Genre: SciFi/Horror/Survival/Thriller

In-Game Information:

A Brief History:

Ever since the twenty-second century, space travel had become a commodity. At first, not everyone could afford to sight-see among the stars or pay for insurance if their flight was to somehow become incapacitated while on a trip. However, it wasn’t long before others than just the wealthy members of Earth’s society flew among the stars.

In 2263 A.D., humanity gained access to ‘Jump’. Jump is simply the name used to describe the idea of ‘jumping’ through space at incredible speeds. It’s hard for people to understand, and even the people of higher educations who do understand have difficulty explaining it to normal people. Most people, therefore, treated it with some suspicion when scientists and engineers introduced ‘Jump’ as a new and exotic way of traveling through the stars instead of taking weeks (if not months) to travel to nearby planets such as Mars.

Jump had a habit of moving objects through space too quickly – to the point where ships were vanishing into stars because there was no way to tell where those stars were in time to avoid them. Some very clever people eventually came up with a ‘Phasing Drive’, a complicated machine that harnessed dark energy and used it to ‘phase’ objects in and out of molecular existence. After extensive testing, the Phasing Drive was combined with a Jump engine and the ability to safely travel through space was finally given to humanity in 2789 A.D.

The Phasing Drive was later proven to be less of a ‘phasing’ device, but rather a device that sent the objects within a Phasing Drive’s grasp into a different dimension for a short time. The dimension of ‘Jump’ is nothing to be afraid of. There is practically nothing there, and there are so many layers to the dimension that the risk of two ships in Jump colliding is all but impossible.

Jumpers are men and women who brave the possibility of death each and every day as they map routes among the stars. Even with Phasing Drives, Jumping would still be dangerous if not for Jumpers mapping out where stars and planets were located. The Universal Association of Jumpers (UAoJ) was initiated back in 2322 A.D. and still exists even today.

Over the next two centuries, space travel rapidly advanced. Planets beyond the known galaxy were named, terra-formed, and colonized. Space travel became so common that owning a ship or cruiser was a bit like owning a boat back in the twenty-first century. The first known pirate attacks were reported during the 2810’s, and several freighter companies were started up to transport people across the galaxy. One of the more influential and galaxy-spanning of these companies is Orbitus, a company catering mostly to the common people making their way from planet-to-planet.

Concerning Aliens

Spoiler:

Synopsis:

The year is now 2864 A.D. We, the passengers and crew of an Orbitus freighter, are travelling from one of the outer-rim worlds, Castor, to Earth. Our reasons are different, our paths not connected in the slightest… until our ship is attacked by pirates and the crew are forced to send the Orbitus 815 into a blind Jump.

Coming out of the Jump, the Orbitus 815 is drawn into a jungle planet’s gravity well. Only a few get to the escape pods and fewer who are left on board when the ship crashes planetside survive.

The Planet’s Occupants

General Info:

This roleplay is a sandbox roleplay - basically, once we get past the intro and crash planet-side, we're free to do whatever we want to, within reason. I will not force you or herd you about, or railroad you, or whatever you want it to call it. If there's a dragon, I won't make you fight it - your character can go halfway across the world and work as a waitress, instead, for all I mind! However, there are no dragons or bars here in this case, so... both would be highly unlikely to run across.

Since this is a sandbox roleplay and I have no real control over how the plot will go, I ask that you act respectfully and realistically in your interactions within the roleplay. I will set down the environment in which we are moving through, so you may have to refer to me quite a bit if you're planning to wander off on your own, but that is hopefully all you will have to rely on me for.

Please follow all Forum Rules, refrain from heated discussions in the OOC thread, and attempt to get along with other forum members as best you can. Posts have to be at least three paragraphs and at least twenty sentences in length. Proper grammar is a must. Please do not use any font colors or changes in font or text size if you can.

Work together! This means being polite, open to compromise, and communicative with other members. To get anywhere in this plot, we’re going to have to work together – both in Out of Character, and In-Character, but more so the former. Using the chatbox and private messaging to discuss plot and character ideas with others is just as awesome as chatting about them in the OOC.

Your character has no access to the OOC thread, remember! They don’t know what’s going on in our fiendish little minds, and have no clue of the thoughts of people around them unless specified otherwise.

Please refrain from taking over anyone’s main character(s) or owned NPCs without their permission. God-modding is a pure and simple no. NPCs will play a major role in this roleplay and may be used by all players - unless you wish to 'own' one, in that case you must state here in the OOC the character you are claiming, or creating. There will be a lot of survivors, so if your main character dies and you wish to keep playing, you can pick up the story with one of these nameless, 'faceless' characters.

Even though this is a sandbox roleplay, you're still in my world. Any character you meet in the wilderness who was not a survivor of the crash, for example, has to have been approved by me before they enter the game. You cannot create alien species, alien beasts, or any other such thing. You cannot randomly make a faction and decide they have been on the planet since, like forever, or send help from civilized space to your character or anyone else's.

Character Sheet Stuff: (See below for template.)

