suppose I could just do it here if there is some interest. As far as saving the site goes anything is possible. In order for that to happen (at least in my opinion) the admins would have to archive all the old topics + first all the broken links, send an email to all the old members trying to get a precious few to be active on the site again, and go on a online recruiting mission to get some new members to the site. Basically advertise the site as practically a new site while trying to get old members back. In theory it could work, but we would need a dedicated admin staff.

Edit: I would totally help out if the is a chance to bring this place back! Just had to add that.

I feel a lot of the old members feel the same way as I do. In fact the way people keep coming back and posting saying they wish it wasn't dead really shows that this site was something special. Most sites like this die and don't have anyone come back. I feel it would be worth the effort of trying to kick start this place again. Every site has a shelf life but I think that FoG hasn't hit it yet. Yes it is a niche site but it's a higher quality site. The way it functions with buttons and has the slick design is far superior to all other sites I've been to. If I had admin access I would already be working on the list of things I mentioned in my post. With no access to admin functions or support from the admins a revival effort would be short lived. If I had the ability to do the work I would, but I don't have access. But it would be nice to catch up with you while we're hanging around to see what happens.

How has life been for you? I heard a rumor you have completed a novel, so are you close to publishing it?

NaNoWriMo must have been what they were talking about. At least you were able to finish it! I have done it once and it was really tough. Its great to hear that you actually completed it! I have been editing mine for years now but its still about half way done. Editing is way harder than creating from what I've found. What is your novel about?

Since I've last been on the forum regularly I've gotten married, graduated with a BA in History, grew a beard, working full time, and am living with the inlaws to save money over the next few years so we can buy a house. lots of big life events!

I know what you mean! After getting to know my characters better I had to reorganize my entire novel. Had to move certain parts around, add pieces to cover certain parts better, make sure continuity was retained, and I'm still only half way through and made a new opening. Sounds like you and I are going through a similar experience while editing! So what is your novel about?

That sounds like an awesome book! Very creative and I think it would be well received if done well.

Mine is a fantasy novel based in the Roman Republic during the Civil War that turns it into an empire. The Greek gods & goddesses are active and show up a lot. It follows a group of 4 demigods who are trying to save the Republic. Lots of encounters with classic creatures from mythology. I'm having trouble balancing all the story lines, progression and pace. Any suggestions?
