Delta Green OOC Empty Delta Green OOC

Post by CountZero Sat Aug 11, 2012 10:10 pm

I'll mainly just copy paste what I have written out, which may be a bit spotty.
The tl;dr is: You are an employee of the US government, but also a member of a rogue sect within. A member of Delta Green. It is unsanctioned with any government, and if caught using their funds to fuel the war on Things Man Was Not Meant To Know, you'd be arrested, and most likely, committed.
But you have allies in other Delta Green members. They protect their own.
You are employed by the government, maybe a crack FBI agent, Marine Recon, or CDC scientist, Park ranger, or even a mail man. You've been chosen, tested and eventually let into this secret society by the crucible of the paranormal. But your work has yet to begin.

Now copy pasta from what I have already written.

Delta Green is the code name for th unofficial government agency dedicated to hunting and finding the Things Man Was Not Meant To Know. It's not sanctioned, on no books, and if members where found out, they'd be tried for fraud, murder, and many other things.
It's all over the government, though. From agents in the Center For Disease Control, to members of Marine Recon, to park rangers and even a few mail men.
All where recruited by others for their mental potential, more than physical, and having been exposed to these Things on their own. Some don't even know it's not sanctioned. Others find out for themselves, but are already in too deep, or want to stay in.

The world is stranger than we know now. Dark magics are rare, but powerful. Secret societies are more sinister than before. Things thought long dead by dark scholars are returning. It's mainly HP Lovecraftian Cthulhu Mythos, along with other assorted dark things.

You'll play an agent, usually an invetigator, but when needed, an executioner.

___
Anyone practicing actual magic is considered to be a non mortal by Delta Green standards. So no magic users here.

A few enemy and rival organizations are:
The Karotechia, The remanents of the Nazi Thule society. They've come into some dark powers with the help of Nyarlathotep, in the guise of the channeled spirit of the Fuher.

Majestic-12, this incredibly secret group is fully government sponsored, they, along with the rare president, know the secret of the Nazzadi, the visitors from beyond Pluto. The Ma-12 keep the dark skinned, very huminoid beings a secret. In return for helping them, and covering up any scattered botched human expiriments, they recieve technology, and a monthly report of all everyones war assets. The main reason the US has been on top for so long.

The Deep Ones, froglike followers of Cthulhu, quietly growing by crossbreeding in sleepy fishing villages.

The Network. A secret criminal syndicate that has fingers in everything, even the dark things. At the top is The Fate, a group of thirteen Lords, assassins. Anyone able to hire them is gurenteed success. Over the Lords is Stephan Alzis. A sorceror of amazing power, and fickle allegence. Helping one day, and hindering when he sees fit. His actions all benefit his secret agenda.

And of course the assorted zombies, vampires, and other slimey, crawly things that hide in closets.

More random info. The Nazzadi are not what they seem, but only a few of them know that. The scouts who are on Earth( a few hundred or so on Earth, and near orbit) know that they traveled here to study a potential enemy, not just the standard scout party. The humans don't know they are a potential enemy.
But it goes even deeper... Only a select few in the Nazzadi generalship know the truth. They are fake. Vat grown from altered human DNA. Synthetic memories implanted in the growing vats of the first generation of them gave them an extensive past, a history of their warlike culture, and even memories of loved ones. In the ship traveling to the blue planet, they bred more, instilling this second generation of the past they thought real. Their creation is known only to the top three leaders, and the creators, the Mi-Go. Part crustacian, part insect, and part fungus, this totally alian species created a whole new race as its contact with humans. Using the Ma-12 and the Nazzadi's relationship to conduct its own expiriments on humans, for a more sinister purpose.
Nazzadi are made from altered human DNA. So much so that interbreeding would be possible, if it happened. Jet black skin, red eyes that see in the dark, and pointed teeth. Their bodies are capable of agility and grace hardly imaginable to humans, they value speed over strength, but only slightly.

That's about all I have written down. Hope it wasn't too much and too dis-organized.

This will be my first RP on this site, but believe me, this isn't my first rodeo.

Spoiler:

Hope that covers it.