You can make up your own homeworld - it doesn't matter where in the galaxy it is, seeing as you probably won't be going back there any time soon. You can make it as large as you want, both in size and population, can create any industries you wish for it, and any history if you really feel like going into detail - most of these details are just given so others can take a gander at your CS and know what to refer to in-game if your character ever mentions where they are from.

If you don't feel like briefly making your character a homeworld, feel free to choose either Castor or Earth as your homeworld. Earth is terribly overpopulated and is filled with skyscrapers, grey buildings, and hardly any green. Nations are still separated as they were in the twenty-first century, but most of the smaller countries have been swallowed up by the larger. They still go by the same names. Earth has no exports to the rest of the universe - except trained personnel and settlers, if they count.

Castor is a planet much larger than Earth, but its population isn't so dense. Castor is a green, lush planet with many lakes and oceans, and is one of the largest agricultural providers. Earth's animals are thriving there, and it would seem so are humans. Castor, despite its size, only has one, massive city where most of the population lives, going also by the same name as the planet its on - Castor City.

As for the rest of the character sheet... name is relatively simple, as is age and gender. Your character can be any age, though I would prefer your main character to be at least older than fourteen. Children characters are definitely allowed, as are elderly. I would suggest you don't make more than one character (including NPCs, unless they're your character's companion on the flight) before we reach the planet's surface. I think the rest is self-explanatory.

Any questions, feel free to throw them at me!

WORK IN PROGRESS!

Name: Tazir Yezarian

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Occupation: Formerly a soldier, he now seeks employment in private security.

Personality: Tazir presents himself as quiet and sensitive. Fronting as friendly, caring and understanding; Tazir however… Is malevolent, deceitful and a pathological liar. Two faced and manipulative, he typically tries to twist and tamper people towards achieving his goals for him.

Background: Tazir was born and bred into the Kassian military; having never known his parents, his older brother and sister were and are the only biological family he has known. For that of a Kassian, Tazir's life for the most part has been uninteresting and conventional. Training, eating, fighting, eating, training, sleeping… Routine, discipline and violence plainly describe most of his life. Though Tazir had been a fine soldier and performed well in combat; his last battle on behalf of Kassur would be the reason for his exile.

In the chaotic atmosphere of weapon fire and shrapnel flying about; Tazir shot two other Kassian Soldiers by mistake. Though the Kassian's had won the skirmish and managed to secure the moon which they had attempted to invade; several officers and soldiers who had witnessed Tazir's loss of control and sense testified against him. Though the Kassian government recognising that he wasn't a traitor, but simply a liability he was not sentenced to death. In their mercy they exiled Tazir from Kassur, for should he ever attempt to return or be caught on the planet it's self… The punishment would be death.

Confused and devastated, Tazir's brother Hazzan managed to arrange a transport to and from Castor in order to get Tazir to Earth. Where Tazir's chances of being able to disappear, make a successful and happy new life for himself would be possible. On the way to Castor, Tazir was able to clear his head; though still a bit confused he managed to pull himself together and get to Earth with a plan.

Appearance: Tazir stands 6,1" tall, he has a lean and wiry, but muscular build. His skin generally is pale, unless exposed to a great deal of sunlight in which case he develops a deep olive tan. Tazir has blue eyes and straight, longish black hair which he combs back. He has a large, strongly shaped nose with the quintessential Kassian bull ring in it. His forearms covered in the standard triangular spiral pattern worn by teenage and adult Kassians; he also possesses several other tattoos on his chest and upper arms signifying his former rank, training and a brief family history. His name is also tattooed onto his chest, inner arm and the back of his right ear. Tazir has several scars on his arms, neck and chest from training, fights and combat- These range from cuts and wounds inflicted by knives, finger nails and shrapnel.

Other: Tazir has many years of military training; he is proficient with several types of ranged weaponry and miscellaneous military equipment such as basic communication systems and tools. Like all Kassian soldiers, Tazir is a very skilled unarmed combatant and knife fighter; he is also well trained in rifle mounted bayonet fighting. He speaks Kassurat, English and knows several phrases and words in Arabic.

Homeworld: Kassur

Homeworld Details: The Kassian people have existed roughly for the last 590 years, anthologists believe them having been descended from a number of Arabic, Iranian, Armenian, Slavic and Turkic speaking settlers; settling on the cold, but fertile world now known as "Kassur" the various groups broke their cultural and sentimental ties with Earth. Over time mixing into the single unified culture, language and nation now known as Kassians. Kassians have quickly identified themselves as a warrior people, their culture revolves around war and military prowess; Kassian warriors are infamous for their ferocity, bravery and considerable skills in hand to hand combat, trench warfare and knife fighting. Military service and training is mandatory for all Kassians, beginning at the age of 5; children are conscripted into training camps where they spend the entirety of their time being groomed into the ideal Kassian Soldier.

