Regnum attacks.

Regum feels a sharp pain as the Bownyte bites into his side. Blood spills from the new wound onto the ground as he tries to free himself from Halo's iron grip. Once free, Regnum tries to distance himself from the raging Shade. The Inklaw's wound does not allow him the benefit of taking to the sky again. He will have to attack from the ground. Rolling to his feet, Regnum charges at Halo.

Having met with moderate success yet again, Halo’s hopes were bolstered slightly at the prospect of turning the battle in his favor. If he could avoid taking any serious damage, perhaps he could outlast the inklaw. His opponent, seemingly grounded for the time being, was less patient. Unexpectedly, the winged shade barreled toward an unwary Halo, seemingly attempting to slam into the bownyte and knock him to the ground.

Turning his back to the enemy was not an option at this stage. With fatigue weighing him down, Halo could only stand and confront the charge head-on. Without the speed of aerial combat backing the charge, it would be much less powerful than the previous attacks had been. Digging his claws into the rough soil, the bownyte braced himself, lowering his head as the inklaw collided with him. Hoping to take advantage of the positioning before his opponent could dart away, Halo lashed out with his teeth.

Regnum attacks.

This was Regnum's chance and he needed to take it. A grounded Inklaw would not hold long against the threat of a Bownyte's jaws. Regnum knew that he needed to end this battle now, lest Halo latch his jaws on the Shade and not let go. Regnum straightens his form and opens his shadowy wings for one last assault. Beating his massive wings with one powerful motion, Regnum sends a gust of wind and dirt in Halo's direction.

The gust of wind struck Halo and staggered him backwards. Sand washed over him and tore at his wounds like pins and needles. As the last of it blew past, he looked up toward the enemy shade. The inklaw was winded and trapped on the ground. Halo’s opportunity to end the battle was now. He only needed…to—

With a thud he landed on the coarse soil, eyes closed and consciousness far out of reach. Halo had been defeated.

Dais watched from across the field, his face the same expressionless mask as always. He had expected to win the battle, but such arrogant certainty was born of his own might. It could only be expected that a weak creature like his shade would be defeated. Without a word, the bownyte’s master turned and began walking from the battlefield. It was fortunate for Halo that the Battlemaiden would be more forgiving than his master.

Halo is defeated. Regnum wins the duel.

The Battlemaiden descends upon the field and carries Halo away. The sad creature had tried his best and deserved a good rest among other things. She whisks the Shade away for some healing.

Kiju - 96HP
Ezuriel - 75HP

The elder Bownyte was luck enough to doge most of the newest onslaught from his opponent, but some of the shards lodged into him, their fierce heat causing his mind to scream in agony, though he did not let his pain escape him. He favored his right hindpaw, but that hardly stopped his next attack.

Good shot, he bellowed to Kiju, but just try and keep up with this one! He raced toward her quickly, letting out a stream of Shadow Fire that encircled her quickly. He knew that the smoke would shield his next attack enough to where he might just have the advantage.

He saw his chance and quickly bolted through the flames, the heat doing nothing to harm its master as he lowered his horns to try and impale her.

Ezuriel - 75HP

Ezuriel's smoke veil worked as planned, Kiju was unable to see where the next attack was going to come from or when. In response, she began gathering strength to raise a full metallic shell around her to protect her from all sides. Just as the rim of the barrier began to protrude from the earth, Ezuriel had lunged through the shroud and caught Kiju before she could finish raising her defenses. The bownyte's horns struck true, impaling Kiju in her center of mass causing her to emit a short gasp. She stood there, mouth gaping in surprise and shock as she looked down to witness Ezuriel pulling himself free and the massive wound that was left behind.

Nice move, old man...

That brief praise to her opponent had cost her the rest of her strength. Kiju's eyes glazed over and her body fell backwards to the ground, completely limp.

Kiju is defeated. Ezuriel wins the duel.

The Battlemaiden picks up another Bownyte from the field. It seemed as if only yesterday she had done the same. If luck continued as it was, she would be performing many more first-aid trips in the near future.

It was a good start for Regnum. He takes off into the air and hovers for a moment. "No time to waste!" Regnum goes for a head-first dive hoping to catch the Bownyte off guard and get an early lead.

Kiju sees the attack coming and maneuvers to avoid the full force of the blow. Instead of dodging it entirely, she stays close enough to the Inklaw to strike at the diving bird with claws that had been coated in razor-sharp steel during the start of the match.

Regnum attacks.

Regnum's attack is less than successful and the Bownyte slashes at him as he picks himself up off the ground. It was time for back-up. If one diving bird is not enough, how about two? Regnum calls upon the spirit of a fallen hawk. The spectral creature screeches and dives at Kiju.

The spectral bird caught Kiju by surprise and managed to make a shallow gash along her arm as she protected her face. The bownyte readied herself as it came for another pass. With a swift rake of her claws, Kiju disrupted the gathered energies that held the being into existence causing it to disburse in small eddies of wind.

Kiju turned to face his soaring opponent and slowly lifted a hand, palm facing upward. As she did so, a long javelin made of glistening silver raised from the soil and lined itself with the Inklaw's predicted flight path. With a grunt of effort and a throwing motion, the pointed shaft of metal hissed as it raced towards its intended target at blinding speed.

The metal javelin pierces Regnum in the side and forces him to land on the ground. He is losing blood fast. So much for a good start. The Inklaw tries to get his bearings and pecks at the Bownyte's eyes, hoping not to be bitten in the process.