Delta Green OOC Empty Re: Delta Green OOC

Post by Spectre Sun Aug 12, 2012 2:43 pm

Name: David Clay
Age: 29
Employer: Central Intelligence Agency
Skills: Very driven by a motivation to please. He is bilingual in English and Russian, but knows a little of many languages. Highly trained Clandestine Service field operative. He is resourceful and excellent at thinking on his feet. Very agile and athletic.
Investigation gear: Small flip notebook that repels water, and a pencil that can write on said paper. Flashlight. Small durable digital camera. Two pairs of latex gloves. Multitool. Lockpick. Folding Knife. Smart Phone and his wallet. Often wears a ultra-light kevlar vest underneath his suit. His weapon is an H&K USP .45 in a concealed carry leather holster on his right hip.
Heavy gear: He stays lightweight and mobile as possible. He wears a manageable black plate carrier that covers his body vitals and neck, with molle magazine pouches for an H&K UMP across his belly. Said HK UMP is tethered to his plate carrier with an elastic 1-point sling. He has a black non reflective knife on his front left shoulder and breast. Drop-down holster for his Sidearm, and sidearm magazines on his belt, and side of his plate carrier. Carries a moderate amount of C4 and detpacks for the explosives. Other equipment in a few pouches includes a multitool, led flashlight, lockpick, and chemlights.

He wears a darker neutral grey jacket, and whatever type of pants he prefers to wear that day depending on the situation. He wears black Carbon Fiber reinforced 'O' assault gloves, and generally a black softcap and nv/thermal goggle. Kneepads are usually worn for swift and aggressive maneuvers. His footwear is comfortable, durable, and waterproof, and less clunky than a typical gi combat boot, almost more like a hiking boot. Makes running and moving quietly much easier and natural.
Brief bio: Grew up in a middle class home. He went to MIT and was at the top of his class. Displaying excellent skills at computer programming after having developed a special software, he was recruited into the CIA. He didn't know what to think at first but he accepted. He went through Clandestine Operations training where he learned espionage, covert operation protocols, and intelligence gathering techniques, among other things including but not limited to demolitions, weapons training, martial arts, and communications. He had endured some interesting training and had graduated.

After spending a few years doing some intense human intelligence work in the Middle East, North Africa, and the Eastern European theater as a nonofficial cover, he was noticed by Delta Green. While he was heading in to Langley, VA, he was approached by gentlemen who passed him information about his next opportunity. Thinking this was just another government contract, he accepted the mission.

It was to investigate a small village in Arkansas where people were disappearing. It was a strange case, as no one could find the bodies. After a few days he discovered that bones were being disposed of in a river, and a small group was practicing cannibalism. They did this to keep their youth, which apparently- actually worked. Despite actually being nearly a hundred years old, the few people involved appeared to be in their thirties and forties. Abnormal, and got his brain twisting, asking more questions. During a tight encounter, he had to execute two of the three people mainly involved. The last he had taken into custody via Delta Green numbers.

Upon returning, it was realized that his superiors were no longer part of the CIA, but something else entirely. He had just been recruited by the dark Delta Green group. After having witnessed what he had in Arkansas, he began to hold stock in the 'odd'. His past dealt highly in classified and need to know information. Delta Green knew above all else, they could trust him to keep his mouth closed. He was approached a week later, given another mission- a strange encounter with a serial killer who murdered without even touching his victims. It was like a form of telekenetics. This was a dangerous investigation as it would sound like, however it was completed and the man was brought in by Delta Green and locked up.

From here, Clay is still pretty new, and looking for his next assignment. He's confused, but determined. He gets that there's more than what meets the eye out there. More than what he was taught. He's privy to the extreme now. This is nothing he imagined but he's willing to continue to go through with his orders, feeling now smaller than he ever has before.

Delta Green OOC Empty Re: Delta Green OOC

Post by Safton Sun Aug 12, 2012 8:00 pm

Name: Wade Matlock

Age: 35

Gender: Male

Employer: United States Army

Skills: Due to his career in Army special operations, Wade is a consummate marksman and handler of firearms, both foreign and domestic. In addition, he is well-versed in hand-to-hand combat. Although not a spy or investigator by trade, his background has made him proficient at gathering intelligence through human assets, surveillance, the gathering of evidence, etc. He is able to rapidly adapt to the needs of a situation, even while under duress. He is proficient (albeit not necessarily fluent) in Arabic, Urdu, Persian, and Pashto.

He has picked up a wide variety of miscellaneous skills as well. Although by no means an expert in all skill sets, he knows the basics of tactical driving, stealth, surreptitious entry, wilderness survival, navigation, first aid, hot-wiring vehicles, tracking, climbing/rappelling, and bomb-making, among others.