At the age of 30, Kassians are permitted to leave the military and pursue private employment/enterprise in the utility skills they may have learned in the military. Kassians can be easily identified by their bull loop style nose rings and their heavily tattooed forearms. Kassian artwork is easily recognisable by the uncompromising frequency of triangles, triangular spiral patterns and four pointed star patterns. Kassians speak Kassurat, a language that uses Arabic script, Kassians by vast majority are either Christians or Muslims. Though both are alternate, Kassian specific denominations that anoint Kassians as a kind of "Chosen people", despite how it may contradict the messages of both religions. There is little real hostility between either religious groups, the Kassian government though tolerant and supportive of religion… Keeps it under a short leash. The Kassian government is in the traditional sense a fascist entity, however Capitalism has a strong level of presence within Kassian society.

WORK IN PROGRESS!

This looks really interesting. Unfortunately, my character archetype was unceremoniously stolen by Keith (I kid, I kid). I'll see what else I can work up. Never been part of a truly sandbox RP.

Deucalion OOC Empty Re: Deucalion OOC

Post by Kate Orchix Sat Jun 30, 2012 9:19 pm

Name: Danika "Danny" Starling

Age: 23

Gender: Female

Occupation: Amateur Photographer / Con-Artist

Personality: Danny learned from an early age to be deceptive for her career path. She isn't exactly who the real her is, due to her strange upbringing and being taught how to be other people than herself. She's almost forgotten who she was originally and who she's meant to be. Despite her confusion as to her own personality, others can easily see the real her when her guard is down.

Generally, she is a quiet person but knows when to speak up and/or defend herself. She's a bit of a lone wolf and has no real friends except for her dog, Crook. Despite her lack of friends or company, she has a friendly personality even though at times she can be quite abrasive in her own manner. She trusts no one fully - just Crook.

When placed in a tough situation, Danny will take the initiative and do crazy, unpredictable things. Rarely, in an adrenaline-pulsed conflict will she take the flight response... which often gets her into trouble seeing as she's not the best fighter, despite being able to throw a good punch. Often, other people may have to drag her away from a violent situation seeing as she will rarely back down unless she realizes she's hurt a bit too much for her liking or adrenaline has worn off.

Background: Danika's childhood and teenage years in the Castor Undercity were full of crime. She knew how to successfully pick pockets before she was five years old, pick a lock before she was seven, and she had always known how to act since she was born. Her father was a con-artist, and he had no doubts that she would turn out to be something similar.

Danny became a proficient con-artist before she had reached her teens and could provide for herself well enough before the age of fifteen. Still, her father was persistently loyal to her, and despite their criminal lifestyle, he brought her up as best he could with morales to suit that of a young woman in a completely different environment - morales that they both chose to constantly avoid with rules that they often broke. Still, Danny knew how to act as a nice, civilised young woman.

She always knew that being a con-artist was what she was good at, and it would be her livelihood most likely for the rest of her life. However, she once managed to get her hands on a tourist's camera as a young girl and quickly fell in love with photography. She always dreamed that it would be her escape from her life as a criminal and repeatedly practised, getting better and better with the camera.

Eventually, after her school years were over, she turned her career path to that of a photographer. Still, it wasn't enough to pull in the cash - especially after her father was killed for shady dealings - and she had to support herself with conning people out of their money once more. She quickly learned to keep a knife or her father's old pistol with her at all times so she wouldn't suffer the same fate as her him.

Finally, her crimes caught up with her and several gangs started attempting to hunt her down. She decided it was time to leave Castor and try to start her life over. The cheapest flight out was to Earth, so taking her dog and her meagre belongings, she boarded Orbitus 815. Once she reaches Earth, she hopes to put her con-artistry behind her and make a living from photography.

Appearance: THIS IS A LINK. Danny stands at five foot six with a broad-shouldered, yet slim build. Some would say her legs draw a lot of attention with their length and shape. She has long, dark chestnut hair, and sharp hazel eyes. Her skin is generally creamy-white, but easily tans into a soft brown-hued colour. She has no piercings, even in her ear lobes, nor any tattoos. A small scar notches her right eyebrow from a violent encounter with Undercity gang members.

Other: Danika can use a gun, but her aim is dreadful. Despite owning a knife, she avoids conflicts with it. She carries her camera at all times on her person in the hopes of being able to snap good pictures at odd times. Danny is often accompanied by her dog, Crook, who was trained by her father - shortly before he died - how to steal wallets and return them to Danny. Knowing how to steal wallets doesn't make Crook an overly smart dog, however - he's not vicious, and is instead quite a friendly, social butterfly.

Homeworld: Castor

Homeworld Details: Castor is a large planet, home to trillions of people who mostly live in Castor City. For the rich and the average person, Castor is a lovely place to live - the rich can afford to live near the outskirts of the City and be witness to the beautiful landscapes of Castor's plains and mountains, and live nearer the tops of buildings towards the centre of the city. The average person has a pretty good life in Castor City with similar benefits as to the rich in living location, but the poorer a person is, the worse life gets for them. The depths of the massive Castor City are in poor condition. The foundations of the larger, taller buildings are kept stable, but life is no picnic in the Undercity.

In the Undercity, jobs are hard to come by and a consistent job even harder. A rough place, the Undercity is ruled by the scum of the world and law enforcement hardly ever enters unless to protect the bases to the Lowercity and Uppercity buildings when they need to be structurally reinforced. Business in the Undercity usually consists of the seedier, dangerous variety. Gangs are abundant and the common people rarely have anyone to turn to if they are bullied seeing as Law Enforcement won't touch the Undercity.

