Fully Ramblomatic

Post by Kalon Ordona II on Thu Sep 24, 2009 3:11 am

So I was thinking that all the games here are all short and kinda pointless so I was trying to think up a game where we can both exercise our ability to pump out words while at the same time giving us a break from the lovely but tedious restraints of the English language. So! I figured a cool thing we could do is just hang all the rules and go all out with a no-limits thread where all we have to to is type as fast as possible about whatever we feel like talking about for as long as we dare without killing our fingers and our brains and our ears from the incessant clicking of the keys from the keyboard as we type and type and type until smoke rises from the fading ink. And! Whoever picks a topic next all you have to do is not have any commas or semicolons or colons or parentheses or numbers or punctuation besides periods and exclamation points but you have to spell everything correctly or else I will not be at all happy with you and whoever posts next should point out every single little mistake. Oh! Maybe as a rule I can add that you can't preview or go back and edit anything so that it will all be crazy when people end up pointing out every single detail of every single word that you might possibly have missed and now I'm finally running toward the bottom of the post-box! Yeah! Another rule is that you cannot go any more or any less than the post box so that you don't have to scroll. Have fun!

So I was wondering why nobody is picking up the wonderful and awesome idea that I had and is not even trying to type long-winded run-on sentences and are just missing out on all the fun they could really be having trying to give their fingers an exercise for a change and while I respect people's choices I just want to say that you all are really missing out on a really cool activity that only takes a couple of minutes and if you give it a try I think you might just have a lot of fun and I say fun and really a lot but it's okay because all I'm really trying to do is make a very very very long sentence and it seems like it's working. Woot! Okay so I am now about three quarters of the way through or maybe by now it's more like four fifths because as I type it keeps shrinking and stuff. Oh no! That last sentence was a lot shorter than my first one but that's really to be expected because that first one was really long. Oh look I'm completely out of room! xD

I don't really get it but whatever I guess I will post here because I'm too tired to write anything professional looking because I got absolutely no sleep last night and I had to get up at the butt crack of dawn to go take a stupid test that you have to take to graduate and it was really easy and I'm just like...wtf how can people not pass this thing? Are they that stupid? Anyway I think people aren't into this because it is hard to read runon sentences and therefore they don't bother learning what the rules of the game are and therefore don't bother playing.

Oh, mine is smaller because I always use the quick reply and the quick reply box is a lot smaller than the regular post box but you said not to edit so I'm going to double post and it's not necessarily against forum policy because this post has nothing to do with the first post though I am still really tired so that is still the same. Well I have to bs my way through this because we are going to the halloween store and I want to go and I need to not write anymore because I will eventually start talking about the economy messing with my life and no one wants a depressed conversation.

I kind of wanted to do this but I'm really not very good at this sort of thing seeing as I tend to get to the point when I'm talking but I figured if I just start writing I might actually be able to finish without giving up halfway through like I normally do with my writings sometimes. But I am discovering that this really isn't all that hard at all as long as I don't really pay attention to what I am saying or what I want to say and I just let the words flow from my fingers like Kalon states is the point of this really pointless game though it isn't really that pointless as it works like a free write sort of exercise. Hey! We should use this thread as a free write exercise for story ideas or role-play ideas or even this sort of thing for NaNoWriMo participants for those who come up against the solid and impenetrable walls of writers block that I so often find plaguing my own mind when I am trying to write some story that I know will eventually make me famous and appease the worlds before-then insatiable desire for amazing literature and common sense though of course I am kidding because I am not that vain or confidant in my writings at all and I know that if I ever do get something published that is as far as I can ever expect it to go and I should entertain no fantasies that I will ever get rich off of them. All I really want however is to finish my books and have them published so that some other young padawan can pick it up and be inspired to write his own books. The end.

Yup yes yup that's exactly the point of this exercise 'cause it's good to have a chance to just let it all go and type as much as you can about anything just to get into the rhythm of flowing and letting the words go into the box as they come through your head. I like reading these too even if other people do not because for some reason it's really fun seeing how the long sentences progress and it's kinda funny too to read and read and read the whole sentence, sometimes even out loud in one long breath which is often quite difficult especially when there are no commas and there's a comma in the middle of this sentence which sucks but that's okay because this sentence is turning out to be really long and I didn't mean for it to be this way but it is and that's the whole fun about it because now I'm totally typing fast without really thinking, almost like I'm talking. Oops, there was a comma, and another one and another one. Oh well getting back to rambling on about this thread is what I was trying to get back to and I think even when your brain freezes up and you can't think what to write you can just go ahead and write that and I love how we have the box to both force us to go the whole way and limit the ramblings so it doesn't go too long for the poor readers who have to sit through it all if they want which they don't have to but I'm sure they'd all like it and ooh I'm done.

So I have a major decision coming up really soon that I need to make that will have a great impact on my immediate future but that could also make things a lot worse for me if things don't go absolutely perfectly which really wouldn't be good at the moment because things are hard enough as it is and I could really use a break rather than having my life become even more difficult than it would if I chose to continue on the path that I'm on instead of choosing to take all four remaining classes next quarter instead of splitting them up into two quarters which would be easier but instead I want to finish faster so I am thinking of doing it this way even the my homework load would be so intense that I likely wouldn't be able to get on FOG very much anymore but I would try to post in my role-plays anyway because I don't think I could give them up and I might also have to quit my job or take a leave of absence just incase I can't find a better job.
