"An Island In The Grey Sea"

Laid upon the compass for a parquet,
After another either-or today,
Engulfed in cerise petals and warm rye,
I cast a worn gaze on the vaulted sky,
Through the ceiling of this lost pantheon,
On an island in the grey sea, all gone,
I wait for Indra to shed some good grace,
I wait for Orion to kiss my face,
I wait for a sign beyond Elara,
And I wait for a broken Newton's Law.
Finally you shone, riding a small star,
You came and changed me, us men so afar,
Like a prayer that opened sesame,
You said a brief rhyme which made me not see,
What you had meant by sole, soul, or the Sol,
And perchance you were all three, each said role,
Then I remembered what they always say,
What's come goes, in spite of though come what may,
In a blink, like a specter, you weren't there,
Like a cruel trick on light played in air,
So I wait on a rose for the stage,
For another spell on another page.
Again you will shine and ride a small star,
And come and change me, us men so afar.

"Sparks"

Those eyes. Stalking without mercy.
Those ears. Longing impatiently.
That night. Drama uncurling.
Those stars. Razzle dazzling.
Fireworks. Hot dogs, funnel cakes.
My “friends”. Stalking without mercy.
Longing. Your lips. Impatiently.
But it was me you got alone.
Down the marina, and the beach.
Your black towel, your pick-up truck.
Heated promises. Solemn vows.
Red foil-wrapped heart-shaped chocolate.
White and icy wine. Blue glitter.
Rubbing. Against. Without mercy.
Nibbling. Your skin. Impatiently.
That night, sweetie, had, oh, such stars!

"If I Will, I Can, And If I Can, I Will"

There are no mountains to triumph
For I am the only mountain
There are no valleys to plunge into
For I am the only valley
There are no forests to make use of
For I am an undying tree
There are no spirits to lament for
For I am never without them
There is no quicksand that can keep me
For I will always keep trudging
There are no stars that can govern me
For I am Lord of destiny.

"Zen"

A kaleidoscope surrounding me
With copper, white sand, shining blue sea
Feeling a little divine tonight
Stained glass in a gazebo, broad light
Streaming proudly through, ignited dust
And the candles danced in walls of rust
Splintered apart were the shards of white
Feeling a little divine tonight
Echoes of chimes and tunes trembling low
Rain, dainty rain drumming the windows
I stared, adoring the mandalas bright
Feeling a little divine tonight
Then I learned, heaven waits for whom seeks
My heart races, my breaths, they come weak
My mind paces, such glory in sight
Feeling a little divine tonight
Shadowed films of color sweep across
While diamonds fill the holes, what were lost
This heat, someone holding from behind
This cold, someplace far up from mankind
This silence, this awe, it feels so right
Feeling a little divine tonight.