Natural light never reaches the Undercity - all entrances and exits to and from the Undercity are closely monitored by security in the Lowercity. The Lowercity connects the Undercity to the rest of Castor City, but there are very few ways to get in and out of the Undercity - one needs a Pass to show the authorities if they want to get out unless they're heading to the Spaceport.

The Lowercity isn't as grand and easy to live in as the Uppercity is, but it is a far nicer place to live than in the Undercity. Employment, due to the lesser amount of people in the Lower and Upper cities than down in the Undercity, is easy enough to come by. Most of the Uppercity people are businessmen or follow other lofty career paths, as do the Lowercity people - only, the Lowercity people generally aren't paid as much and can't afford the Uppercity apartments.

Just some notes on the crew:

Captain/Pilot (Played by me for the first two posts.)
Co-pilot
Security Guard 1 (Taken by The Ghost Rider)
Security Guard 2 (Taken by Shea)
Engineer (Sort of taken by Ikitt)
Host/Hostess 1
Host/Hostess 2
Host/Hostess 3
Navigator (Will need to be knocked out during the first couple of posts - still available)
Communications Expert

I updated the first post in the 'Orbitus 815' spoiler to show a shoddy-looking map of what the Orbitus 815 looks like inside. Pretty much like an airplane. A lower deck will lead down to the engine room.

EDIT: The host/hostesses will have basic medical training.

And concerning cyborgs:

Deucalion OOC Empty Re: Deucalion OOC

Post by Wadjet Fri Jul 06, 2012 11:54 pm

Well, here's hoping this is good.

Name: Adrian Fenstermacher

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Occupation: Actor

Personality: Adrian's always been a bit on the quiet side when not in the spotlight, prone to getting lost in thought and becoming all but oblivious of the outside world. The rest of the time he's pretty friendly, if a bit closed off.

He's pretty good at letting things slide off his back, whether it be an insult or the latest gossip about him, a pretty good trait to have when you're in the public eye like he is. He'll most likely laugh it off even.

Background: Adrian grew up on Earth, in southern California. He had a decent life, never really wanted for anything and with a loving family. At an early age he was bitten by the acting bug. It started out as just entertaining his family and friends, but before too long he was landing some professional roles.

The roles were alright, no big exposure, until he landed the lead in a short-lived but critically acclaimed TV series, Miserable. Despite the small amount of time it was on air, he gained enough recognition that he was able to launch a movie career.

Most movies can be made on Earth, in studios using current technology to create the settings. However, every once in a while you'll get a director who wants something more 'real.' And the director of Adrian's current movie was one of those types, insisting they film on location on Castor.

The whole thing went pleasantly enough, with an apartment in the nicest part of Castor City while he was there. More then a few delays, however, made him impatient to leave. Once filming was done, he had the option of taking a VIP transport back to Earth in two weeks, or taking a commercial transport as soon as one was leaving. Feeling rather home sick, he chose the latter option.

Appearance: 5'11" and kept well in shape

Spoiler:

Other: He knows a bit of a few kinds of martial arts, has been trained on how to use a gun for one or two films, and has picked up a small bit of actually accurate survival tips, although he's unaware of their accuracy.

Was voted number 13 on a recent poll of the hottest male actors. Was also recently nominated as the most promising rising new star.

Homeworld: Earth.

Homeworld Details: The big blue marble. I'm sure you know it.

Specifically, he is from the sprawling Southern California megacity Los Angeles. Still one of the largest hubs for the entertainment industry.

Let's get this moving along shall we? In a few hours, I'll send you all (people who haven't posted CSs) harassing PMs asking if you're still interested if you don't post in here quickly enough. Wink

Be afraid of the harassing PMs. They include polite words such as 'please' and 'thank you.'

EDIT: Sunal Wolfsbane doesn't have internet access at the moment. He'll send the CS in once he does. Might be a little while.

Background:Tabatha was born and raised on the outer rim world of Sinanju. Her parents worked as farmers growing soybeans, Tabby wanted more than to be a simple farmer. At the age of eighteen she joined the militia while there wasn’t much to do in the militia, it was still more exciting than growing crops. At the age of twenty she was promoted to the rank of sergeant, two weeks later she was discharged from the militia for going AWOL. Needing money she took a job on an Orbitus freighter as a security guard.

Deucalion OOC Empty Re: Deucalion OOC

Post by Sheah Sun Jul 08, 2012 6:35 am

Note: HHD - Holographic Handheld Device. Like a portable holographic screen thing.

Name: ‘TJ’

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Occupation: Gun-for-hire/Security Guard

Personality: Sour towards those she despises, but generally friendly and easy-going towards her associates. She has a soft spot for children, though she has banished the notion of ever having her own family due to personal reasons. Wherever possible, she will lend a hand to those in need, and she hates to see others suffer under tyranny or the actions of others. Although she was a trouble-maker growing up, in her early days at the academy she was considered to be too much of a ‘by-the-book’ cop, subsequently earning herself various titles and recognition from her superiors - although she grew to resent this as it pulled her further away from her peers, and personal glory was never in her agenda anyway.