Investigation Gear: Wade generally carries a Glock 22 chambered in .40 S&W, worn in a concealed belt holster, with two spare magazines. For a backup weapon, he carries a Ruger LC9 with a single spare magazine in an ankle holster. Matlock rarely travels anywhere without a small but powerful Surefire LED flashlight and folding knife in his pockets, in addition to his cell phone and wallet.

He keeps a ruggedized military-grade notebook/laptop, multitool, and any other odds and ends in a small black rucksack. If the situation allows, he may don a flexible and lightweight Kevlar vest under his clothing.

Heavy Gear: When going into a particularly dangerous situation, Matlock dons full military-style tactical gear: an Ops-Core FAST ballistic helmet with night vision mount (as needed), balaclava, tactical goggles, Multicam combat fatigues, ballistic vest with equipment pouches, knee pads, and combat boots.

Wade’s weapon of choice for such contingencies varies by situation. It typically consists of a modified HK416, although he may deploy other weapons from the Army's arsenal in rare cases: a SCAR Mk 17 battle rifle, Remington 870 MCS shotgun, Mk 46/48 machine gun, etc. His other weapons in such situations consist of his Glock 22, combat knife, and, if possible, several grenades of various sorts.

Matlock carries a small first aid kit and additional ammunition on his vest in high-risk situations, in addition to other provisions (rope, etc.) which he carries either on his person or in his rucksack.

Biography: Matlock was born in 1977 and raised in Georgia as part of a lower-middle class family. When he was ten years old, his mother was killed in a supposed mugging, leaving Wade’s father (a former Marine) to raise Wade alone. Wade received training in combat and survival as an adolescent and teenager. He performed well in high school, graduating near the top of his class and almost immediately enlisting with the United States Army in 1995. He spent his first, four-year enlistment with the 75th Ranger Regiment as an airborne infantryman.

In 1999, Matlock attended Special Forces selection & training, later being accepted into the Army’s 5th Special Forces Group as a “Green Beret”, working as an Assistant Operations and Intelligence Sergeant for the majority of his time in the unit. Several years later, he was inducted into what was then known as the Combat Applications Group – more commonly referred to as “Delta Force”. He has worked as an Operator within the secretive black ops counterterrorist unit for nearly six years, having risen to the rank of Master Sergeant. During his time with the military, Wade has seen combat in Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq, and other hot spots around the globe.

In 2011, Wade had been transferred to the Mission Support Activity and issued orders by his superiors (which originated, unbeknownst to them, within Delta Green). He was to track down and carry out the targeted killing of a local Afghan man, reputed to be an Al’Qaeda agent. The mission was to be carried out alone, ostensibly to keep a low profile. Matlock trekked deep into the Hindu Kush Mountains to find the remote village where the man was reported to be operating. He arrived and – to his surprise – found a village that had been terrorized, but not by insurgents.

The locals told stories of an evil sorcerer who lived in a mountain cave, commanding a small pack of hideous, humanoid creatures that fed on the dead of the village’s burial grounds, in addition to abducting children from their homes at night. Little did Matlock know, the residents were referring to the sinister ghouls of Arabian and Persian mythology. After questioning the village elders, Wade managed to confirm that the supposed master of the ghouls was, indeed, the man he had been sent to terminate. Left with little choice, the operator made his way toward the man’s cave, unsure of what to expect. He was quickly beset by the ghouls, which dismissed all doubt and skepticism he previously possessed. After killing several of the fiends, Wade finally reached their master’s home and eliminated him.

He returned to base soon after, reporting the mission’s success as well as its oddities in detail to several nondescript federal agents. The Soldier was commanded to keep silent about all details regarding the operation, which he did (against his better judgment). Shortly thereafter, he was tasked with a routine reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering operation, once again to be carried out solo. He maintained surveillance on another remote Afghan village, likewise terrorized by a supposedly mythological beast – a feline/human hybrid known as a manticore. Narrowly escaping an encounter with the creature, he requested permission to return with additional assets to terminate the beast. He was assured by the same agents as before that the situation would be handled. He was then “read in” on Delta Green and offered employment. He somewhat reluctantly accepted.

Spectre, what I believe CountZero means by "Heavy Gear" is the equipment your investigator would take with him when they know they're going into an extremely dangerous situation, like a raid or open combat.

Safton is correct on the heavy gear part. Which, for your character, could just be a kevlar vest and a handgun, unless you decide more.

Also, I'll have the majority of this take place in New England.