Nowadays she is much less stern, but she knows how to do her job, and her morals are still stronger than ever; no matter the price, she will not be swayed into doing anything illegal or potentially compromising for anyone else. To her friends she is strong, though somewhat heavy-hearted.

Background:
Spoiler:

Appearance:
Spoiler:

Other: When it comes to her job, TJ has the ability to choose who her employer will be. If a company or individual requires her services, they will send a request to her via her personal HHD – a report detailing the specifics of the job and the figure of payment. After she has been notified of a possible job, she will research past dealings of the company in order to give her an indication of who is true to their word and who may have the intention of simply using her. Once a job has been thoroughly inspected, she will either accept or decline. Aside from what she has discovered, and whether or not the conditions suit her, TJ may refuse an offer simply because the money may not be good enough. This time around, the people seemed trustworthy enough and the pay was decent, so she landed the job on the Orbitus 815.

TJ is skilled in hand-to-hand combat and efficient with a large array of weaponry, although she favours handguns and assault rifles. She is also extremely fit, light on her feet and able to cope in tasking situations. She is of pique mental and physical fitness, and a decent tactician on the battlefield.

Homeworld: Planet: Sestre, Hometown: Salem, aka “The Mudbrick City”

Homeworld Details: On the outskirts the major metropolis of Dorabea lies the almost insignificant town of Salem, better known as the ‘mud brick’ city. Its occupants consist of mostly thieves and peddlers, as well as various guilds, pubs and the police office. The ‘city’ contains one school, consisting of a kindergarten to tertiary education system, although only a few hundred children attend.

Deucalion OOC Empty Re: Deucalion OOC

Post by quakernuts Sun Jul 08, 2012 8:24 pm

Name: Gary "Wreck" Reckons

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Occupation: Ship Engineer (Not currently employed by Orbitus)

Personality: Gary has never truly earned his nickname in the way people would expect. With a tag such as "Wreck" one might expect Gary to be reckless, chauvinistic, arrogant, and most likely an asshole. That couldn't be further from the truth. Gary is a withdrawn individual, but not to the point of being anti-social. He plays his cards close to his chest, preferring not to let anything worthwhile slip out about himself or his work unless he trusts the person in front of him completely. He has a soft voice, which is rare for a ship engineer, and often is unheard due to his inability or lack of desire to speak up. Despite his lack of social tendencies, Gary tends to be a determined, hard working, and possibly even psychotic worker. He has often been seen driving himself to the edge of starvation, dehydration, or some other physical ailment because of his lack of common sense to go get food or water when the work in front of him is incomplete.

He is not a trusting individual. Speaking to someone isn't necessarily hard for him to do, just something that he doesn't do a lot because of the nature of his work. He tends to see people as beings that are ultimately in life for themselves. That being said, he is not a complete pessimist, but simply believes that the only person he should fully trust and depend upon is himself. Gary is also quite intelligent, and at times, deeply philisophical. His thoughts range from the practicalities of a jump core, to the meaning of the universe.

Gary is not a fighter at heart, but due to the natural advantage, or disadvantage in some cases, of his homeworld's flora and fauna, Gary can become a beserker and blood thirsty fighter if pushed hard enough. He has learned to control his emotions and heartbeat with time and effort, but the effects of being born on Isarcus are always there, and always threatening to surface when in times of great duress.

Background: Gary was born on the far reaching colonist world of Isarcus, which was known for it's technical and mechanical expertise among it's people. Gary's childhood was mainly boring, never making many friends and the few that he did were kept at an arm's length at best. He was anti-social in his younger years, overcoming it as he became older but at the time, he became a loner that focused solely on his studies. Much of his childhood was consumed by this, and if he wasn't studying he was building and repairing whatever he could get his hands on. He grew up to become one of the top students at his school, and was instantly recognized from the Ryan Clarry Institution. It was a post-secondary educational facility renowned through out Isarcus for it's ability to produce some of the best engineers, mechanics, and technicians in the known galaxy. Needless to say, Gary was ecstatic at the news. His hard work had paid off and now he was going to become one of the best at what he wanted to do the most...

Working on ship engines.

His trip through the Institution, which took a few years, was mainly uneventful. Once again, Gary was anti-social to a fault but slowly started coming out of his shell as several assignments required extensive workings with other students. By the end of the first year, he had managed to, if not break his shell, at least crack it to let another person see out. He became known as "Wreck", simply a shortage of his last name that, despite his ability to make almost anything work after a bit of time, caught on. It wasn't until his third year at the Ryan Clarry Institution that something interesting happened to Gary.

He had been spending the past couple of weeks rebuilding a ship Jump Engine from scratch. When he returned to his makeshift garage, he managed to catch a couple of students detaching it from the harnesses, and a look outside displayed a truck that they were apparently going to use to steal the work he had managed to accomplish almost completely on his own in two weeks. He yelled at them, hoping that his catching them in the act would scare them off. Instead, when they looked up he saw they were wearing black masks. Jealousy at the Institution was hardly a new thing, being a very competitive school to become the best, but thievery was rarely heard of. Instead of running out, as Gary thought they would, the three would be thieves launched themselves at him. Gary tried to fight back, but was quickly overwhelmed, thrown to the ground, and beaten senseless. His work as a mechanic and engineer had honed his body, but not to the point where he was of a soldier type build.

Just before the point where he was about to black out, he felt his adrenal glands finally start to kick in. Just as they did, Gary's world went black and when he regained sight and knowledge of where he was, he found a wrench in his hand and blood splattered over his overalls. He looked around the makeshift garage, finding that all of his gear had been strewn throughout the place, his Jump Engine was half destroyed, and the three burglers were laying on the floor either unconscious or dead. Gary nearly panicked, but managed to get a hold of himself long enough to call the incident in to the authorities. A few minutes later, they were there and he was arrested pending further possible charges.

Isarcus's judicial system was much like Earth's in the form that you must be proven guilty before charges could be laid. However, the trials were very much private affairs, and never broadcasted for the world to see unless the cases were too huge to avoid a public spectacle. After a few days of being held in the local prison, Gary was later told that two of the burglers were going to make full recoveries, having sustained several broken bones and concussions. The third had died of his wounds in the hospital. There was later a trial, with the burgler's families all invited to attend and see the man who was responsible for putting two of their children in the hospital and another in the grave. After much debate, about four day's worth, it was deemed that Gary's wounds were consistent with an assault. His blood screens also appeared positive for adrenaline which ruled in a possible Adrenal Blackout as Gary had stated in his statement.

After much deliberation from the jury and the judge, it was deemed that Gary would not be charged for manslaughter or assault, indicating this was a case of trespassing, assault, and Adrenal Activation on the side of the burglers. Gary walked out of that trial scott free, save for the yelling and swearing of the families of the thieves.

Gary spent the rest of his time at the institution mainly by himself after that. He became slightly paranoid, making sure everything was locked up almost to a fault. His anti-social tendencies started to resurface, but by the time that Gary had managed to graduate from the Ryan Clarry Institution he had managed to crack the shell once more to the point where he was able to easily converse with people should the need arise. However, his time spent on Isarcus was well and truly over. He had never fully recovered from his bout of Adrenal Blackout, and sometimes felt his hands shaking as his thoughts returned to what had happened that night. An Isarcan's adrenal glands were more powerful than a regular human's, but they could rarely be controlled or even predicted as to how much stimuli must be happening in order for them to function. So, with barely a word to anyone from his campus or his home town, Gary managed to catch a ride to several different planets before landing on Castor.

There, he managed to catch wind of a job on another planet where someone was looking for someone with his set of talents. Seeing as Castor didn't really have anything he was looking for, and he preferred to still be a little bit farther away from Isarcus, he boarded the next flight off the planet to see if the rumour was true. So he boarded Orbitus 815 with hopes of finally finding something stable after having travelled so far from his home, and hopefully something that would keep him occupied for years to come.

Appearance:

Spoiler:

Gary stands at a small 5'9 with a honed frame that has several most relating to his profession as an Engineer. His hair is dirty blonde underneath his welding cap fixed with self-adjusting protective goggles that tint to just the right level when having to weld components together. He tends to be a rather looking guy, despite the wiry muscles on his frame and some could even take him as being malnourished, which might actually be the fact should he be working on something at the time of the comment.

Other: Aside from the incident at the Institution, Gary has never been in a real fight. He has never handled a weapon aside from what the wrench could possibly be, and has had no martial arts training. However, Isarcans are a strange breed of people because of what the natural plant life of Isarcus does to their physiology. Over the generations that have been born on Isarcus, the plant life has managed to alter a subtle part of their genes, most specifically their adrenal glands. Scientists have investigated the matter, but deem it as a by product of the unique make up of the plant's pollen and spores that changes just how an Isarcan's adrenal gland works. Basically put, it is slightly enlarged and it's use almost entirely diminished. An Isarcan can not will adrenaline into his or her body, nor does it come easy even during times of great duress. The adrenal gland of an Isarcan will only activate under the most extreme of cases, where death may be completely likely. When this happens, the enlarged gland does not slowly seep the adrenaline into the body, but rather pushes it straight through out the veins of the subject. This most often then not causes black outs in the user, and increases their strength to several times their standard. Isarcan's under this effect have little to no control over their body at this point, only the military, having introduced new tech and extreme training regimes, has been able to control it, and only in varying degrees. Every time an Isarcan's adrenal gland is 'activated' there is also a probability of the user dying because their heart can not handle the amount of pure adrenaline going through the body at once and in such a fast manner. So the law was created about Adrenal Blackouts. Everyone on the planet knew full well what it would take to have someone's adrenal glands activate, and has become a solid defense in the worst case assault or murder trials.

Homeworld: Isarcus

Homeworld Details: Isarcus is a warm and almost completely tropical world. Over 70% of the world is covered in jungles, while the rest is covered in water. In order to live in the environment, many construction companies were required to clear swathes of land to create openings large enough for cities to be constructed. Due to this, the cities are often smaller than others on neighboring planets. Each city has a crew with the sole responsibility of watching the growth on the edge of town, in charge of maintaining the edge of the city's limits to prevent overgrowth that could compromise a city's systems and integrity. Each city is also equipped with not only a law enforcement detachment, but a wildlife hunting confederation unit as well. The wildlife, while tending to normally stay away from the cities, can and will come into the city quite easily. These beasts range from the size of a small dog to a large truck, and many are carnivorous. These hunters are tasked with keeping the city safe solely from these creatures, along with any nearby roads and paths that lead into the city limits.

Despite these natural hazards and habitat, Isarcus quickly became a port of engineers, mechanics, and technicians. The people of Isarcus latched on to any and all technology, and one among their number was at the forehead of it all. Ryan Clarry, an aspiring engineer and technician was among the brightest and most capable people on the planet. His alterations to Jump mechanics and his contributions to technology as a whole rendered him a near Saint among Isarcus. When he eventually succumbed to old age, the Ryan Clarry Institution was constructed to honor his contributions to the galaxy by teaching others to think and build like he did in order to further advance the needs of the universe. As such, Isarcus has become a leading producer of some of the best engineers, technicians, electricians, physicists, and mechanics the galaxy has ever known.

Isarcus is also known for it's plant life, which has caused a subtle mutation in the generations of the people of Isarcus. Isarcans are also, at times, called 'psychotics' for a reason. Their adrenal glands have, throughout the generations, been mutated by the planet's plant life to be larger, and resilient to normal stimuli that would induce an adrenaline rush. This being said, when they do manage to get an adrenaline rush, they become nigh uncontrollable, turning into super strength beserkers who have a high possibility of heart failure due to the increase of their heart's bpm. Until their heart collapses though, they are nearly unstoppable. Wounds don't affect them like they normally would in this case and they appear to never tire while under the adrenaline's effect, hence the nickname of 'psychotics' came into effect. Ironic, considering that normally an Isarcan is usually regarded as an academic.

Isarcus's military isn't overly large, but the soldiers they do have are some of the most disciplined in the known galaxy. Do not mix this with 'the best' in the galaxy, for they are far from that. However due to their dangerous job mixed with a mutated Adrenal Gland, they need to stay in constant control of their bodies and learn to draw upon this gland when the time requires it. As such, they are incredibly controlled emotionally and follow orders to the letter, but due to the nature of going into battle without any kind of adrenaline rush are actually more prone to shell shock and other mental conditions that come with war-like conditions. The soldiers rely heavily on technology to defend themselves, often having slightly better equipment when entering the battlefield as opposed to other planet's standing armies, but that is about the only advantage they have over their neighboring brothers and sisters.

As far as religion goes, Isarcans are not overly faithful. Over 80% claim to be Athiest while the rest are a mixture of Christian, Catholic, Jewish, and Muslim. Most Isarcans believe in the evolutionary theory of life rather than the thought of some super being that created them all from nothing. While not overly pushy about their faith, they tend to not respect religion as a whole, and can sometimes find themselves at odds with the more faithful of the religious aspect of Isarcus. Isarcans are also descendants of primarily English culture with a mixture of Russian and American.

Name: Terric Lars Cross

Age: 24

Gender: Male

Occupation: Deep Mining Specialist.

Personality: Terric personality would be best described as lazy or lethargic most of the time. His family has instilled in him a degree of hard working but it can rarely be seen unless he feels that the situation require more attention then he thought. His mind is sharp though, and many others see him as a slacker riding his family's wealth to the easy road but he has payed his dues. Terric earned his degrees putting countless hours into online schooling and dead planet mining operations giving him the hands on training needed; something he really valued more then books. One of the few things Terric does have a hard about it living on a planet is insects, lots of sunlight, and the shear amount of open space sometimes gets to him making almost agoraphobic.

Background: Terric life began in a underground colony called Golem-13. A base that was constructed deep within Monolith; a giant rock planet. After his birth his father soon saved up enough money to start his own mining rig, leading him to hit a gold mine of the future. Several mineral enriched veins under no one's control, giving him free reign to pick away and start building his own family company. Later in life Terric was moved deeper and deeper as each one slowly ran dry of resources. Luckily Terric had a knack for finding newer veins with enough time and the right tools which kept his families business running.

Which in turn gave rise to the Cross Digs Section of Golem-13, it quickly became popular as fewer and fewer other companies could keep up with how deep the Crosses stretched. Later in Terric's years he started schooling, learning from online classes, traveling school to school for short periods of time, and several smaller rigs to practice the trade his father would past down onto him one day. Terric soon became one of the 'Moles' as his father said that would fuel the future, with the later years growing into a better miner. Cracking larger deeper veins, and running smoother operations soon became second nature to him.

With his family doing well and Monolith growing more and more into a populated planet; Terric thought it would be a wise move to travel to Earth, and try and hasten the Terraforming Request to full active. Hoping that Monolith sheer amount of resources of metals would be enough to push Earth into sending the money and equipment to start early.

Appearance: Short raven black hair, ending just shy of his ears. The front having longer bangs shortening the farther to the back of his head. Wireless glasses that try to hide his green eyes that attach magnetically to a small steel rod running threw the bridge of his nose, meaning it has no frame to speak of. He often wears a sporting set of industrial double lens goggles from his neck with the same lime green lens as they are becoming a fashion statement on Monolith.

A pale skin completion, fitting to most people that are raised on dead planets and underground stations due to the lack of natural sunlight. Terric's frame is average height 5.10" and weighting in at 186 pounds comprised of mostly stern muscle. His clothes are often made of strong sturdy materials including cargo jeans, and tougher over coats or vests.

Other: Terric knows a bit about everything making him a natural Jack-of-Trades. From small patches, ventilation systems, re-breathers, wielding hulls, light electronics, computers, and engines. He has lived in more then one underground base and knows the ends and outs on the basics of how they run including heavy industrial mining rigs, and cracking pits.

Also due to living underground most of his life, and Monolith's dry troposphere his skin has toughen giving it a rougher, hide like feeling to the touch. Terric's body has adapted to low oxygen areas much like someone who has lived in high elevations. Monolith's air is breathable but toxic and lacking enough oxygen to sustain life as of now. Because of this bases are still reliant on re-breathers systems. Years of working in a physically hard environment has also strengthen Terric, giving him a grip much like a bears, and enchant endurance.

Homeworld: Monolith, also has a single large moon Giga

Homeworld Details: Monolith is a large mountainous rock planet with no life, and harsh wind currents. The thin atmospheres air is highly toxic and has little to no oxygen forcing all personal to use re-breathers. The surface is littered with smaller encampment that work as docking bay, and entrances to much larger underground hive cities where the majority of Monolith's population lives. Underneath the surface of this cruel planet is a large network of smaller cities each connected by a labyrinth of underground subways and tunnels that stretch miles beneath the surface. The people of the planet are sturdy, hard working, strong, and kind folk. Having deep family bonds that other worlds can't seem to understand. There hair colors are mostly darker shades of browns, and black.

When the dead planet was first discovered it soon became popular to mining corporation once high amounts of resources was detected under it's crust; leading to a rush of settlers trying to strike big. Quickly the surface became too dangerous to live on with the powerful sandstorms able to pick so quickly, and air already unbreathable pushing settlers to stay in there mining camps underground. Which then turned to cities as it was more convenient then forcing construction on the surface, and much cheaper. Now after several generations the planet is starting to ask for aid from Earth, and are now filing for a request to be fully Terraformed into a livable planet.

Name: Ailean “Lian” Fields

Age: 43

Gender: Male

Occupation: Translator/Communications Supervisor

Personality: Lian was raised to be a care-free individual but through the trials of University and further dealings with other members of the human race he has lost much of what he was raised to be. No longer the happy-go-lucky sort, Lian has become a cranky old man at an early stage of his life. He is short of patience and quick to anger.

While Lian has been known to start a scuffle or two, the only place he finds true joy anymore is in language. The intricacies of each new language he encounters fascinates him and have made it possible for him to become one of the most sought after Communications Experts.

Background: Ailean was born to a Scottish family on Earth. His parents were both cooks, and loved their jobs which made for a fantastic family atmosphere. Lian was the nickname bestowed upon him by his father, who would often take Lian for walks around their home town. This would not last for long though.

At the age of 12, Lian lost his father. His mother was never the sort to mourn, and so she kept on cooking to provide for herself and Lian. Lian didn’t know how to feel about the whole situation, so he followed the example set by his mother and remained a happy care-free child. The world didn’t seem to be able to touch the child and his mother.

Lian travelled to Great Britain for University when he became of age, focusing primarily on linguistics. The first year was not an easy one for Lian had never been so far from home, and he missed his mother deeply. He survived though, and found no greater joy than in studying the facets of a new language. By the end of his second year Lian was top of his class and had mastered 5 languages.

At the end of his third year Lian was approached by the professor of technological communications and offered a job in his lab. Lian accepted, and was soon put to work fixing and using communications arrays. This job held potential for Lian, for he knew that he would be able to travel which had become a new dream for him, a possibility to find so many more languages.

It was his fourth year at University when Lian’s world was broken in two. He received a call notifying him that his mother had been maimed and killed by a serial killer, whom the police have yet to capture. Lian did not swear vengeance, or go to any lengths to find the serial killer, but instead went in to a deep funk. He focused on only his work, allowing himself no attachments other than the people on the other end of the calls he made from the communications array.

Lian was hired directly out of University to work on a space ship, and accepted without hesitation. His travels through space have only shown him more horrors, and have further destroyed his faith in humanity.

Recently, Lian was approached with an offer to work as the Communications Expert aboard the Orbitus 815. Thinking this would be just another job, he accepted reluctantly and began preparations for the departure.

Appearance: Stands about 1.88 meters (6' 2")
Spoiler:

Other: Lian took a few fencing courses while at University, but was much more involved in boxing. He never competed, but he has a mean right hook. Aside from that, he has no combat experience and only carries a small surplus knife on him.

Homeworld: Earth

Homeworld Details: The same Earth that is here today, only with less greenery. Lian was raised in a relatively small Scottish town, and moved to the city for University.
